What name have you picked after this weekend?

Good question.... will you be posting under both names this weekend or is "Duckhunter" on a another business trip?
    Typical troll hypocrisy.

Who am I sir: great post. Last year's blowout had nothing to do with Utah's defense. It was all Jake Heaps. It had nothing to do with Trevor Reilly being in BYU backfield all day. It was Jake's inability to get a handle on the ball. It had nothing to do with a better overall program that beaten BYU 7 of the last 10 years. It had to do with Jake's being overrated,,,Just ask any BYU fan. They can't be beaten without helping the other team

I bet you wished you had nickel for every field goal missed against Colorado, eh?

You guys lost to a WAC team last week and people are predicting BYU to beat you this week.

Maybe that BYU kicker that Ducky and Sammy told us about will kick a 70 yard field goal like they say he can.

I don't see how special teams can be the determining factor. Not when God favors one side and that side is so morally superior.

Regardless of the score the Y will not be beaten. They may give the game away. Question: Has the Y ever been beaten due to the other team playing better?

One thing to watch for in the game is - How fast can the offensive lineman (in condition after all these years) back peddle.

Along a different line: Yesterday there was an article where a Ute Zone reporter was asked direct questions about the Utes. I felt it was an objective and informed analysis. Several Y fans viewed it similarly (except for DuckHunter). I invite you to read it if you haven't yet. I looked forward to a similar article about the Y today; however, a Y fan said the author did this for all Y opponents but not the Y. I can understand this if the paper was the Daily Universe but the Deseret News? I could hear Colonel Jessop screaming, "You can't handle the truth."

Hoping for another classic game Saturday. Go Utes.

It really sounds like the team making the fewest special teams blunders wins, if it's close. Yes, I realize that's fairly self-evident, and that one team's blunder is usually the other team's stellar play.

But when I think about BYU special team bads, TCU comes first to mind.

I still say, if Riley scrambles (not necessarily runs), BYU wins. If Utah contains him like Tulsa did, long night...

Chris from Rose Park, fair enough, although I was kind of more referencing any particularly good special teams plays by BYU making the difference rather than just bad plays by Utah.

it won't be special teams that make the difference. It will be the offensive line play. Can Utah protect the quarterback and can BYU's line open any holes for the running game.

The Utes special teams are poor at best. BYU's is much improved, kickers solid, Hoffman and Falslev are very good. Utah needs to step it up. Both have very good defenses, edge I give to Utah. Offensive edge to BYU. Coaching, well have to go with Whit but Bronco is no slouch. Home field to the U. But Special teams could turn the tables for the Cougs for sure.

Special teams were an advantage at least in 2009. I think BYU ended up winning that game because Utah punt blockers couldn't seem to get the idea to not touch the kicker after he punted the ball. If I remember right, there was a play where Ute's special teams hit our returner early, giving us good field position. It's been awhile, but I think my memory is serving me right. So...that's at least one game.

sammyg, when has special teams ever given BYU the advantage in the series? All I can think of is 34-31, 34-31, 3-0, 17-16, etc, etc.

No beer throwing and no caffeine free beverage throwing would be good. Although now we should also ban caffeinated drinks as well I guess.

I just hope that the two teams can represent their respective institutions, that no one gets injured, and that the fans can behave. Any contentions response to this should be shamed, as I merely want for sportmanship and integrity. Go UTES!!
