Most regions have some formulas like in a six team region the first place team gets six and the second place gets five and so on. It looks like this league has broke from the mold a bit.

But in Region 8 Timpview didn't even submit any choices, not sure about Provo as they have none listed and they had one all-state lineman who you would think would be all-region.

I'm not sure if the Timpview thing is a solidarity thing not to recognize anyone above the team or if there is something going on where Timpview is mad about the sanctions that made them third place and perhaps using these formulas would have shorted Timpview picks. Perhaps somebody closer to the program should know.

I am familiar with about three of those Cottonwood players and obviously their QB but plyxply you may be right, I think six seems excessive based on their record and how they stood compared to Jordan and Alta.

eagle, good point, Brighton got jobbed as well. The Masina brothers plus Barton and a couple of their other kids were pretty good. Copper Hills had one kid on their D line who was outstanding but other then him nobody really stood out.
It's hard to argue with the Jordan selections, but Cottonwood's selections have no validity, especially when you compare what those kids did compared to the Alta kids. Chipper Lucero, Mack Richards, and Logan Harrison all deserved to be on the first team and none of them got recognized.
I guess it goes to show that it's a popularity contest on what kids did in summer camps on the recruiting circuit more than what they actually did on the football field.

It seems like Brighton, if anyone got hosed. And Copper Hills perhaps. And maybe Alta. West Jordan has four first teamers plus the special teams MVP for 5 picks. Jordan looks like six first teamers, the Region MVP, offensive and defensive MVP's.

Bottom line, I'm not sure the number of selections is that out of line based on the formulas they generally use.

The All-Region teams should have been released three weeks ago when they were selected. It should be embarrassing to the Trib to not select players who were voted by the coaches as offensive and/or defensive MVP's of their regions and not be first team All-State.

Region 3 coaches must be clueless. How they give Cottonwood 6 spots on the first team is a complete joke and an injustice to those players who actually performed on the field. Cottonwood was terrible, Alta beat them by 40 yet they still put Bateman on the first team and nothing for Chipper Lucero who led 5A in td's and yards. West Jordan was horrible, yet have 4 players on the first team?
It's sad that kids aren't recognized for what they actually accomplish, instead you get a bunch of kids on here who the coaches must have felt sorry for. What a joke, Region 3 coaches should be ashamed.
