I am starting to feel for Burton. Round 4 came and went and he is still without a team. Am still dumbfounded he elected to forgo his senior season. He had a lot of room to improve and another season in the PAC would have helped quite a bit.

Who will be the first Cougar selected this year?

What can I say. USU first pick, nothing against either one of those utes you are bragging about, but maybe the NFL knows more than wedgie and Chris. You two should call the nfl and let them know they have no knowledge of good and bad and who is better.

SN rankings, are they really a credible source, look at the articles the author has done before. I have relied on the SN for baseball in the past, really thought they had their stuff on it. College football and saying the u would go undefeated, sounds like he could be a roomy or wedgie.

Go aggies, way to go, good luck to Burton and Silga, hope you do get selected.

Hmmmm.....perhaps the talent on the hill is not quite up to the level wedgie would like us to believe it is? On the bright side it doesn't look like the players that left will be that big of a loss.

uteowl, unless you are strapping on a helmet or have a mouse in your pocket, don't use the term "we" when talking about the team you root for. That term is for those whose bodies take a beating on the field, not for their lunch money.

Ouch, round 3 is done and Burton is still around.

Ouch? He'll get his chance, don't you worry. Speaking of OUCH... it's still BLOCKED.

Little Ol' USU put a whopping on BYU, they already have the bragging rights.

Congratulations to USU Curtis Marsh as the first local guy to get drafted.

Little Ol' USU scores first blood and bragging rights. That's great!

I think that Brandon should have played his senior year and made some improvements, triple that for Siliga. Rounds 1-3 are gone, yet he and Siliga are still available. I wish them the best of luck, but come on guys. Who has your ears?

If the Utes had stayed in the MWC, BYU would probably have stayed, which means:

the Utes would have finished no better than 4th in the MWC this year, behind BYU, TCU and BSU, and possibly, SDSU.

Pre-season polls are meaningless, but knock yourself out beating your chests about being ranked if it makes you feel better.

September 17th will be the acid test of whether it means anything.

Yeah if Utah had stayed in the MW I doubt they would have gotten past BYU to go undefeated, I mean BYU will probably finish no worse the 3rd in the Big 1+3 irrelevants. BCS is as good as wrapped up...

Congrats to Chris B and the Utes for playing Oregon in the PAC-12 Championship.

...And, to Hedgehog for the Utes 21st place finish.

Now, would it be OK if the rest of us watch the season play out without marking things down?

These preseason polls don't mean squat! Let's wait and see what happens when they all have to go out and play. Can't wait for the season to start. GO all teams from the great state of UTAH!

woooooo wait a minute. How can a team that is supposed to go undefeated ( crushing TX,UT,TCU,ORst,) and win the Heiman not be in the top 25?

And a team that has a washed-up OC, china doll QB and swiss cheese Oline be ranked 21st?

    Answer? Bigotry

    I wonder which is better?

Playing Oregon in the Pac 12 championship game or finishing back to back seasons at 7-6?

It will keep getting harder and harder for recruits to pick between the Utah schools.

Congrats to Burton, Zane, and all other Utes. You provide even more reasons kids the recruting battles will be dominated in the years to come.

Although this top 25 list is more credible than some made up list on "Bleacher Report" none of these preseason lists amount to anything other than some positive mojo.
The Utes have all the components they need to do very well in the Pac 12 but in the end it will come down to how Wynn throws the rock after his surgery. Athough there were some spots to fill in the secondary they recruited a ton of talent and speed at that position. The D is totally stacked.
There were only 2 or 3 coners taken in the first round, if there is a run on db's Burton should go tonight for sure.

It will be a surprise if Burton goes in round 2.
Round 3 is more likely. He's good as gone!

    @ uteowl

Keep wishing and keep singing "High Hopes".

It's obvious that the TSN boys didn't watch any Ute football last year nor did they come out and see the Red / White game or do any real research. Very generous of them to mention the Utes when there's little to talk about coming out of Spring training.

Undefeated if stayed in the MWC for 2011? That's funny and with TSN's affiliation to the company that also owns The Comedy Network I now understand the quality of the source.

I'm sure Cougar Nation is really worried about not being in this Top 25. When the Utes lose in Provo this year it will just prove my point.

Burton to the Cowboys??? Pah-leez No! I don't want any reason to even consider the possibility of cheering for them. Somebody else snag him first - Eagles, Reid are you reading this?

TSN's Post Spring Top 25 ranking of the Utes and the accompanying blurb are interesting on several points. 1) they have us ranked higher than USC, 2) they believe that had we stayed in the MWC we had a good shot of going undefeated (although they rank both BSU & TCU ahead of us - 6th & 19th respectively), 3) there is no mention of the TDS. Hmmmmm; as Artie Johnson used to say on Laugh-In, "Vairdy Interestink!"

On point #2 - their logic doesn't make a lot of sense (although I like their conclusion) a) if we hadn't joined the PAC-12 there are a couple players that we got that we wouldn't have & it's doubtful we'd have Coach Chow, b) Were they taking into account that had we stayed put our schedule would have had BSU, TCU, PITT, & TDS along with a much improved SDSU and AFA? Sure there would be the usual patsies but those six would be still pose a challenge. Ah, the fun of pre-season speculation!
