The bickering between Utah and BYU is lame. As an independent, BYU has the
ability to create a better schedule (see 2013) and increase its exposure (see
every game televised in 2011 and 2012 whereas many Utah games couldn't be
seen by Directv customers). I thought Utah had a really strong defense this
year and was in most games even though their record was poor. If BYU had let
Lark play when Nelson was hurt, perhaps they would have won at Utah and Boise
State and perhaps they could have pulled it out at San Jose State. The reality
is we have two good college football teams here in Utah. Rivalry is one thing
but it makes both teams better when both teams are good. Kudos for BYU having
two linebackers who are NFL bound and for having another punter who will most
likely end up there as well.
Good to see the DesNews covering college football so closely -- still waiting on
that article about Reggie Dunn being named 1st team All-American and Star being
named 2 team.
eagleMaybe in a day or two. At last count, there were 8 articles
about Majerus. The D-news probably feels they've reached the saturation
point for Utah-related articles.
So where is the story on the Ute players D-News? I like to see both programs do
well. And if there are any Utah State Aggies that made these teams, let's
get on it.
More Cougar All Americans. The list continues to grow.
Going to the NFL is not the most important thing in the world or the safest.
It's a dog eat dog frenzy.
What a let down. When I saw the headline, I thought the Riley was Riley Nelson,
what a letdown when I read further to find out it was the other Riley.
Obviously the voters didn't know what Bronco knows.
Children, please stop the very childish bickering. The two BYU players
mentioned in the story deserve credit not childish taunts. I am also sure their
is a story out their about the two Utah players named to the list. They too
deserve credit for their accomplishments. Congrats to all the players. It is
an accomplishment just to be on a team. So many are not.
Why would Kyle come back next season? The only chance he will return is if draft
advisors can't assure him he'll be taken in the first few rounds.
Otherwise there is no incentive to return. He already suffered an injury that
could have ended his career and was fortunate it did not. If he is going to
stick on an NFL roster then he should absolutely go. We will miss him
tremendously if he does leave but he has to do what's best for his future.
Chris B Winning record in your conference?
@utahcountyute"It just seems odd that the Dnews would mention
KVH and the punter but not Reggie and Star from the same list. Why is that? I
mean, I would comment on the article mentioning the 1st and 2nd team
All-Americans from the U, but there isn't one. Go figure."Obviously they don't like utah as much and are trying to ignore them. You
should complain. More.
Cool for Van Noy, I hope Reggie Dunn was MVP as a special teams player, best
return man perhaps in the history of football.

big 12 call yet?
So. Cal ReaderI think you are referencing "Ziggy".
I'll give you credit for not following very closely. Shoot, a lot of true
cougar fans haven't followed very close.Ziggy has come out of
nowhere to show good performance now, with huge upside for growth. These awards
don't reward future upside, they recognize present performance.Pro scouts will have to decide just how much better he can become and if he is
worth the high pick. It will be fun to watch.
Great honors for two individuals who will be playing on Sundays. I only hope I
get to see one more year of KVN in Blue and White, but my best guess is he will
move on to the NFL next year.crissy b - do a little research to
understand how many times your Utes punted versus how many times the Cougs
punted and how many 3 and outs your Utes had versus how many BYU had.
Great honors to both. Job well done! I'm selfish, but I hope Kyle returns
for his senior year. Just curious- if, indeed, Izzy (who I do like; amazing
story) is supposed to be a nat'l first round darling, as has been written
about by this paper over & over again but no mention of him even as an
honorable mention. Do I see another Cougs over-hype?

players being named All-Americans has nothing to do with U!
Congrats Kyle & Riley! Wish you could have had great coaches to match your

around to it shortly though. Maybe.
Congratulations Riley and KVN - great honors!
Is this actually bad news for cougar fans? Me thinks BYU will really need Van
Noy to come back next year ... but will he?
