Having lived in Venezuela in the 1960s when they had just changed from a long time dictatorship to a President under a constitutional type of government, those people have a very good chance to become a very productive country.

They had oil which was a high demand item. However, the EPA had started their type of process in New York and they didn't want the high sulphur content oil and gas in New York so the United States told Venezuela they didn't want their oil anymore. Then the 7-day war came between Egypt and Israel. Then the oil embargo happened from the Arab countries and now Venezuelan oil became acceptable for New York as it was better than nothing. The United States sent someone to apologize to Venezuela and Venezuela shipped oil but some never forgot that history.

It is ironic that Chavez has made his play with Cuba, Bolivia, Iran and others that are pitted against the United States of America but supports President Obama. That is quite a message he has displayed in the past couple of months. He knows who he wants to deal with when it comes time to play in the diplomatic world.

Since he supported and published that he supported President Obama's election for a second term, it seems like he would come to the United States of America and at least New York City for his medical care. I believe, even for Cuban leaders, they go to Spain normally for special care instead of Cuba.

The Venezuelans have had despot leaders for much of the past century and this man has led them further down a road that will be hard to get out. The Cubans attempted to overtake their government and country in the 1960s with Che Guevarra and his cohorts from Castro. They, however, would make a very large distinction between the United States of America companies and other national companies.

Since Venezuela is rich in oil, the Cubans wanted some bargaining power with Russia for their military and aid for their Communist programs. The poor people of the country didn't help the Cubans so they got a Chavez from the top military position to help them. He was an elitist and had money through his time in the military.

Socialist type healthcare systems are not working and is a demonstration that we should not go.

Chavez is a big pain. But I still wish him the best. I hope he will recover quickly and be back to work being a big pain. But at the same time I wish the people of Venezuela to have a competent government and I am aware I have justed wished for competing things. Maybe I wish he would get well soon so he can begin his retirement?
