So, we continue the charade. You must be "x" level of criminal to get the attention of ICE. And "y" level of criminal to qualify for expedited removal.
Now, Utah will give you a license as long as you aren't excessively illegal.
Utah State DMV Employee: "Hey, we've got a guy here who wants a Utah DPC. Your computer says he's been deported twice before? Do you want to pick him up?"
ICE: "No thanks. Let me know if he commits a violent felony and it makes the newspapers." Click.
What part of "illegal" do you not understand?

What will happen is just what is already happening.

The immigrants that are here will just harbor more illegal immigrants and it will keep expanding and expanding and expanding until our state is completely broke like California.

Driving Privilege Cards are the least of our worries. Contact Herbert and let him know how outraged you are with out legislators. Demand a recall! Ask him to veto this Amnesty Bill that was approved last night. We are in big trouble Utah!
If the Bills that were approved by the Senate last night stand I
am going to sell all my Utah assets and leave Utah for anti-illegal alien state.

I drove to Provo today and let me tell you the illegal aliens are already coming to Utah. I saw more hispanics in my area than I have ever seen. I am not a racist but when you see a vehicle loaded down with several families on the highway heading from the east you can pretty much figure what is going on. They were just waiting for the law to pass and it did. Amnesty with a capital A!

They may have to pass the driving test to obtain their illegal alien driver license but there is no way these illegals, all 42,000 plus, buy and keep insurance. My wife was hit twice by illegals with the driver card who did not have insurance. Guess what happened to them. NOTHING! Roll up the illegal alien welcome mat now.

My insurance rates are already up do to the illegal immigrants that drive in this country without insurance. 62% of those in Utah do NOT use the cards. That tells us that it's not any different than states without the drivers privilege cards. Many use them to buy a car or get a reduced rate on insurance. Once they go into the database, they drop the insurance. If caught, they just pick it back up before they go into court (or pay the fine).

It's telling people here illegally that Utah accepts their legal behavior. Only three states use this dishonest means to encourage illegal immigration. New Mexico has repealed theirs in the house. We need our representatives to let the senate know they don't appreciate them messing with their bills.

One wonders whether or not the people who oppose these driver cards have taken a nanosecond to think about what will happen to THEIR car insurance rates when their insurance companies learn all of a sudden there are 42,000 new uninsured drivers on the streets of Utah.

Do they think their rates will go DOWN?

There isn't an actuary on the planet who will tell you they will.

Be careful what you wish for.

    FBI/INS statistic's for first quarter of 2006
47% of cited/stopped drivers in California have no insurance 53% are covered
63% of cited/stopped drivers in Arizona have no insurance 37% are covered

38% of the people illegally in Utah use the drivers privilege cards to buy insurance. 15% less than those illegally in California with no drivers license, and only 1% more than those illegally in Arizona who have no drivers license.

Drivers privilege card is not needed to but insurance in the state, and only 38% of those here illegally use them. Are we deporting those who don't use them for breaking more laws?

I just can't believe Sen. Curt Bramble, did that, he is saying its ok for illegal people come to Utah because here we are idiots, they can drive, they can work, they can be illegal and be ok.

we have a lot of illegal people coming from other State to Utah because here is the only place where they can drive now....
42.000 drive license permition, 42.000 illegals driving every day here we don't even have place for us anymore because the illegal people take our places, our jobs, etc.
all that just because we are giving drive license, if they couldn't drive for sure they will have to move to other place, but here they can be illegal and be happy!
freaking Sen. Curt Bramble, I just can't believe you are that bad for us American people, to bad you don't crap!

Bramble put forth a law earlier this session to make it against the law to reveal the names on the drivers privilege cards.

Killing all the immigration enforcement bills was Brambles and Wrights ideas in the first place.

The governor said he wanted enforcement, we didn't get it, we got a water downed bill that follows current law enforcement regulations. Email the governor, tell him not to sign these travesties until our Senate gets it right.

    I am angry!

This is the one thing that was clear. I will do everything in my power as a citizen to wake people up.

Excuses, excuses, and more excuses. I could care less what smoke screen the politicians want to use. Every member that voted to keep the "privilege" card will be made known. The citizens of Utah do not want this. We do not need this.

Please make noise to the Senators now! They do nothing but act like Washington politicians, not Utahn's. I AM ANGRY!

    Remember in November!

Any politician who helps provide incentives to attract or keep illegals in Utah should be voted out of office. We cannot afford the costs associated with supporting illegals, nor the crimes that some (but certainly not all) commit beyond merely illegally coming here.

Driver privilege cards must be eliminated. If not this session, then next time with new legislators who will defend our country from the illegal invasion.

I think an investigation on Rep. Bramble is in order. Have anyone ever seen anything so pro-illegal immigration as this man? Something smell fish !! His continuos efforts to derail every effort to deter illegal immigration are very suspicious.

    March 4, 2011 6:50 p.m.

It's beginning to make sense now. Senator Wrights unconstitutional bill uses the drivers privilege cards to give amnesty to guest workers. They know the federal government won't give away their power over immigration, but the law is a back door ploy to save the unpopular drivers privilege cards.

How many illegal aliens with these cards actually have insurance 3 months after they cards are issued?

Sen. Bramble is making clear he is representing big business interests, not the voters who elected him.

    March 4, 2011 6:01 p.m.

Come to Utah, where it's legal to be illegal.

Rewarding illegal behavior is an insult to Americans. Does our allegiance lie with business, or with our country?
