    Black & Blue,
Well, ya know he was no Uale. But making hard, legal hits has a place in college football, too, so we're happy to have him.

That's ok what you are saying, we held your team to 10pts and I'm sure we will do it again. Blechen is just another one of the players from the U that will play at the next level. I'm a Ute fan and I am very optimistic about 2012, aren't you about your cougs. I cannot believe how you and BO can even comment about the defence at the U. When and if you ever beat the U again stop the chatter. And BO, how many interceptions did you get last year and don't talk about Junior College level, 3/4 of your season was aginst teams in the same classification.

I absolutely love Blechen!! You can always expect something fun to watch when he is on the field. Love his dedication and I'm glad they moved him back to safety. He may not be the fastest guy out there but he IS smart and instictive. You can't replace those two traits. Gotta love watching him play. The kid is a Beast!!

GO UTES!!! August can't come soon enough!

"Its a fluff piece devoid of substance."

Fluff is the stock-in-trade of the DN. Substantive coverage and insight simply requires too much work.

Usually, however, DN fluff is reserved for extolling the preseason national championships of BYU.

    Hey Elmer,
    Why is that sour grapes.
Its a fluff piece devoid of substance.
If you like that stuff then enjoy it.

    @ BO

"Wow, he had 3 interceptions........ And 2 of them against a junior college level team. That means he only had one against the rest of the opponents. He is truly amazing!"

    Sour Grapes!!!

Why the buzz about Blechen? He really was a non-factor most of last season. He should never have been moved to LB. He was too small to take on good O-Lineman. Just check out USC guard Joe Martinez absolutely destroying Blechen on Youtube. Star is the only force on the Utah defense.
I am not sure what Utah fans are so optimistic about? Even with a god-given schedule and avoiding the 2 best teams in the PAC-12, Utah managed to drop 5 games including losses to Colorado, ASU, UW, and Cal. Not to mention it took Overtime to beat the mighty Washington State Cougars. Utah will always be 2nd to USC in the south, but i do think they will be competitive in 2-3 years. They will have to manage beating the likes of Colorado and WSU on a regular basis however..

"And 2 of them against a junior college level team."

Of course Utah only play 2 JC level teams last year... If they had play 4+ JC level teams like a certain team down south, Blechen may have had more ints.

The thing that impressed me about Blechen the most is when he got absolutely blown up late in the USC game and jumped right up and started yapping at the USC player. A hit like that to most other players and they would NOT even be getting up, let alone popping right up and getting in his face.

Blechen is a stud . The Utes defense is better with him on the field no matter what position he lines up as. I know we lost a handful of great players but it sounds like the defense will be just as good if not better than last years.

Can't wait for the season to begin and to see what this team can do.

Glad to see The Beekeeper is staying at safety, I really thought he was more effective playing safety than linebacker. Can't wait to see some more bone crushing hits on opposing receivers.
