This is why we need a 16 team playoff. Texas A&M, Oregon, Stanford, Kansas State, Gerogia just to name a few vs Alabama. Would have made for a more exciting and intense matchup then Notre Dame. The Irish wouldnt have made it thru round one if they would set up a playoff system. Its time to ditch the BS I mean BCS!!

Oh and sorry Ute fans you wont ever make the playoffs either!

ND should not have been in that game, they are the worst # 1 ranking team in twenty years. Still, when ND came to Cougar stadium I happened to have a seat in the middle of the ND fan section. I will say this, I've never seen more respectful fans, they know the game and they appreciate good play, and they don't get in your face.

I also had the "privilege" of sitting in the middle of the Utah fan section at Cougar stadium, and I've never been so disgusted with a bunch of football fans in my life, arrogant, in your face, taunting...just awful. No one should wonder why Utah fans are so despised--they're the worst. I for one would be happy if BYU never played Utah again--in any sport.

This is why you need a playoff!

ND vs. Bama would have been a good and fair quarter or semi final game. ND deserved to be in a playoff because of their undefeated season but they were not proven to the point where they should have been elevated into the big game.

A champion should never be determined by a computer or poll. This is what happens.

Oregon/KSU would have been great choice for the other semi.

You would have then had a great Oregon/Alabama final.

The irony is that more money would have been made with the playoff process.

Actually you could have added four more teams for a great 8 team playoff with 7 games that would have generated a billion plus in revenue.

I believe Oregon and Alabama would have still made the final game but they would have shown their stuff by winning their way to the big game.

It appears greed and the fear of losing may be what is driving the BCS people at the expense of an exciting "Winter Madness" that would every bit match "March Madness."

Glad to see 4 coming but it should be 8!!.

Who's gloating? Childish behavior. My thing is that the BCS put the wrong team into the game. It should have been Oregon.

I feel the same way about Duke basketball. Everybody hates Duke, because Duke has everything that everybody wants: passionate fanbase, world famous coach, historic arena, and winning tradition, including 4 championships in the past 25 years. But Duke does it the right way. No cheating. No illegal recruiting. And their coach is a former Army officer who has turned down multi-million dollar contracts to stay at the school. In today's world of college athletics, the Blue Devils are a breath of fresh air.

Hey Worf....anytime you start a sentence with "This is not an excuse" can be sure an excuse is coming. Big time Northern schools have incredible in-door facilities. I've lived near Tuscaloosa for 10 years and the temperature there is December can be brutal. Alabama does most of their December work inside just like the team up north.

The south just has better athletes. More speed and more size.

    and....Roll Tide!

    one more thing....SEC.SEC.SEC.SEC.SEC.SEC.SEC

Alabama was superior and predictably so. The romance you speak of led the press and others to mythologize about the Gipper when reality said ND was in for a pounding. Upset? It could have happened, but this was not Rudy. Manti Te'o is a superior person and player and it would have been exciting if he alone could literally turn the Tide. This game was not Lord of the Rings, it was power football.

This is not an excuse, but it's more difficult for northern teams to prepare for a bowl game then a southern one. Especially with a month and a half lay-ff.

I was really wanting the Irish to win last night, but have thought all season that they were way over-rated. I guess the game last night proves that. It should have been Stanford or Oregon instead. Alabama may have still won, but it would have been a lot more difficult for them to do so.
