lol at your homeristic inconsistency - Utah can have a bad day losing to a Bottom 20 10-loss team that hadn't won a road game in THREE years, but BYU can't have a 7-turnover implosion against a Top 40 team.

After BYU's meltdown, the Cougars finished winning 9 of their last 10 and in the Top 25.

After BYU's gift, the Utes LOST four of their last 10, including to TWO teams with losing records to finish nowhere near the Top 25.

but but but Jenny. Your Utes had a greased schedule to Disneyland, a parade, a south division championship but you lost the biggest game of the season to a 10 loss Colorado.

BYU lost a game that most coaches recognized as a fluke or shall we say discounted when it came to awarding that Top 25.

    "Like it never even happened."

Phoenix ---- Any team can lose in any given game...The Utes had a bad day and lost to Colorado by 3 points..... Your team lost to the Utes by 44 on your home field...I would think the 54-10 beat down would hurt much, much worse than the 3 point loss Utah suffered at the hands of Colorado.

Hey Phoenix -- How did the 54 - 10 shallacking feel last year! Expect more of the same this year as well!

Not even the cougar trolls think Chase was "lied to". Can't imagine what dimension you pulled that nonsense out of.
Jon Hays has earned his shot to be in the mix for QB but they also have two freshman who showed a lot of promise in spring ball.
By the way, why the hate on Hays?

That made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I guess you would know since you're Whit's right hand man. I bet Paul Kruger feels the same way after he was recruited as a QB. Sean Smith was recruited as a WR and now plays in the NFL as a corner, I bet he is mad that he got lied to as well. Just because you are recruited to one position does not mean you will play that position or win that position. Not to mention Chase is injured. He could have blown everyone away (not likely) in fall camp if he were healthy. He would have at least been given the chance.

I would much rather have Hays as the backup than Lark. Hays at least has a lot more time on the field. And won the Sun Bowl.

Chase Hansen will probably stay at Utah after his mission, but who could blame him for thinking about transferring after Whittingham basically lied to Chase about being given a chance to play QB for the Utes, and then being all but switched to defense before the ink on his LOI had dried.

Regardless, the Utes are back to relying on Hays as their backup QB if Wynn can't stay healthy for an entire season.

    @pac12fan and kamute

Not one BYU fan made a comment saying Hansen would transfer to BYU, nor did anyone say anything about BYU recruiting him. gdog is a utah fan and he was just speculating but you two immediately got paranoid. Very hilarious, thanks for the laugh.

"BYU was ranked #25 last year in 1 pole[sic]"

And BARELY missed finishing in the Top 25 in the other poll!

    10-3 with a few WAC games = #25 Coaches, #26 AP, #34 Sagarin

8-5 with a mediocre PAC schedule = not a single vote in either poll, #39 Sagarin

Quite obviously, BYU's overall season of only losing three games, all to Top 40 teams, was MUCH more impressive than Utah's five losses to teams ranked as low as #107.

Don't expect the Utes to garner ANY respect nationally if U can't even beat a 10-loss team that hadn't won a road game in 3 or 4 YEARS!

CG.......BYU was ranked #25 last year in 1 pole and they did that playing a mostly WAC schedule .....Congrats!

I expect another top 10 defense nationally and a top 25 offense. I see an 11-2 season and a USC-Utah Showdown(in Utah) to determine who represents the South.

BYU plans on being relevant by continuing to be a perennial Top 25 team.

Utah plans on being relevant by living in the reflected light of the Trojans and Ducks.

So an LDS athletes leaves on a mission and he is immediately free game? I sure hope not as BYU would tend to lose more athletes than other schools.

Whittingham is the best defensive coach in the country, hands down. He takes the best athletes and turns them into studs. How qb's turned into defensive players because they were in the wrong position. Recruit the athlete and teach. It's worked.

Why would Chase go to BYU? That was a ridiculous comment unless it means you expect your school to go after missionaries as well as the 9th graders?

If that gets started, it could get very ugly and give your school a black eye.

1st utah fan I have heard say that. I personally doubt Hansen transfers to BYU, I think he has committed himself to utah, but I absolutely believe he will wind up playing defense and his shoulder injury is something I told you guys about months ago. utah's coaches knew it, as did every other coach recruiting him, that is why I have always doubted their sincerity about him playing qb, they have always known he wouldn't in the long run.

But I certainly would be pleased for him if the surgery is a success so he can get back to playing, he is a very fine athlete and should become a very good college player at whatever position on defense he winds up at.

"Utah's roster includes players from 13 states and Australia"

Also punter Sean Sellwood is from South Africa, although he lists Utah as his home as he went to high school at Judge.

I also think Chase Hansen will end up playing defense down the road. But I wouldn't put it past Chase to find a way to rehab the shoulder, go on a mission, and be a solid QB either.

A few years down the road, Chase could end up with Utah or at BYU. Who knows? Good luck to him regardless.
