How are America's possibilities limitless when the big chief himself
shackles us with 16 trillion in debt - headed for 20 trillion after another
Obama term? The man is a liar but most who follow him are such low information
citizens that they can't see the forest for the trees. America is headed
for the dumpster - FAST - unless that GOD we "used to trust" intervenes.
Remember folks - 20 trillion in no joke!!!Wake up!!!
Pagan, Will Obama participate in his new health care reform?
Teleste, yes the debt is far too high. And, frankly, I see W Bush as far more
responsible for the current debt then Obama. After all Bush came into office
with a surplus and the debt on a trajectory to be paid off by now, and the
republicans also had control of congress, and they are supposed to be the
fiscally responsible party. Obama, on the other hand, came into
office looking at a trillion dollar deficit on day one, left from the previous
administration, as well as devestating tax cuts left to him. And a world wide
financial crisis that, obviously, affected the debt. But never mind
who is more to blame, it's a problem. My question to you is,
were you as outraged when Reagan, and both Bushs were running up massive debt,
or are you a Johnny come lately, that only now has noticed the debt? Either way
welcome aboard. It's unfortunate though, if you did not care when Reagan
was tripling the debt and setting us on this unsustainable path. Better late
then never. I guess.
Of course Regan and Bush spent less money than Obama.Regan took
office in 1981.I was 3 years old.And yet Bush added to
the debt.In fact, Bush doubled the debt. Now, you want to
claim the Republican party will LOWER the debt?History has proven
otherwise. For 32 years and counting.Just wanted to help
your rhetoric with a thing called facts. You want to take credit that
Obama got into office a 2nd time because Republicans have failed to deliver
on..the Promise to AmericaContract with AmericaPath to
ProsperityReganomicsand Bush tax cuts?Fine. Thanks again! But Obama cannot get a third term.
@ PaganBait and switch?Look in the mirror!Attacking previous presidents is not a way to defend, validate, or vindicate
O's dismal record. It is just a way to bait...Then, using terms
such as "Doubling" and "Tripling" is sly rhetoric...but it is
merely just a path you take to avoid using *real numbers*...your switch.Because...Fact: During the combined 16 years W and Reagan
spent in office, they spent less money than O did in just 4 years. You clearly have failed to comprehend this or you are deliberately avoiding
facts.Just wanted to help you with your rhetoric. You're welcome.
Mr. BeanOgden, UTHere's what you get with Obama in the White
House:- Gallon of gas: 20 Jan 09 -- $1.84; 21 Jan 13 -- $3.26.============I can't remember exactly what I was paying
for gas 4 years ago, but I know you are just plain lying because I just
paid $2.61, and CostCo set that price -- not Pres. Obama. In
reply to the rest of your silly factless rant -- Here's what you get
with Obama in the White House:Troops out of Iraq, and withdraw
date set for Afghanistan, The End of the Great Recession, Job Market
rebound, Stock Market tripled, huge investments in renewable &
green energy, increased oil pumping in domestic reserves, Tax rates
on the 1% back to Bush term 1 era levels, Middle Class tax rate reductions
made permanent,Healthcare made available to ALL Americans, and ya --
and Osama Bin Laden really is dead this time.I'm looking
forward to his next term...
If Obama added ONE dollar to the debt, technically he would have added
'more' debt than any President.Obama, has not doubled the
debt.Obama, has not tripled the debt. You are thinking of
Republican Presidents W. Bush and Regan.Part of the same Republican
party that claims they are now, financially 'conservative' after, they
doubled and tripled the national debt. This constant 'bait and
switch' by Republican rhetoric vs. action...is why Obama got
his 2nd term. Thank you.
@PaganYour game of semantics can't hide the *facts* as you
say.1. President Reagan added $1.412 trillion to the debt during his
two terms.2. President Bush added $3.294 trillion over two terms.3. President Obama has contributed the most to the debt, with cumulative
deficits totaling $5.073 trillion **in just four years.**This is why
people might just be upset.I actually agree with your criticisms of
Bush and Reagan...I don't know where you get the gall to act like Obama is
doing a good job though. In half the time...he has added more to the debt than W
and Reagan COMBINED.
Ronald Regan tripled the national debt.W. Bush doubled the national
debt.President Obama has factually done neither. Why are
some people only upset about the debt, now? What makes Obama
JoeCapitalist, I'm a rather productive person and I haven't been
affected by any new regulations. What specific regulation is it that is
@miss piggy CHS is right your comments are at best a boorish example of a
school yard bully and nothing more. I am sorry you have such a chip on your
shoulder about our current president and so little faith in our country.
@ironyguy... your commments are strange to me. I am a Mormon and I do not hate
Obama and I back national health Care. Most of my neighbors are Mormons and
while most did not vote for Obama I do not know of any of them that hate and
resent him. We can all have different opinions without hatred. I feel more
hatred and contempt towards Mormons from your comments than I have ever felt
from any of my non-Mormon neighbors that I have known as friends for over 25
Unfortunately these days the only "limitless" things appear to be the
amount of debt our federal government can rack up, the number of new taxes and
regulations put on everyone who tries to be productive, and the amount of
rhetoric coming out of the mouth of our president.
Piggie, what is your preoccupation with this guys middle name? I mean really,
who cares? You added thousands to your taxes because you didn't sign up for
"obamacare"? Really? Hokay. . .
Mitt, where are you? Re-count, please.
@Fred44"Regardless of your political persuasion this was a great
speech filled with hope and belief in the greatness of America."I think you just nailed the problem: People are tired of great speeches filled
with hope and belief followed by inaction, broken promises, and increased
burdens on the middle class.Sorry Fred...I can't feed my family
with great speeches.
We as decent human beings need to help the poor and elderly - the US government
needs to stay out of it, because government help has been a miserable failure
when it comes to charitable acts. While climate change may or may not
hamper our children's future, the financial burdens of the Bush and Obama
generation absolutely will harm their future. How are we doing in
fixing those immigration problems? Ending wars, torture, illegal detentions?
Getting people to work and be productive rather than collect an unemployment
check for 99 weeks? Why can this man not focus on any real problems?
Perhaps because rather than solving problems in term one, he found out that
non-stop pandering was an easier path to re-election. Why not keep that up for
term two, perhaps his wife will then be elected to really finish what they
Miss Piggie, you are not telling the truth. You did not have to pay any penalty
on your 2012 tax return for not "signing up" for Obamacare. Telling
lies is a big no no, or didn't your mama teach you right?
@metisophia:"@Miss Piggie. Since today's swearing in was not
official and yesterday's was (as required by the constitution,) you may be
reassured that he did, indeed, include his middle name, Hussein, in the oath of
office."I guess this means sometimes he likes it and sometimes
he doesn't."Get informed before you write."My bad... Didn't watch. Tuned in but... I don't know... started
feeling brackish and queasy. Don't know why. Besides, I had to spend the
time working my tax return where I had to add a couple of $thou in penalty as I
didn't sign up for Obamacare.I did catch the part where he says
he wants to finish what he started... Socialism, wealth redistribution, etc.
This forum is a microcosm of why the republican party continues to slide from
prominence in this country. Regardless of your political persuasion this was a
great speech filled with hope and belief in the greatness of America. Why can
those on the right not bring themselves to admit that this man has done anything
right ever? Is it racism, or just a complete lack of tolerance by the right for
anyone who disagrees with them or both? The President has an approval rating
around 50% the republicans in congress have a single digit approval rating.
Other than the far right, the rest of America is tired of continuous hate and
obstructionism of the republican house. I hope that the republicans will come
to the table work with the President to solve problems, otherwise we will have
to wait till the midterm elections and see another major defeat for the far
right in the house and the senate.
@Miss Piggie. Since today's swearing in was not official and
yesterday's was (as required by the constitution,) you may be reassured
that he did, indeed, include his middle name, Hussein, in the oath of office.Get informed before you write.
Here's what you get with Obama in the White House: -
Obama's 1st-term approval rating among lowest of post-WWII presidents...
Only Carter, Ford Fared Worse... - Unemployment rate same today as
it was when Obama first took office... - Gallon of gas: 20 Jan 09 --
$1.84; 21 Jan 13 -- $3.26. - National deficit -- $1 trillion per
year. - National debt -- up by $5 trillion... More than all other
presidents put together.
@CHS 85:"Maybe because he is tired of people like you commenting about
his given name."Nothing wrong with 'Hussein.' Other
important guys were named Hussein such as Saddam Hussein. It's of Arabic
origin, means 'good, small handsome one' and is a prominent name in
Shiite Islam."He didn't choose his name..."Well, he certainly did choose to not us it in the ceremony, for some strange
reason."Sounds like a 4th grade bully on the playground to make
fun of someone's name."Take the chip off your shoulder.
Hussein is a good name representing well the Muslim religion. What's so
wrong with that? However, I don't think Obama countenances what Islam
adherents have been up to in the world these days. Perhaps he's merely
trying to remove himself from all that. We can only guess. In any event, he
dropped the name in the ceremony and it's certainly within his rights to do
@Irony GuyFiguratively throwing stones at your Mormon neighbors for
their shortcomings isn't very neighborly. Ironic, isn't it, that you
can do that while being moved by the "dignity" of Obama's speech.
@PaganObamacare was (and is) opposed by the majority of
Americans...and it does not solve America's healthcare/financial woes. In
fact, the CBO estimates that the bill adds to the burden. It makes me
laugh that you tout the bill as a good thing.
@Miss PiggieMaybe because he is tired of people like you commenting
about his given name. He didn't choose his name, just as I'm pretty
sure you didn't choose yours. Sounds like a 4th grade bully on the
playground to make fun of someone's name.
I was genuinely moved by the dignity and power of Obama's inaugural speech.
Congratulations to a great American and a great president. I'm genuinely
puzzled by my Mormon neighbors whose hatred and contempt for this fine man are
boundless. Ironic, isn't it, for people who claim to be followers of the
Well, we see that Obama has dropped 'Hussein' from the Inauguration
Ceremonies. What's with that?
I think it's wonderful that the Deseret News provides a forum for
unpatriotic sore-losers.It really helps cement the poor reputation that
Utah has amongst intelligent Americans. On this day I couldn't be more
proud to be American, and I couldn't be more embarrassed to be a Utahn. Thanks Deseret News for showing "The real Utah"!
America's possibilities ARE limitless...unless you're trying to keep a
small business afloat in post-Obamacare America. Then you'll quickly see
how limited you really are.
The decline of our nation people keep talking about.End of the Iraq
war.Healthcare reform.Exit date for Afghanistan where
before there was none.Jobs bills denied in the House. And
the death of Osama Bin Laden.I do not think that word means, what
you think it means.
Help the middle class? Well, Mr. Obama, they need jobs. J.O.B.S. And you
don't create jobs by hoisting Obamacare mandates on business owners and
raising payroll taxes. But, how would you know that?
Obama is absolutely truthful when he states "America's possibilities
are limitless."However the possibilities for evil acts to
continue the destruction of our country are more likely than a miraculous course
change away from his destructive policies back to the road of fiscal
responsibility, a strong defense and a bright future for our children. Some may celebrate, but today is a sad day in the decline of our nation. However, there is cause for celebration today. After all, it IS
