Maynor is going to surprise folks with how fast he picks up the system and makes a difference in games. Needs to gain 10 pounds but his vision, decision-making and passing are exceptional. He is a real competitor.

I love the logo today, but I think it would be cool to have a new logo. I've been working on a new logo's. Sure they probally won't take any of them , but why not try? Plus it would be amazing to see my logo as the logo for the team I love. Ya never know.

  • Jazz Logo Continued.

Actually I have to retract my statement about the old jazz logo. I looked at some old pics and indeed the jazz had a note all by itself on their shorts in the early 90s and late 80s. I stand by my original statement that I love that they are bringing it back.

The best of luck to these two and hope for the best for them during their time with the Jazz.

  • I Love The Old Logo

I hope they bring it back! The word "Jazz" with some mountains in the background is lame.

I love that they are using the note for their logo. I believe it showed up in the playoffs last season. And no its not really going back to the old logo, because the old logo had the entire word "Jazz" in it and was yellow green and purple. The new logo looks great, vintage throwback but modernized.

I just hope this center can rebound. Boozer needs some help in that regard if he sticks around.

Time to let Boozer go. Most of two out of the last three years he has been injured. He's a prima donna whose time is over. Let someone else deal with him. Let's spend a couple of years developing the talent and getting to the conference finals where good things may happen.

  • The Jazz are a "NICE" team
    June 27, 2009 2:57 p.m.

Come on Jazz afficionados! Get real. The NBA is nothing like it was in the 1996/1997 seasons. The star players are opting out and doing the league tour. The Jazz are certainly entertainment, but give me a major break about contemplating any thoughts about a run to a championship (the FINALS). Division/conference banners are not championships. What are all the banners in the rafters about? The Jazz are doing about all that can be done with the location/money available. Get a clue! Injuries ruined a potential run to the conference playoff position vs the Lakers. By the same token....injuries killed the Spurs, come to think of it, as well as Boston. Cleveland/Orlando are not championship calibre teams. However, Orlando with the acquisition of Carter has another shot next year. O'Neal will not elevate Cleveland to the title...they have too many question marks in player personnel. Denver and Portland are teams to be reckoned with in Jazz divison before any thoughts about a Jazz run toward anything. It is tough to operated a mid-level franchise...believe me. Signing Boozer may be a sizable task...they need someone like him to be legitimate.

I like both of these picks, Maynor is a baller and Suton has some good skills to go with his big body.

    Good draft for the Jazz.

Time to clean the shed. Let Boozer go... who needs his drama. Fez & Almond are "D" Leag players..waste no more time and money. Okur has a 3 but really no inside presence that sends chills down any teams spine, keep him but don't over spend. Korver is a contributor so contribute a bit to keep him. Let's get on with it already. DWill needs to call this "His" team and step up and lead the team like Stockton who demanded heart from everyone else. The whole team needs to gut it out BIG right now. Let's hope the "NEW" guys can jump in right away with hard work and toughness. Quit being a soft on again off again also ran!!

If Eric is any thing like Sam-I-Am Cassel - who he has been compared to - the could have a winner for a few years or more..

  • Great Draft Considering
    June 27, 2009 9:02 a.m.

I truly like both of these young men, and also believe that you fans and the managemnet will also. This recession is going to be a blessing in disguise for our team and others. Things flat got out of control and we all needed a reality check. Go for it young guys and you also Jazz management, this might be real interesting and fun these next few years. I also would keep Almond if he will stay for a small yearly long term contract because he has something all teams look for, he's a shooter. Defense is something every player can do if he can play offense, it's just about effort I know I have played this game myself in the past for years. Good things are going to happen with this franchise and will make the Miller family proud of their husband and father for his committment to this city.

  • Both of these picks
    June 27, 2009 8:34 a.m.

seem to be decent people and they handle the press well.

I watched Suton's NCAA film and looked up his stats. He rebounds (that carries to the NBA). He is a very good outside shot right now (as good as Okur). The pace of the tournament games was fast and the competition level very high (USC, Lousiville, UConn and UNC).

Suton has some good inside moves, is tall and plays defense. He maybe can speed up and improve his foot work. He should be as fast as Millsap and other bigs drafted. His vert can be improved.

He should make the team but some of that will depend on the financial negotiations with Millsap, Okur, Boozer and Korver. The lux tax may send him to Europe for a year.

The Jazz can remake the team this year into a champion and also avoid the lux tax. Don't over pay any non championship player. It will strangle the future of the franchise.

Nobody is going to pay Okur, Boozer or Korver more than they are getting now. 6+ Mill is high for Millsap in this and next years market.

Replace the above with better defenders.

  • i know one thing that's for
    June 27, 2009 8:32 a.m.

certain, both of these picks for utah had better be good and worth it or else KOC has got another bad mark on his resume. it also depends on the coach of the jazz as well. hopefully brevin knight will never play for jazz again. all he ever did was looked to pass the ball and that was it. hopefully price gets a better contract this time from the jazz and they can keep him. as for the millsap comment in this article, hopefully the jazz will have another physical player on their hands in addition to millsap. after the past 3-4 yrs they better be correct about who they've just picked in this yrs draft. it's gotten old by now.
