More people have died from gun violence in America than after all the wars since WWII.

    Think about that.

Restricting the magazine size or amount of ammo a person can have loaded in a gun is foolish policy probably being made by people who have never shot a gun And certainly don't know much about them. A person who practices can discharge and reload a fresh magazine in about 5 seconds with either an assault rifle (whatever that is) or an automatic handgun. All a mass killer would need to do is fill their pocktes with several magazines to have the same ability to shoot rapidly.

Duh! Of course Barry didn't want to go after Hollywood the same way that he did guns, gunmakers. Most of Hollywood is Liberal and supports his causes, you wouldn't want to bite the hand that "feeds" you right?

Banning or outlawing some types of guns won't keep them out of criminals hands. Those that want to do harm to others will find a way. Maybe identifying those people BEFORE they act is the best way to go about this. It has been brought up finally recently that our mental health care is appalling in this country. That might be the first thing that needs addressed.

The REAL solutions for preventing more school shootings...

    1. Mental Health changes so parents of disturbed children can get REAL help. OBAMA PROPOSES NOTHING HERE.
    2. Violent videos. Every single time we here of a mass shooting violent videos were involved. OBAMA PROPOSES little - just some vague research to be pushed to the back burner certainly.

So what we conclude here is Barack Obama couldn't care less about REAL prevention measures - his ONLY push is to use ANY event to BAN guns. All guns eventually.
Never mind the FACT that banning guns only INCREASES violent crime (see Chicago).

    Let's be real here people!!!

Research was done by the Centers For Disease control about the effects of gun control laws on crime. Their conclusion: "gun control laws do not prevent crime". Calling for more "research" is a waste of time and money because it has already been researched but the results just aren't what liberals, like Obama, want. Sort of like global warming research; keep looking until you come up with the results you want to find!

What's to research, we already know the answer, why else does a kid dress like the joker and kill people in a theatre. Lets spend some more time on Lybia and "discovering" the truth there. This isn't a gun issue, it's a social issue, it's how we've glorified violence and ignored mental illness. We don't put the gun on trial when someone is shot, we put the person who pulled the trigger on trial.

Laws should hurt criminals, not law abiding citizens. This is a FREE country.

King Hussein Obama will protect and provide for us all. He is capable of creating money out of thin air. So why should we have guns to protect ourselves? The government can provide. As long as this man has his executive orders and blind followers, we are saved! Hallelujah!

I have never owned a gun in my life but if I wanted one I would want to have the opportunity to own one. I feel that there needs to be steps to make people safer and especially Children but taking away peoples rights is the wrong way to do it. I also believe that the media plays into this way to much therefore sometimes these men or women who have mental issues or just want attention will do what they can to get it. Hollywood needs to stop making movies that are so violent as well as those who make these video games. To me they are the ones who have encouraged these people to go out and kill people. If there is someone who is mentally depressed or disturbed they see these kinds of things and want to go out and do the same. Then their names will be all over the news. We do need more help with those who have mental issues and be more aware of our surroundings. If the President has those who protect him with guns along with his children we should also have those rights.

The founders knew that its militias, aka police and military
(National Guard) couldn't always be there on time when
needed. Therefore people were given the right to form militias
themselves. The arms (guns) of a militia are a military tool.
This is the reason an assault weapons ban would not be
constitutional. (What good is a militia if its weapons are

I applaud President Obama for working to solve the problem
of violence. Disarming good people however is not a way to
protect good people. In Utah many teachers carry guns and
we are not only safer, but we feel safer for it. There are many
actions the president and congress can and should take.
Banning guns is not one of them.
