You know, you don't have to look very hard to fine lives that have been torn from tragedy. People who lose loved ones, homes destroyed by floods, fire or wind storms. People who are shunned or abandoned, abused and neglected.

A little compassion goes a long ways. We may not be able to cure all the ills in the world single handedly, but just a little effort from one person at a time adds up quite quickly. We sing about 'good will towards men' and then fail to express appreciation for the simplest things done by those who are closest to us.

Within our small circle is the chance to do so much good. Hopefully one day we will never need to hear tale of Liesl, or anyone like her.

What a tender story. I would only hope that Liesl could somehow read this article and understand the tender feeling others have for her family's great tragedy.
