There were no upsets Manti and San Juan both won! Should be a great championship
game next week!
It's halftime right now. Glad to see that Manti did in fact show up for
this game. I know the Moab fans were worried that Manti wouldn't show
up...not to worry folks.
Hey 2A fan everyone knows that Emery is a much better team at home, just check
there record. And when Manti played them they were playing there best ball of
the year. But the score doesn't show the 2 touchdowns that were called back
on Manti. Manti had to fight through some bad officiating. Every play past 20
yards was called back in that game. And let's look at this Juan Diego just
beat Hurricane by 30+ points the team that beat the best team San Juan played
Snow Canyon by 30+. Manti played Juan Diego better than any 3A team. That game
was 7-6 until Manti fumbled inside there 10 with a few minutes to half, they
scored and until the end of the game it was 14-6 for Juan Diego, and Manti
didn't have there field goal kicker that game either. So talk about the
Emery game but that's much more impressive than anyone San juan has played.
I think San juan is good but just don't know how good, let's see how
they respond when they have someone play them toe to toe and see how they
respond. Manti's played those type of games!
@Me Myself and I Well said!@abitoutside,Thanks for the info on
how to get the game. I'm low tech so I'll get my kids to set me up.We
are taking a team of 4rth and 5th graders to Gallup to compete in a little
league football tourney Sat.-Sun.Good luck to all teams. Monticello as well,
Duchesne will be tough but I think the Bucks can do it.I'm ready for
Fumbles/turnovers generally happen because of the defense and uncharacteristic
or not when you play against a good defense they happen. when a team gets back
on their heels and is worried and trying too hard they happen. Make it happen
again Red Devils. Go Broncos!
First of all nobody likes to feel disrespected. Unfortunately I think a lot of
time in support of our teams our positive support comes off as disrespectful to
other teams when we omit acknowledging the other team's accomplishments and
strengths. At this point of the season there aren't any teams that
don't deserve to be where they are. No matter the circumstances
they've all earned the right to keep playing one more game. I remember 3
years ago in 2A Grand was a lower seed in the then 2A East region. They went on
the road and beat an Enterprise team that had been destroying most everyone they
played. No one gave Grand a chance in that game and no one gave them a chance in
the semi-finals against S. Summit. Grand eventually lost to S. Summit in that
semi-final game but they were in the game right down to the end. Saturday will
be a great day for football no matter who you cheer for.
If you have a smart phone you can download the tunein radio app and listen to
the game. I know a local station in central Utah will have the game on, D-News
will probably stream the game over the internet.
I am glad that we are having a great year. I am exicted for the match up with
San Juan. This will be a close game for sure. The problem I have is San Juan is
always better coached than we are. For whatever reason we always have turnover
issues when we play San Juan. I hope that is not the case but I have my doubts.
Nothing wrong with having pride in your part of the state. Sorry if your
feelings got hurt. I reviewed my posts and don't see where you get beating
our own chest from. One could argue that Grand was not ready for Beaver. I share
my OPINION, other people share thier OPINION. Its people trying to excuse Grands
win over Millard as a fluke that is irritating. Millard also only beat one team
with a winning record, Emery. Just adding to the facts you provided. Grand won
Millard lost. And if a team can't make a big improvemet then why did
it take beaver till ot to beat gunnison? They lost to Richfielsd, and beat Kanab
by 1. Then started destroying everything in thier path. Blew out Gunnison 48-7
in the play in game, and held San Juan to 20 points! Beaver is one of the few
teams that haven't played SJ's jv for a quarter and a half. I know
Manti and SS will come to play. I know SJ will, and I hope like heck Grand does.
I won't even be able to hear the game on the radio. I'll be in Gallup
Right it is high school football, so you should not act like beating Millard was
the greatest win since the Jets won the super bowl. Beating your own chest and
talking about how great football is in SE Utah is a little much. I hope Manti
and S. Summit come to play and then we will not need to hear it for another
week. I am sorry to break it to you, a team does not make that big
of an improvement from getting destroyed by Beaver to beating Millard, there are
other factors, Millard was not ready, they were looking ahead to Cedar. I am not
saying that it was not a great win for Grand, it was a great win, it could turn
your program around. This week will be a good measuring stick of how much
improvement your team has made. Manti is finally getting
healthy at the right time and are focused not over looking Grand, if S. Summit
does not turn the ball over they will give San Jaun everything they can
handle.It should be exciting.
Abitoutside, You guys up north should read the whole post. I never said
Manti should stay home. No one can accept that Grand won a game that they
weren't supposed to, it's because of turnovers, it was at home, if
they had made the 2 point conversion, blah blah blah. Also never said that Grand
kicked Millard all over the field. Grand held em off on the 2 pt conv. Millard
owned most of the 4rth quarter. It was a good game both teams played tough,
Grand came out on top. South summit has won three games against teams with
winning records, Millard, Emery, Richfield. Beaver has only won one game against
a team with a winning record, Grand. Grand looked like cheerleaders in the game
against Beaver. A completely different Grand team played Millard. I watched both
games. Grand has a serious challenge ahead of them. I'm a devil fan
so I'll pull for em. This is San Juan's game to lose on sat. I was
shocked last year when Millard knocked em off.Any thing can happen,
it's FOOTBALL, and high school football at that.
Abitoutside, I doubt anybody is overlooking anybody at this point and I'm
sure that both Manti and SS aren't relying on luck. I know that at some
point SS is finally going to get that win over SJ that they've been longing
for. I sure hope it isn't this time. Good luck to all teams. Go Broncos!
To a bit outsideActually the game is tied if Millard converts the
two point conversion.
Guarantee you San Juan isn't overlooking south summit. Plus the north teams
have said all year that the south region might as well stay home when the
playoffs start. Everyone was talking about how San Juan better be ready for
emery it will be the best team they have played all year. Emery was possibly the
worst team San Juan played with exception of parowan and enterprise.
Grand has won 2 games against teams with winning records, Millard and Richfield,
Manti has had the most difficult schedule of anyone in 2A, and every top team
played was on the road, and they won all except Juan Diego, had a shot at Juan
Diego. You guys down south make it sound like Manti and S. Summit
may as well stay home. When Millard played S. Summit they lost their QB on the
second play, or that game could have been different. Millard converts the 2
point conversion last Friday the game is over, you make is sound like Grand
kicked Millard all over the field, you got two late TD's when Millard was
desperate. Millard was not ready, I hope you are not banking on the Manti kids
coming to play not prepared and looking forward to the showdown with S. Summit.
San Juan better come ready to play, S. Summit is a very good team and were
looking ahead to this week. Maybe with e little luck, Manti and S.
Summit can keep it close.
If you could, list the major turnovers that had a real impact. I was watching
the game and grand also threw a big int. that millard marched back to score on.
Grands int. at the end just put the nail in the coffin. Grand also received 3
holding calls in a row in the first half. Watching the game millard's
missed extra points and a failed 2 point conv. had a huge impact. Those millard
boys could march up the middle! It sounds like your saying that because beaver
beat grand that grand has no chance and south summit could surprise us. South
summit handled millard, san juan handled grand, so if you think of it that way
there is no way san juan can lose! Also, holding on to the ball is an important
part of the game. Doesn't make grand lucky, they played tough, against
beaver they did not.One thing for sure is, anything can happen in sports
regardless of your past achievements.Good luck to all teams this Sat.
Hey ctj fan. How do you explain manti being down 14 to 0 at half time to emery.
I know they won 15 to 14. I think emery was the worst team San Juan has played
all year with exception of parowan and enterprise. I don't know how emery
even kept it close with the three north teams. They were bad!
San Juan has basically the same kids playing as last year and they are playing
harder. They aren't thinking they are great. They are a hard working team
and maybe the key word is team.
Not sure how tough, it took major turnovers by Millard to lose to Grand and
turnovers by South Summit just to keep Richfield in the game. San Juan is tough
but if Grand got beat by that Beaver team by 20+ points Manti will have to cough
it up a half dozen times and have every call go against them to lose this game.
If South Summit limits the turnovers that game will be closer than what many
think. In fact I think that whoever wins the turnover battle will win the game.
Remember San Juan was supposed be invincible last year and got ran off the field
by Millard. So it will be interesting, hard to know how good San Juan is,
they've only had one true test. Out of the two South Summit has a better
chance of the underdogs to win.
It definitely looked like Millard was looking past Grand to Manti and got
surprised by a good team. Manti may well be looking for SanJuan and past Grand.
Stick it to them, Red Devils. San Juan will win in a good battle against South
Summit and be ready for either opponent. Another southeast Utah 2A championship
battle would be great!
Go Grand, San Juan and Monticello....Southeast Utah football is tough.
