I think the results of this game somewhat show the value of DeMarre Carroll to the Jazz. When he was playing previously, they were winning. And when he didn't play in this last game, they didn't. He was especially missed in the 2nd half when the Jazz were out-hustled and out-defensed in losing their halftime lead. And that's especially what Carroll brings to the team... lots of hustle and a tenacious defense.
Overall, there is much reason to feel optimistic about the younger Jazz players from what they showed in the Summer league play, as they finished with a winning record. It was a learning process that allowed them to continue growing as players.
With the player changes made recently, there is every reason to expect an improved and very entertaining season from the Jazz.
