the reality that only 9% of the population relies on partial entitlements and that less then 4% rely on it as their sole source of income, the reality that the other 42% of people he disparaged work. pay their own bills and pay all other taxes, or that that 47% not only includes the poor but also middle and upper class Americans? I am actually fine with all that reality, but thanks

Redshirt, you just made the most accurate statement that explains why you can't reason with a liberal, they "refuse to accept reality."

To "LDS Liberal" I am confused. Do you now agree with me that the nation (or the leaders of the nation) of Palestine want to destroy Israel?

I know you have a hard time when facts are presented, but please clarify yourself.

However, you again refuse to accept reality. Since the people do not run the government, but Hamas does, Palestine will not accept peace until Israel is destroyed. Do you understand yet? The Government of Palestine is controlled by people who want to destroy Israel.

Please tell me where I ever said that all of Palestine wants Israel gone. You are just twisting words to make your point. The truth is that you would support Obama even if he advocated for concentration camps for all conservatives.

"They do not speak for all Palestinians anymore then Adolph Hitler spoke for all Germans." Actually Lib he did. Hitler controlled the people and the military, just like Hamas does. During the war we were not afforded the opportunity to question which German was for and which one was against war. And Redshirt did not generalize the palestinians, he said Hamas was at fault. He never questioned the idea that some Palestinians would want peace. So no need to get rude.

To "LDS Liberal" Mitt Romney was just repeating what the leaders of Hamas, the governing political group of Palestine, have said.

    HAMAS is a Political Party.
They are a faction of the Palestinian people.

Q: Why do you think they keep calling on Palestians to "unite" to destroy Israel?
A: Because not all Palestinians believe in what they are doing.

They do not speak for all Palestinians anymore then Adolph Hitler spoke for all Germans.

I know this is very hard for you to understand.
That's why you tend to believe in the fairly-tale that all Mormons must all be Republicans, and that all Repubicans must be Mormons.

Israel has since 1967 offered to work with Palestine towards an independent state. Palestine has continued an all or nothing approach. Realize there was never a Palestine state. In 1947, the UN adopted a partition plan for a two-state solution in the remaining territory of the Transjordan mandate. The plan was accepted by the Jewish leadership, but rejected by the Arab leaders. The Arab Higher Committee didn't declare a state of its own and instead, together with Transjordan, Egypt, and the other members of the Arab League of the time, started the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. At the end of the war, Transjordan (Jordan) claimed the West bank and Eygpt took control of the Gaza Strip. During the same time Arab countries across northern Africa and Persia forced Jews to leave their countries. Israel has continued to advocate for a Palestinian state with a guarantee of peaceful co-existence.

To "LDS Liberal" Mitt Romney was just repeating what the leaders of Hamas, the governing political group of Palestine, have said. From the Israel National News "PA Minister: 'Palestinians' Must Unite to Destroy Israel". That seems quite clear. If that isn't good enough for you, read "Hamas member of PA Parliament emphasizes intent to destroy Israel" at JihadWatch.

Why do you refuse to accept the truth that Hamas/Palestine want to destroy Israel? Their leaders can be seen on YouTube saying the same thing, it only takes a quick search to find.

How do your comments relate to Palestine?

Patriot did you forget which article you were commenting on?
What does anything you just said have to do with Palestine?

Israel is NOT without fault and for Mitt to make a comment like this shows his lack of diplomacy usually reserved for radio dj's with no skin in the game.

Mit the mocker is not who we need for president.

I work and pay taxes at more then twice the rate Romney pays and I will not be voting for him. Most of the people I associate with on a regular bases are also middle class and pay a much higher tax rate then Romney and no surprise none of them have any interest in him either. Romney seems to think the middle class is not very bright. Many people in the middle class have caught onto the fact that people like Romney attack the poor in hopes of turning the middle class against them so they can turn around and give more tax breaks to the wealthy.

The Palestinians are formally committed to the destruction of Israel. I think Romney is just be truthful when he says they don't want peace.

Those dead beat entitlement bound drones are in the tank for Obama anyway no matter what Mitt says. Ronald Reagan couldn't attract these people. What Mitt needs to do is just forget these slugs and concentrate on those who do work - do pay taxes and are sick of the socialist slide we are in which includes not only Republicans but Independents and many dis-enchanted Democrats who feel their party has been hi-jacked. Only 50% of America deserves freedom and prosperity today. There is clearly 50% who are just like the socialist do-nothings in socialist Europe today who are burning cars in the streets because their entitlements are gone. American's who do work - and do pay taxes and are ambitious are about to lose their country and I include conservative and liberals in this count. It is the radicals that have taken over and if "true Americans" want to keep their country they are going to have to fight for compromise.

I think Romney's trying to distract you from the great job Obama has done.

If this is what Mitt Romney tells rich strangers behind closed doors this one time...

Kind of makes you wonder what he tells those even closer to his inner circles all the time?!

I would be completely embarrassed should any of our Palestinian friends who DO want peace and who have been befriended by the LDS church hear this message from Romney. He has already managed to offend members of the church in Europe by his unflattering general statements on Europeans. You posters are as ignorant as Mitt - you don't know any facts because you have not spent any time there nor do you know any Palestinians. Furthermore, you don't realize that everyone reads these comments on the internet and it doesn't help us with the majority who are moderate.

"... and we kick the ball down the field and hope that ultimately, somehow, something will happen and resolve it," Romney said.

Where was Romney last September when Obama opposed the Palestinian Authority’s attempt to use the UN Security Council to create a Palestinian state without Israeli agreement? Where was Romney when GW Bush offered his road map for peace? Or when Bill Clinton had Ehud Barak and Yassir Arafat close to an agreement at Camp David? Where is Romney’s secret plan to solve the stalemate that has confounded everyone else?

    He doesn’t have one.

" ... does not make Romney sound like he's paid any attention to what's been going on over there in the past 20 years."

Israel achieved peace with both Egypt and Jordan after the 1967 Six Day War. Those who think the Palestinians have any desire to live in peace with Israel under any terms haven't paid any attention to what's been going on over there for the last 65 years.

The Palestinian leaders are not interested in Peace at all. They are after all Hamas who wants Israel destroyed.

Romney should take the advised of John Wayne in one of his movies and Leroy Jethro Gibbs. "Never apoligize, it's a sign of weakness".

  • Craig Clark Boulder, CO

Saying that Palestinians are not interested in peace with Israel does not make Romney sound like he's paid any attention to what's been going on over there in the past 20 years.
