Can we leave Kirk Herbstreit alone already? Good heavens. We sound like the old lady taking her hamburger back because they forgot to make it without onions.

There are plenty of venues to watch a Jazz game if you don't have cable - sports grills, sports bars, etc.

If you really want to watch a game for "free", you can.

Who cares about the predictions of talking heads? It seems to me they ought to stick to what they're good at, which is explaining football to us common folk, not divining the future. The surest way to ruin your credibility is to get into the sports prediction business. I don't care what Corso or Al Michaels or anybody says about who is going to win a game -- it's all meaningless until the game is played.

As for Jazz fans who can't afford to pay to watch games on TV, the Jazz don't need you. You're also too cheap to support the sponsors of the Jazz or their broadcasts. Get a better paying job, and the Jazz might care about you.

Uh, did you read the article? Only half the article was Jazz talk, the other half was about football. Some people like to talk about football when it is football season.

Why are we talking about BYU football here? This is Jazz talk. Is it because football fans are as dumb as the players and also to dumb to notice football is slow and boring? BYU might have no chance of being #1 because of the dumb way football and it's rankings are set up. Get a hobby of change the discussion to something more worthwhile like basketball which is the subject!
OK Jazz preseason does not count. So what is the gigantic deal. Still it will be nice to see it. It stupid people who are dumb enough to watch football and reality TV shows who are at fault for less basketball games shown. We might have enough popularity in basketball to broadcast more games if people were smart enough to watch basketball!

I live in Nevada and on either Dish of DirecTV, the NBA games are always blacked out on FSN. That means for me to see all Jazz games, I have to buy the NBA package at about $160.00. Oh well, I'll do it just so I can get the Jazz! Can't wait for the season to begin.

LOL, that's so true, my friend. Lee Corso is worse than even that joke Kirk Herbstreit.

He picked UCLA one day, and then picked BYU another.

  • Corso and Holtz

There's a reason why these guys aren't coaching anymore and have to resort to giving their "expert" opinions on tv.

  • Herbstreit
    Sept. 26, 2008 12:51 p.m.

is a talking head, not a talking brain. He is an entertainer, not an sports analyst. Lee Corso is even worse. How they keep their jobs is a mystery.

I am going to make a total of $10,000 this year. My tuition alone is $14000, not to mention living expenses and you're going to say it's all about priorities? Wake up Dude! I don't go out to eat. I can't afford an extra $5 per month, all I want is to watch my Freakin Jazz without having to pay for it. Is that too much to ask? I don't care how much extra revenue FSN generates! I don't care if you think I'm a whiner. I am mad as can be that I won't be able to watch Deron from my own couch Dunkin on people. I will have to miss the games.
The Jazz sold out on this one, and I won't forget it!
I was planning on purchasing season tickets after grad school is over, but bag that! I will not support a franchise that sells out! I know I am not the only one who feels this way.

It depends on when you were listening to Herbstreit as to who he predicted would win the BYU-UCLA game. During the week prior to the game he predicted UCLA, but then chose BYU during the Gameday telecast. His flip-flopping is just like his rationale for saying you'd have to wait 9 or 10 games before discussing BYU as being a potential BCS bowl team, and at the same time state that Fresno State is the best non-BCS team.

Where in the world are you getting the idea that "some" UCLA fans want their team to leave the PAC-10? That quote you included in your column says no such thing. He was just griping about the Versus coverage and indicated he hopes UCLA never enters into an agreement for their team to be televised on that network again.

There was no mention of an exodus from the league if they did. In fact, there was no mention of any kind of action if they did.

It was simply a statement that one fan didn't like the coverage.

    Sept. 26, 2008 10:12 a.m.

Most of you people who complain about every little thing aren't really Jazz fans anyway! Remember not long ago when many games weren't on ANY station. Not we have EVERY game on one channel or another.
Here's an idea... don't eat out every day and maybe you'll have the extra $5-$10 to upgrade your T.V. package! It's all about priorities.

I love watching the Jazz and I have to pay $5 extra on my Dish Network to get FSN which I gladly pay. If you think about all the games and entertainment you get for the small price it is well worth it. If you don't have cable then be creative. Go to a friends house and socialize. And if you see Deron Williams on the street give him a some money as a tip. We need to support our guys or they will be gone and we will be cheering for the blazers or something.

Since I'm unwilling to pay the added $$$ per month for the satellite package to add Fox Sports, I guess I'll watch something else.

I don't know what this guy's problem with Herbstreit is. Everyone has their own opinions when it comes to forecasting the winner of a ball game. Anyway, if Pierce had actually watched ESPN Gameday, he would know that Herbstreit picked BYU over UCLA. It was Lee Corso was predicted UCLA would win.

Is this the first decision Larry Miller's son made? KJZZ is my only way to watch the Jazz. They are basically saying that I need a monthly payment to be a fan. And they can strongarm me because most people have cable now. I guess I'll listen to the radio. Hotrod does a lot better job than Bollerjack anyway.

I hate to defend Herbie, but..... He actually picked the Cougs to win by a small margin. It was Corso that picked UCLA for the upset.

The other shoe, in markets outside of the KJZZ coverage here in Boise...are excited at the addition of several Jazz games to cable. This will be a great year to FINALLY be able to see more Jazz games here in Idaho!

Horrible move by the Jazz and a kick in the face to loyal fans. My question is, did LHM do this or is this a sign of things to come with his son. Their tickets have outpriced the little guy and now their TV package has.
