The inaugural was long on rhetoric but short on details, as they tend to be. Charlie is seeing bogeymen in it because he wants to.

"His mission is to redeem and resurrect the 50-year pre-Reagan liberal ascendancy." OK, explain to about government expansion when you consider the following: After Reagan took office federal spending increased from 18 percent of GDP peaking at 23 percent GDP. And of course during the Clinton years it went back down to the comfortable teens. Recently it went up to it highest ever under guess who George Bush up to 25 percent of GDP. Even during the recession it starting to come down.

I can believe this stuff coming out of Krauthammer but when is the Editorial Board become embarrassed with this guy.

Our national government has to be as big as it has to be to do the job we ask it to do. Failing that, America dies.

    Creation of the TSA.

    Patriot Act.

    Bank bailouts.

    Invade two countries.

This was done under George W. Bush, the most explosive expansion of big government since the great Depression.

Want to talk about the evils of big government?

Look at the people who are running FOR government office, while claiming they are against it.
