Of course Hamas is going to claim victory. What do you expect a terrorist organization is going to say, "We got our butts whipped?" They gained nothing. Hamas lost some leadership and Israel is still there. As the previous poster correctly pointed out, the ordinary Palestinians suffer the most. But, they've made their bed by allowing Hamas to control them so I guess they'll have to sleep in it from time to time.

Re: "Hamas feels it emerged with gains . . . ."

Of course it did -- all terrorists of any stripe have to do is make trouble and Chamberlainesque Eurosocialists, in both Europe and America, will give them anything they want.

The real losers in these terrorist tantrums are the poor, ignorant, ordinary Palestinians, who will always end up on the short end of the stick, until they come to "love their children more than they hate Jews."

Israeli Offensive???? Really. Just the very title is biased. Israel's actions were defensive. After all of this time and all of the rockets fired into southern Israel it way past time for an Israeli response. The offensive was and has always been, on the part of Hamas.
