My kids pay more in activity fees at the state universities than I paid in tuition when I was a student there. If the sports are such a money maker, why do all students have to pay $300+ a semester to activity fees which mostly go to sports?

Seems like a racket to me.

A review of sports programs and a realistic analysis of costs vs. benefits (including alumni fundraising) would be a smart idea. But the colleges probably need those funds elsewhere to keep tuition manageable.
