Naval vet- Ok, you got me, I was thinking on the fly which is sometimes bad to do LOL. Anyway, how about Gene Roddenberry? Will that work by saying that the only good thing to come out of EL Paso is the creator of Star Trek? It seems you have a humor deficiency, so I hope that you will find some, if not in my post, somewhere else.

P.S. Thank you for your service! I really do mean that!

@defibman i think i remember reading somethin like byu fans, players, coaches, sports writers (byus of course)claiming you were gonna win the nat. championship and you cant even beat a team with a winning record hahahaha and you have the guts to make fun of utah fans?? really bro?? lol you're a byu dreamer. cause thats all it will ever be is a dream. y will never be able to compete in a bcs conference week in and week out and theyre doing a good job of showing us now. yeah yeah look at the u record. SOS

@defibman and Eddie...LOL..You are both happy with the nobody cares bowl each year, and playing cupcake teams. The Y can't compete with even average teams, they get stomped unless their playing the Idaho State's of the world. I'm glad your happy with that, LOL....54 - 10 LOL, 7 of the last 10 LOL

Get off our boards nobody cares about the Y. They don't belong to a conference, they can't beat a team with a winning record, they have no chance at ever making a BCS game, let alone winning one when we already have 2, lol... I know, I know 84 nat title when you were both 2 years old and the Y struggled to beat a 6-6 Michigan team in the holiday bowl...LOL

defibman - Blechen is playing great this year for the U and Burton is in the NFL.

    BTW 54-10

Navel boy, you are the one who is desperate and grabbing at straws hoping the u make it to a bowl. You and your fan base are the ones who were saying that the u was going to win the Pac 12 division race and play in the Rose Bowl. How is that working out for you all? LOL.

Again, good luck even making it to a bowl, let alone winning one. BWAAAA HAAAAAA!

I'm not predicting the future. CougFaninTX was the one saying Utah optimistically wins 3 out of 4 and doesn't make it to the Sun Bowl. I only used her parameters to demonstrate that Utah's remaining schedule suggests a Sun Bowl is more realistic than she does. How desperate of you [and Eddie] to try to pin "crystal balling" on me. That's really more YOUR fanbases' style.

Which bowl is better? Sun Bowl or Armed Forces Bowl

    Payout - big advantage Sun
    Location - big advantage AF
    Opponent - TBD
    Television - CBS = ESPN
Time - 12/31, Saturday 2pm slightly better than 12/30, Friday noon

Frankly, Utah would probably lose money on the Sun Bowl because the Utes would have to eat most of their ticket allotment. I'd be surprised to see 2,000 Utah fans attend the game. How many Utah fans are going to be excited about spending New Years Eve in El Paso?

You used the term "probably". That shows, just like Navel boy's "if" that you are trying to predict the future. I believe what Eddie was saying is that BYU is already going to a bowl while you are still fighting to get there. I, like Eddie, would rather go to a bowl year after year than be in the conference of chumps and either fight for, or not even make it to a bowl game at all.

Welcome to the bottom of the conference of nothings.

@ Eddie: "Who cares what bowl we are going to". It sounds like you are content with the bottom of the barrel bowls. For a BYU fan that is probably the right attitude to have because that is probably all you'll ever get.

    Cougar Keith, you stated:

finish 6-6 and be in a "BOWL GAME" in my book is a plain and simple disgrace! To finish 7-5 and go to a bowl game is a fair reward, to go 6-6 isn't even a WINNING RECORD, and how they count that as "Bowl Eligable" is beyond me!

You just completely condemned your season last year, and that was with a MWC schedule. It appears the only preventing the same thing from happening this year is Idaho, Idaho St. and New Mexico St.

    @ Naval Vet

I see a lot of "IF's" in your post. LOL

That is all you u fans have left is wishes. It is nice to be sitting here already bowl ready and waiting. Who cares what bowl we are going to...we are going already while you wait and wish and hope and pray....oh wait, you don't do that at the u, it is not politically correct. Well, keep waiting and wishing and hopeing and maybe just maybe u will get lucky and go to the toilet bowl.

UCLA [3-2,4-4] has games remaining vs. #20 ASU, at Utah, vs. Colorado, and at #21 USC. The Bruins should beat CU and lose to ASU and USC. Utah should be considered a toss up at this point.

Utah [1-4,4-4] has an easier closing schedule with games remaining at Arizona, vs. UCLA, at WSU, and vs. Colorado. Utah should beat WSU and CU, with Ariz. and UCLA as toss up games.

If you presume that Utah wins 3 of 4, they'll finish 4-5, 7-5. Reasonable assumptions that UCLA would fall to USC and ASU would bring them to a 5-4, 6-6. But if they fell to the Utes as well, they would tie the Utes at 4-5, but fall out of bowl eligibility at 5-7, and Utah gets the Sun.

So it'll most likely boil down to who wins in SLC between Utah and UCLA. Ergo, El Paso is not that far-fetched of a postseason destination for the Utes. Looks like Utah still has much to play for. The cougars...not so much. Haha!

The probability of Utah going to the Sun bowl is slim. There is a greater probability that they do not make a bowl game. In order to go to the Sun Bowl, U would likely need to win all four of your remaining games. Let's assume, optimistically, that U win 3 of your last 4 and finish 7-6 (although I think a 6-6 record is more likely), and let's assume that both Oregon and Stanford get a BCS invite, here's how the PAC12 bowl tie in's are likely to go.

    1. Oregon - BCS
    2. Stanford - BCS
    3. USC - no invite
    4. Washington or ASU - Alamo
    5. Washington or ASU - Holiday
    6. UCLA - Sun Bowl
    7. Utah - Las Vegas (to be humiliated by TCU or BSU one more time)

In a regular year with PAC12 getting one BCS invite, and no eligible teams - a 6-6 or 7-5 Utah team is headed to the New Mexico bowl.

" finish 6-6 and be in a 'BOWL GAME' in my book is a plain and simple disgrace!"

I'd have to question as to whether or not that was your position last December when the Y packed their bags and flew down to Albuquerque to play in the New Mexico Bowl...with a 6-6 record, and thanks to Chad Bunn.

For the record, Utah had never played a postseason game with a "disgraceful" 6-6 record.

I get a real kick out of the frantic and emotional hypocritical cougar fans - such as yourself - who would say, "don't count your chickens before they are hatched!" in the EXACT SAME post as "you'll get no bowl...for the next two or three years!"

    Keep wishing Keith.

    Oh yeah...and 54-10! Haha!

Pace Picante sauce is made in San Antonio, where folks know what picante sauce should taste like. You had mistakenly misrepresented Pace for "Old El Paso", which by my understanding is NOT manufactured in Texas.

While El Paso -- as a city -- may not be as fun or easy to get to for Utah fans as would be Las Vegas, San Diego, or Ft. Worth [and arguably, even Albuquerque], the Sun Bowl IS a better bowl [both in payout and prestige] than the Las Vegas, Poinsettia, Armed Forces, and New Mexico Bowls.

San Diego has the Holiday Bowl -- which easily trumps the Sun -- but that was not a bowl the MWC has ever had access to. Ergo, Uncle Rico was correct.

    And you were wrong.

I get a real kick out of you "Ute" fans, don't count your chickens before they are hatched! You still have to win 2 more games! I think you might beat Colorado, but any other win will be tough sledding for the Utes! You will be lucky if you finish 5-7 and to finish 6-6 and be in a "BOWL GAME" in my book is a plain and simple disgrace! To finish 7-5 and go to a bowl game is a fair reward, to go 6-6 isn't even a WINNING RECORD, and how they count that as "Bowl Eligable" is beyond me! I am hoping BYU goes into the Big XII, and if they do, they will have a couple years like you are going through now, it's inevitable. If they go to the "Big East", that is a joke, I'd rather stay independant or go for Conference USA & MW with an automatic qualifier. The Mountain is giving the Shaft to Boise State sticking them out in the Cold the way they did! Well Utah, get used to it, you'll get no bowl or the toilet bowl for the next two or three years!

Yes it is in El Paso. But it is against an ACC team.
Sun bowl has twice the payout as the Vegas bowl.

Uncle Rico- You're kidding right? El Paso? Nothing hosted in El Paso is better than a bowl the Utes have been to lately. I don't care if it seems better or is hosted later in December, It's still El Paso and the only good thing to come out of El Paso is Pace Picante Sauce!

"Andy Katz discusses Utah's edge at the Huntsman Center."

Obviously Andy hasn't seen the Utes play in the HC lately -- that vast sea of Utah fans disguised as empty red chairs is really going to impress conference foes.

This year has been tough. Utes still have a chance to go to their best non-BCS bowl ever. This bowl is better than what #1 in MWC gets if they are not undefeated.
