    denrex | 4:48 p.m.,

MY main problem with Obama & Biden is their elitist attitude. So I guess we have the same problem.

Which Obama were you listening too? The same guy who described small town Americans as, "Bitter, they cling to guns and religion"? He sounds like an elitist talking DOWN to everyday Americans to me!

That's YOUR GUY who speaks down to everyday Americans? But you love him, and you always will.

If you can say Sarah Palin is an elitist and Obama isn't... You are drowning in the coolaid. There isn't a more common person in this election that Sarah Palin (a Republican), and you can't even see that or at least you won't admit it.

do we really need another puppet(McCain) in office? Obama was once again refreshingly "real" last night on Letterman. he speaks to the "everyday American" in a way that none of the elitist republicans who grew up with a silver spoon in their mouths ever could.

forget about the issues. lets give someone with real personality, charisma, and intelligence a chance to do something right for this country.

    Bring on the civil war!
    Bring on the culture war!
I'll put my money on the Democrats anyday.
The Democrats have always represented the little people.
    Too many of them.
    Bring the neocons on!

"The state trooper used his taser on one of his kids. He should be fired."

Please learn more before you start spouting. He was investigated for this, repremanded, punished, and it should have been over. But, we need to bring it up again and again, just like Palin did. That is why her director would not fire him. He had ALREADY been adjudicated over this matter.

The Republicans are losing their minds over the fact that the Democrats are striking back.

The Republicans name call, belittle, slander, deceive, mislead, lie, and use any other dirty tactic to manipulate this country into giving them, and their corporate friends, exactly what they want.

But now that the Democrats aren't lying down and taking it anymore, and fighting back, the Republicans are taking their ball and running home crying to their mothers.

I am loving one aspect particularly of this election season: the total hypocrisy and deceitful nature of the Republicans is being exposed on a level never before achieved.

    Keep the heat turned up!

    Well maybe one more example...
"He MAY have caused the death of 300 sailors on the Forrestal".

Just a couple of examples proving the Democrats and their attack dogs do the same thing (swift boating). Just in case you thought only the evil repugs are the only ones.

Her point about the bridge was that she wasn't using US taxpayers money. She said "No Thanks!" but actually, she said, I'll take your money but not spend it on a silly bridge. It wasn't the silly bridge that wasn't built that she is bragging up, it is that she said, "No Thanks!" to the money. Not true.

Since about 90% of the comments here are full of unsubstantiated and pointless attacks against Republicans, I'm guessing 90% of you are C-average freshmen attending a community college somewhere.

Why don't you get back to playing hackie-sack and leave the important political issues to the objective thinkers.

Been listening a lot to NBC, CNN, and MSNBC have you? No wonder you know so much. The state trooper used his taser on one of his kids. He should be fired. Where did she lie about the bridge? Congress sent the money to Alaska to be used on whatever they wanted. She took it from the bridge where it was slated to go by the former governor and used it on other needed projects. Show me where she wants creationism taught in schools and I'll show you where Obama wants sex education taught to five year olds. Her daughter getting pregnant makes her a terrible parent just like Adam and Eve were terrilbe parents because Cain killed Abel, Jacob had some bad sons, the point is every family has it ups and downs. Who are you to judge?

"In the week that Palin has been on the ticket, she's received more vetting than Obama has in the 4 years he has been running."

And she's not coming out very well, is she? She tried to get her ex brother-in-law fired from the state troopers; when his boss wouldn't do it, she fired him; there is evidence she has had an extra-marital affair; she lied about her history of support for funding of the bridge to nowhere; she tried to censor the library by getting books removed from it and trying to get the librarian who refused to remove them fired; she wants Creationism taught in public schools; her daughter's pregnancy demonstrates that she is either an incompetent or hypocritical parent; she's ignorant of environmental science; she's ignorant of all science.

"We still don't know much about him and what we do know is scary. Watch his interview on O'Reilly? What a complete conartist and liar."

We know a great deal about Obama! Well, maybe you don't but that's because you have not made the effort to learn a danged thing about him. You have to do some reading and listening and you clearly have not!

McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis admitted that this campaign is not about issues but personalities. The Repub Elite don't care about you they care about their base, the haves and the have mores, they want quiet obediant workers not educated individuals who can ascertain how thoroughly the last 8 years have damaged Americans.

Has the writer hear of Vince Foster. This was the guy conservatives accused the Clinton's of murdering after he committed suicide? Did Rush ever tell you Ken Star cleared the Clinton's?

Ever read anything nice about Reid in this conservative Newspaper? What's the new nasty name for Nancy?

You name call liberal. You blame liberals for Bush's eight years of failure. You want nice?

Do you remember that one president who got elected without drawing any attention to the shortcomings, misdeeds, and flaws of their opponent?

    Me neither.

  • That's just the way it is
    Sept. 11, 2008 11:44 a.m.

That's the way it's been as long as I've been watching politics. And both sides have been guilty of it. When they get envious or angry at the President, they go after a scandal and try to take him down.

I do think it has gotten worse with every Congress since Nixon (that's as far back as I can remember). And this Congress is ABSOLUTLY the worst I've experienced in my lifetime. And it's not only me. Their appoval rating is 9% and dropping fast. That's too low to just be a partisan disaproval. Almost all Americans are very unhappy with Congress today.

Problem is, I don't see anything that can make it getting better anytime soon. McCain promises he will (he can't). Obama promises he will (he can't).

If Republicans win the the election the Democrat tricks in Congress will only get worse (exponentially). If the Democrats win the election, Republicans will be all over payback for the "investigation-a-day" joke of a circus the Democrats have been running for the past few years and continue the current status-quo of doing everything they can to take the President down, or at least making him look badEvil.

doesn't want to debate mccain because he doesn't want to embarrass him. McCain is too elderly to be able to answer questions quickly the way Obama can. He's actually trying to be humane and compassionate to his elderly opponent.

  • Why?
    Sept. 11, 2008 11:06 a.m.

Can somebody tell me why Obama won't debate McCain? Oh, I forgot, he can't think and talk at the same time. Don't even think of giving some gum to chew, that would be disastrous...

To Charles..Making the statement that the "Dems on this page speak no truth and add nothing to the debate give us a complete portrait of you and your "Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly" type thinking! You are possibly correct in saying Palin has been vetted this past couple of weeks. Problem is that she was not vetted properly by the one individual who should have vetter her. Had he done so we wouldn't even know who she is! If you think Carville and Begala are so bad, then I can only assume that you think Rove and Richards are next to diety. Like the previous poster" WOULDN'T IT BE NICE" I too am Rep. but will be voting Dem for the first time since JFK. Obama on Letterman last eve. gave out more info. on the issues than the McCain camp has issued in the whole Campaign. If the Dems look like an episode of Sienfeld, the Repubs can only be likened to a side show at the Carnnie with McCain as the Organ grinder as he tows Palin around from town to town playing the same old tune with the locals all giddy with her time worn act.

Wake up America!!! If you really believe the Dems are the only ones who "dig up dirt" and focus only on slandering their opponents, you're completely lost to reality. Period.

This is why American politics is in the doldrums and our government and its policies are spiraling out of control. It's become quite pathetic.

  • GWB
    Sept. 11, 2008 8:59 a.m.

Interesting: "Wouldn't it be nice if the Democrats would present a positive plan of what they would do if they get elected instead of digging up dirt (or manufacturing it) to damage the character of their opponents?"

It must be nice to live in an alternate reality where facts don't matter.

Let's go over what we have heard about Obama from Republicans:

    Obama is a muslim.

    Obama's minister, remember him???

Obama is a socialist, the words "Obama and Acorn, Google it" were posted here yesterday.

Obama is friends with a terrorist.

Obama got a deal from a corrupt real estate guy.

We have heard all these and had them debunked.

Now that Palin is in the spotlight, the Republicans cry foul.

The question I had last week was: Who is Sarah Palin and what are her qualifications to be President (the measure as to whether she is qualified to be VP). It is not the Democrats digging up dirt, it is the press doing their job.

If it is digging up dirt to find out who she is, I sure hope the press continues because we only have 8 weeks left to find out her qualifications.

  • Charles
    Sept. 11, 2008 8:32 a.m.

The Democrats backers on these pages contribute no truth and nothing to the debate. Obama has been talking about the issues? Did you listen to his speech? Then go listen to McCain and the details of his speech and the issues. Night and day.

In the week that Palin has been on the ticket, she's received more vetting than Obama has in the 4 years he has been running. We still don't know much about him and what we do know is scary. Watch his interview on O'Reilly? What a complete conartist and liar.

The Clintons perfected the art of "destruction of personal politics" with Carville and Begala and the "War Room". The Dems have just continued on in that vein.

The Dems are like an episode of Seinfeld, much ado about NOTHING. Just words...Change, hope. No details except more taxes...

There isn't one Dem supporter on here who has made any sense and has no true foundation about their own party....pathetic.

    Sept. 11, 2008 7:18 a.m.

Again, substitute repub for dem in this letter and it is just as true.

It amazes me how blind people are. The dems think they are God's gift to the world and that repubs are satan, and vice versa.

I say they are all evil. None of them have concrete plans for anything and almost every election is won on slander and libel.

Remember "I knew Jack Kennedy...you senator are no Jack Kennedy" or "I will not exploit the youth or inexperience of my opponent"...how is that a plan? (by the way, in case you are under a rock, like most dems and repubs, the first was a dem, the 2nd a repub.)

Even worse, today they are not so polite or polished in their mud-slinging. Today it is quantity over quality. I yearn for the days when at least some modicum of intelligence was exibited in the slander, instead of today's school-yard spats that amount to no more than "oh yeah, well so is your mother".

Oust the 2-party system and take our country back.

Oh wait, if THEY talk about them selves then the Republicans look even better, still... Oh, what is a Democrat to do these days?

    Sept. 11, 2008 6:50 a.m.

If the GOP held themselves to the same standards that they pretend to hold? Please? I'm a GOP, but will not be voting for the McCain ticket. Dirt? Both sides sling it. sometimes the GOP slings more. Who has not heard about Obama being a 'muslim'? GOP has a lot of double standards. McCain cheats on frist wife with second wife. Palin has affair with husbands business partner, kids are only for photo ops. We've got Craig getting caught in a public restroom... the list goes on and on and on. And yet... We GOP feel hurt when it comes back at us? I think we actually deserve exactly what were now getting - in spades. We're not perfect, but we tell everyone that we are, and like to pretend that this party is the party of 'God'.

I just want Obama to win so we GOP can start reassessing our ways and means of getting things done. 4 years of wandering will do a party good. It's not punishment, it's a realignment.

Methinks the Republicans just can't stand the fact that at no other point in history has their moral hypocrisy shone through more than it has during this campaign.
