Brilliant move by RSL to sign Olave. Olave is the best player in MLS when it comes to defending the air with his head. The guy seems to clear everything sent in.

I really like Pope, but let's not get carried away with his praise either. I could put together a RSL-Pope blunder tape that would make Olave's mistake in the playoffs look like the Defensive play of the year. Pope had some good games here, but he had some really bad ones also.

I am already anxious for next season to start and it's been what 8 days.

Good move RSL!!! Hopefully Seattle doesn't pick up Andy, Dema, or Ian. Would like to see those guys come back.

Olave is a wonderful player and I'm glad we secured him, but anytime you speak the name of Eddie Pope aloud you better make sure you are on your knees, eyes on the heavens. Eddie was the smoothest defender in the history of MLS. The only centerback I've seen in recent times who could match him for positional sense is John Terry at Chelsea. Eddie is a legend in this country. Olave is an excellent centerback who has a long way to go before becoming Eddie Pope.

Whoa...let's not get carried away thinking that Olave is the second coming of Eddie Pope. He may be bigger, stronger, and faster, but better is a little extreme. He is a great defender, and will get better, but don't forget what happened in the finals. He finished a close second for New York's "man of the match" only narrolwy being beat out by the goal posts. Olave will be a good anchor defender for RSL, but he needs to work on his decision making a little more.

awesome move for Olave. I have to point out that the RSL staff has made some great moves as far as getting quality players together. some of the players that we've aquired have been question marks at first (beltran, johnson) but they have panned out and it seems that the RSL staff can usually be counted on to bring in quality players that work well with the team (the jury is still out on mathis). Good ridance to Besagno, i can't believe that kid was being paid over $100,000! you know who was being paid less than that? williams, movsisyan, rimando, findley, among others. what a waste! Now just bring in a quality striker please! Super excited for next year!

Olave has the skills, there's no doubt about that. The reason I think Borchers got the DoY award is because he plays a lot more organized than does Olave. Olave can make up for a stupid mistake by shear skill where as Borchers has to be more consistent to be effective. The two together make an awesome duo.

Thank you RSL!!! Olave is a world-class defensive player. He makes mistakes at time, but he saves our butts most of the time. I have been waiting for this day to come. RSL is really building a long-term team. The next few years will be awesome.

I am extremely disappointed that Olave didn't get team defender of the year. Obviously he has had some big mistakes. but I think his big time saves with his speed and size back there have been much better than the shortcomings

underatted player we have ever had. He is what Pope was supposed to be. Except his is bigger, faster, stronger, & better. Olave is a huge part of our scoreless streak. This is wonderful news.

Yeah! Christmas comes early. More Olave and no Nikky B and the red haired wunderkid! Finally the legacy of bad player personnel choices by Ellinger has finally come to an end.

Whoa, Besagno is released? Our first-ever draft pick. What a long and tortuous saga of waste--money and time. This deserves a bigger story.

This just made my day. I love Jamison. He is vital to our team. We should be pretty dang good for at least 4 more years now. Great move RSL

Great news. Despite the periodic gaffes, he's a great shut-down center back with tremendous size, strength, and speed. Hopefully our coaches can help with the mental errors he is prone to, but overall we're in good shape with Olave on board.
