The issue of humane euthanasia for animals is not bolstered by exaggerated claims about how painful carbon monoxide poisoning is. Opponents of capital punishment complain about how painful intravenous execution is when in fact it is a lethal dose of medical anesthetic. When animal rights activists are not truthful the entire movement is tarnished. Rep. Romero needs a smarter set of advisors.

I have no objection to euthanasia for animals by injection. I was surprised to read that carbon monoxide poisoning is painful. Other than a dull headache in the early phase I have not read anything that it is painful to humans. That's the problem. People getting CO poisoning do not have pain so it is very insidious.
