Again, great competition but high school gym is not visionary. You might notice that Jordan, Alta etc. played some high school football games in big-time facilities. This is a big-time event that needs a big-time venue.

Do the math on the venue:

Orem High Field House: Revenue approx $115,000 (12 games x 1,200 tix/game average or about 1/3 capacity on average x $8) - Cost: FREE.
Orem High Sports pockets over $100k!

UVU: Revenue up by at most $16,000 (2,000 more seats at final game x $8 at most)
Cost: who knows, but probably makes this a break even deal for Orem

Besides, at their facility they get home court advantage for three games.

It's a no brainer on $$ alone - Orem does it this way every time!

I actually do help run some big high school event but not a basketball guy. But Neil "The Zuke" Warner might be the guy to call. When he did The Great Zuke challenge he was able to ascertain the UVU UCCU Event Center which I think would be a great venue for this event. The schools might have to pony up some money but I think it would bring gravitas to the event and in the end make it bigger and better. It is great competition so it's too bad that many people were turned away from the contest...

JD Books - Yes, your "imagination" (2/3 SS wins over WJ) is running away from all reality. Did you actually see the game? SS would be lucky to win 1/10. Last week you were willing to bet the farm that SS could beat any team (in and out of Utah) with their front line and ace Race. I noticed you've backed off your claim when you saw what Orem and LP are doing to in state and out of state teams. SS is a good team with good players and are well coached but you need a good dose of reality about what the rest of the sate, particularly at the AAAA and AAAAA levels, are capable of. This is no diss on SS...just reality.

JD. Still delusional. SS went 0 fer 3 dude! No way they EVER beat W. Jordan or any other mid-level or better 4A or 5A Utah school. EVER!

I would imagine South Sevier and Race Parsons could beat West Jordan 2 out of 3 times.

    To Unbelievable and Eagle.

Maybe you guys should put it together since you guys know so much and obviously can plan better than Orem's Administration. Why the negativity?

Maybe the organizers of this event will take the lead from wrestling who have great venues for their showcase events such as the all-star dual and The Rumble.

And is the Lone Peak basketball team the best ever?

I attempted to attend this game with my son. Lines were long and the gym packed. It was cold and hundreds turned away. My son and I estimated 30 to 40 thousand in revenue lost because of horrid planning by the organizers. Why not play this game/tourny/ in the spacious/comfortable McKay Center on the UVU campus. Afterall, Orem does have a connection there with Hunsaker. With the boatload of BYU talent on display, all from Happy Valley, they stood to amke everyone happy.

Organizers will nevre have a better product to promote than this year and need to apologize to the many Utah High Scholl sports fans that got stiffed, at the gate.

Where is that guy from down south that said South Sevier could beat any team in the State?? Come on man, West Jordan is a good team but they are no Orem or Lp. You can't compare oranges to apples.
