yes Jordan Wynn looked terrible, but then again he isn't touted as the greatest
qb in the history of the world like little Jake is. Heaps is over-rated, first
Cougar qb to lose to the Aggies and Utes in a single season since....? He
should call his press agent and have him write up a little press release on
"Heaps was the headliner, being named as the number one quarterback
prospect in the country when he signed in 2010. [...] Given each of their
pedigrees coming in, the performance each of them put forth against Ole Miss was
expected."Say what? With Heaps's pedigree coming in, exactly
who expected him to score as many points for the other team as for his own? Not
me. Not with all his hype through the summer.I was puzzled at first
by your title's reference to a "touchdown trio" because BYU only
scored two TDs. Then I realized that you were counting BYU's two TDs for Apo
and Van Noy and Ole Miss's for Heaps, who threw it.
As frustrating as the game was for the first 3 quarters, the mistakes made by
the offense are easily correctable. BYU just needs to pick up the tempo a bit
and finish drives on offense and clean up the ST mistakes. Defense needs to
just build on the great performance they had. Texas no doubt will be a tougher
challenge and BYU will have to play better overall to win but if they correct
the mistakes, they will have a great chance to win.
lets get one thing straight plyxply....auburn isn't very good this year and usu
is definitely not that great either. mark my words, BYU will win by 30
something points so don't go letting one good game against mediocrity make you
puff up like that. try beating BYU more then once every 20 something years
before you pop off with your attitude....utah fans have the right but you
If you don't dream, you don't achieve.Glad to see these three can
dream AND make it come true!
plyxply | 12:23 p.m. Sept. 6, 2011 SLC, UT "If not for a
terrible mistake by Ole Miss, the Cougs are making excuses about why they lost,
instead everyone feels all hunky dory about the win"Well since
you want to play that game, if not for a terrible mistake by BYU throwing an
interception at the goal line and a missed field goal attempt, this game would
have ended up 24-6. What if's can be called on all day long but what if's don't
change the outcome of a game do they. And second, a season is 11 or
12 games long. One game does not a season make. Do you really think that Utah
State thinks because they almost won at Auburn that the rest of the season will
be piece of cake? I mean what if, Utah's defense and special teams had not made
their plays, would Utah have stunk up the field? How dumb to play what if. The rest of us play on facts, the results are there. BYU and Utah 1-0.
USU 0-1. Want to play some more??
plyxply"It's now looking likely that BYU will lose to both the
Utes and the Aggies in back to back seasons..."Based on what...
Wynn's completely underwhelming performance against a Big Sky team at home
(barely 100 yards passing), or Utah State's choking away a game on the road in
the final two minutes?Sounds like you're just channeling your own
insecurities and breathing a sigh of relief that the Utes were playing the
Bobcats instead of the Aggies last Thursday.
plyxply I love how you are the judge and jury after one game of who
is average.Let's not play anymore games, lets just hand the NC
trophy to the SEC and let them pass it around for a while. Then we can all bow
down to the mighty utes for their two BCS wins and a lackluster performance
against ... who did you play last week?If BYU is just average and
beat a team on the road in the SEC, what does that make u playing less than
stellar at home against ... oh yeah Montana State? You should stay
out of BYU articles. You'll feel better.
plyxply - The only thing worse than that is playing a LESS than
average Big Sky team, at home, and having your quarterback and team still
struggle. But again, what's new?I think you get my drift.
no more nervous than the Cougs are for the Aggies visit to Provo. It's now
looking likely that BYU will lose to both the Utes and the Aggies in back to
back seasons, you should look that one up and see when it happened last.
PlyXply; You sound a little nervous. Are you worried about 9-17?
Great effort by the defense. Field corners are giving way to much on 3rd and
long. It seemed like we were giving an auto. 1st down ,rather than taking away
the completion needed! Less verbage on how great we are,and focus on getting
better, by young players. The competition just tacks all that verbage to their
lockeroom walls, and use it against their Opponents. There will be time enough to
talk about those attributes after the season, and following a successful run at
Independance. Action speaks louder than words.Great comeback effort by both
Offense and Defense.
Hopefully we see even more this week. The announcer kept talking
about how Ole Miss was shutting down our receivers, but each of the three times
Jake went over the top to Apo he had his man beat. A little bit more or less on
those balls and he could have had himself an excellent day indeed. Hopefully
they can connect a bit more on Saturday!Go Cougars!
a very average game by an average team. Jake Heaps struggles again vs. a decent
team, what's new? If not for a terrible mistake by Ole Miss, the Cougs are
making excuses about why they lost, instead everyone feels all hunky dory about
the win. Heaps
