It is so sad how pessimistic all of you people are. I understand the controversy surrounding the games, but I am also able to see the beauty of the games. Unlike other professional sports, the olympic competition brings out the best in athletes. Every athelete is so supportive of each other regardless of country! The Chinese were wonderful hosts! That was by far the best opening ceremonies I have ever seen! There is nothing wrong with allowing yourself to just relax and ENJOY life! Stop stamping negativity upon EVERYTHING!

If you spend enough money you can dress a pig up like a prince.

I can only assume ChiCom's is a reference to "Communist China". Chi=China, Com=Communist.

I don't know what they have to do with any Journalist Fraternity.

  • China?

I didn't realize the Deseret News and China were the same organization. That is the only way a letter thanking China written to the DN makes any sense.

Some of you good folks are truly hardcore. The sarcasm, trust me, does not show your better sides.

And thank you China, for that delightful crispy duck dish. You know--the one that goes on the little crepes with the hoisin sauce. Man alive, that stuff is fantastic. And also, thank you China for fireworks. If I had some crispy duck and fireworks I'd be a happy camper right now.

    Who are the ChiComs?
Are they the members of the Journalism Fraternity?

That $44 Billion they spent on the games could have and should have been spent elsewhere. What a waste when so many people go hungry each day.

jr says "Leave politics out of the sports arena folks" and two sentences later he launches into a political diatribe about American secret torture prisons, forced sterilization of native Americans, etc.

Classic. jr, do you want to be the pot or the kettle?

Back to China: Thank you China for only showing pretty girls singing during the opening ceremony, for not allowing protests (and jailing those who tried to), for cheating with your underaged gymnasts, bribing judges in gymnastics and diving (hooray for landing on your knees!), and faking your fireworks.....yes, what a grand Olympics it was!

What, China had some kind of Games recently?

I really need to turn on the TV more often.

Thank you China for a fine display of technology and hosting. Leave politics out of the sports arena folks. Give credit where credit is due and if you don't think this country is guilty of forced abortions just know that this government was sterilizing American Indian women up until the 70's. This country is guilty of secret torture prisons throughout the world and all the other covort operations. Judge not that it falls in your lap

Don't forget journalistic suppression and underage gymnasts (cheating) - but the fireworks were incredible!

Thank you ChiComs for forced abortion, no freedom of
expression or of religion, denial of Agency, shoddy
merchandise made by slave laborers, etc., ad nauseam.
Yep, you are example for the world to follow.
