"Why not state "Killed" rather than trying to clean it up with "Euthanized"?"

For the same reason that we use the word "abortion" when we take the life of a viable human baby child.

Why not state "Killed" rather than trying to clean it up with "Euthanized"? Trying to use words your readers don't understand?

This is why animals should not be humanized with emotional attachments. The mother is wrong in letting this boy write this letter and she has just created another problem child for society to deal with as he gets older. She has just allowed her son to blame society for his problems and will spend the rest of is life not understanding law and order and rules of accountability in a society.

Every time this boy meets an obstacle in his life, he will blame the adults for not caring about his feelings and perpetrate hate and a dysfunctional child hood and adulthood.

Though it may be devastating to a child that a mistake was made, she just taught him he can act out at his moment of suffering passing guilt and accountability on to other individuals. The boy not only lost his cat, the mother just lost her son.
