Stacking the deck with pro-illegal groups gets us no where. I doubt it's going to change one persons mind. These people are here to supply business with cheap illegal labor, and the Democrats with voters in the future.

I beleive that the only way to handle the problem is to send them back were they came from and make them enter this country legally. There are a lot of people waiting to enter this country the legal way and I beleive that they should have the frist shot at enter this country. I also know that there are alot of them married to U.S. citzens, and if it separtes family that is on them. I beleive that there is enough burden on the taxpayers without the added burden of foodstamps medical, and the school systems, that it's time to put a stop to all the free stuff the illegals are getting. Send them back home and if their family raise too much trouble send them with them to keep the family together.

So, this conference is once again about sugar coating the term illegal to immigrants. Again, what part of "illegal" do these individuals not understand? Why must we continue to cater to these illegals as if they are wonderful immigrants? No other country in the world would be so kind and generous. No other country would bend over backwards to welcome them into their country and embrace them as "one of us." Why? I say enough. These individuals and organization do this great nation a major disservice by even having this dialogue. Deport all illegals. Deny them free medical attention/healthcare, free education from K-12 and beyond. Deny them drivers licenses, social security benefits. In other words, confiscate all these illegals have obtained in this country and deport them. There is no national pride or loyalty to this country. It is all about entitlements. Enough. This is all about VOTES. Current votes (yes, we are victims of voter fraud from local to state to national elections) and future votes. This whole ordeal is truly about favoring one race over another or over many others. Wrong. American first all others apply properly and stop invading our country.

Illegal immigration is killing our country - plain as the nose on your face; ...and like an addict for heroin, the public craves federal money and other funding, including work done by illegals. This has placed this country ar risk, depleted resources, increased crime, and allowed threats to enter this country's unprotected borders. Come on people, get a grip !!!!

As usual, our "out of touch with the people" bunch of "leaders" are out in front of the immigration debate pushing veiled amnesty. The last thing we need is to legalize the theft of millions of jobs and make those who stole them legitimate and in the process make them eligible for more handouts. This is nothing less than insanity on a grand scale. The states who are enforcing the law are the real ones who are out in front of the debate, they are doing exactly what needs to be done. Enforcement is clearly the direction a majority of citizens want, stop kidding yourself and trying to make the shoe fit. The Utah law will never be implemented, it is not going to pass the legal test to begin with and Shurtleff and others who are pushing it are going to be thrown out on their ears.

I think that this is absolutely wonderful!!!!!
I think immigrants are wonderful and bring so much to this country. They are hardworking, and they try to immigrate at least somewhat into the country way of life here by learning the language and getting legal jobs and paying all the different taxes and obeying the laws of the land.

Now ILLEGAL ALIENS is a whole different story!!!

The first three commenters have hit the nail on the head. Let's just hope that the participants of this conference know or are aware of the distinct difference between Legal immigration and Illegal immigration. What is wrong with everyone who comes here does so LEGALLY? Viva Legal immigration.

The usual suspects. Shurtleff, Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Church etc. This story as usual tries to blur the line between legal and illegal. These suspects are doing their best to make Utah the illegal magnet.

The ONLY correct and relatively easy solution is to simply enforce the laws.

However, just looking at the list of speakers it is clear that this is a "pro-amnesty" rally.

They will pay lip service to the distinction between legal and illegal, but their actions will all be to subvert our laws and grant amnesty on the pretext of "humanitarian" or "social justice" or "don't hurt the children" excuses.

The liberal media will come out in favor of all these schemes, and once again law abiding and tax paying American citizens will suffer unequal treatment.

Please take 10 minutes out of this conference and make a list of the laws that U.S. citizens should not have to obey, since you think it is okay for others to get away with ignoring laws.

I think it is great that we realize the credit that is due immigrants to our states. All of us come from immigrants to this great country.

But, let's not allow ourselves to get confused on the difference between legal and illegal immigrants.

The illegals have created the situation that must be addressed NOW.
