:bleedkentuckyblue why bould we think of the 80's (and no I am not

year 2008) dude join us in this day and age. oh and as for
anotherday another zobbie loved you name, but next time back up smack with
all cougars listen up. I used to have the smallest bit of respect for you
people. used to. I see you guys running around long after the season is over and
you people are still using stuff from the 80's to smack talk. thats weak. And I
hate to say it but utes seriosly dont sink to their level you can smack talk
them in person just make sure you take a stopwatch. it takes them a while to
make up a come back. believe me. i have experience.
It's interesting to note the fact that the school down south, and the Church by
whom it's owned, are lead by UTES! President Cecil B. Samuelsen and President
Thomas S. Monson (and while we're at it, let's not forget the late and well
respected President Gordon B. Hinckley...etc.) How many years of dominance do
these men account for in "restoring order?" Finally, the oldest University west
of the Mississppi isn't in Provo...Remember where you came from Cougar
faithful...Your most respected leaders wear RED!
i am going to be perfectly honest I am not a ute or a cougar but it is so funny
to read your smack talk you all sound like 4 year olds hahahahahahahaha!!!!!
another zoobie: quick! hide! your Yewt education is showing again?
10-2 is the closest BYU has gotten? what about undefeated 1984? 14-1 in '96?
Think about the '80s? Your 2004 glory year is a flash in the pan, and now your
jerseys are as ugly as your football history! you're flaunting Steve
Smith, and that's great, but he's never won a Super Bowl: Steve Young and Jim
McMahon have. BYU has more players in the NFL out of any team in the west EXCEPT
USC. Good luck beating USU and Weber. Wyoming is going to be a
shellacking, and you'll get hammered by TCU and UNLV... again. Utah football...
where class never happens!
ok this is to "GSM" and to everyone who is stupid enough to listen to him. We
haven't had that one year or that one player (alex) just think of the year
before the feista bowl. I belive we were 10-2. Hey thats as close as BYU as ever
gotten to going undefeated. Oh and we have also had STEVE SMITH. He went pro
playing for Carolina i think. So take your words and shuv em! GO UTES! the
cougars are for lames and dipwads
here let us explain this one more time. and this time we will use small words so
that you will be able to understand. The University of Utah is an amazing school
with fantastic athletes attending it. Unlike BYU who is more about trying to
talk the talk. Now to end tell bronco that he needs a bigger shirt to fit his

November 11 2008 at rice eccles stadium as the utes run out of the tunnel and
all over the kewgs.
I agree with "ute" you people need to chill. And Anonymous(2 or 3 up)have you

Under Armour? any way I dont think the new dud will help or hinder our guys but
its still nice. Oh yah and to all you BYU freaks go back to your rooms in your
parents basements and go see if you can take the first step to becoming a grown
up by throwing out your night light I promise the cougars wont eat you in the
dark but think of it this way if you get scared you can go run up so mommy.
ok to all you pathetic byu zoobies who have nothing better to do than TRY and
smack talk, get a life. I came on to read an article and see what others
thought. not to have to filter through a bunch of losers comments who are trying
to make a conection between the utes having new uniforms and how that will
affect their play. It wont ok so shut up crawl back into you cave and STAY
THERE!! as to the uniforms i think it will be nice to have something new for our

I hear they put a new extra grass stain repellant on the Defensive teams backs

BronKo - Hahahahahahahahahahaha
What is so bad for either team is that you play in the Mountain West Conference.
By far one of the weakest conferences in college football. When the president
of DirecTV says "he would rather show reruns of "Everybody Loves Raymond before
he would pick up the Mountain because of viewership statistics" is something you
don't want to hear. If either team played in the Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, ACC,
or SEC you wouldn't be bowl eligible.
"...can anybody tell me the significance of spelling Bronco 'BronKo'"?Bronco, spelled "BronKo", is an allegorical play on phonetics. The "Ko" is
representative of a pugilistic term for "Knock Out". It started popping up on
both the Salt Lake Tribune and the Deseret News comment threads shortly after,
and likely retaliatory to, "K-Whitt", which was likely coined by some TDS fan
who fancies himself witty.Perhaps the Ute fan who initiated "BronKo"
should have attempted something a little less cerebral, like maybe "Mr.
Dumbhead", or "Coach Poopy-Pants", to keep the insults from flying over the
heads of those ridiculous and unenlightened fans for the TDS.GO
I agree it was selective. However, I will quote you because it was senseless,
and I know it's out of context, but "11-2 is not as good as 10-2"-- How? And
you are picking different years, how can you say an 11-2 year is not as good as
a 10-2 year in different years??? And you pick "one" common
opponent, UCLA. BYU played with PAC-10 refs at the Rose Bowl, Utah played at
home, and neglect to mention the last team to beat UCLA that year on a nuetral
field...Look at the past two years head to head--and not cherry pick
one opponent for 2 of the 3 games against-UCLA that year, but the league for two
straight years. It the same old 7 degrees of circular reasoning and
logic used by Ute fans. And please try to answer the
questions...Who has bragging rights, and who needs to bring game in
November? Why play for "bragging rights" if you lose and blow it off? Why even
play the game?Serious, you choose the games after the season, and
you choose the season you want to compare after they're over.Circular reasoning and logic used by Ute fans. Sad.
New Uniforms.Nuff said.
It was 11-2 and 11-2 compared to 10-2 AND 12-0. One is better than the other, I
will let you figure it out. Common opponent: UCLA 27 BYU 17---------------- UCLA 16 BYU 17---------------- UCLA 6 UTAH 44BronKo and the kewgs will fall flat on their faces this year. "Quest for
Perfection"???? It's going to be a short quest considering they are going to
lose to Washington and UCLA in September.
Man, all of the stats out there.Easy, look at head to head:2006 = BYU - W Utah - L2007 = BYU - W Utah - LCommon
opponents both years:Mountain West Conference2006 = BYU
- Conference Champs2007 = BYU - Conference ChampsIs it really
that hard to figure out in head-to head comparisons (not the 7 degrees of
circular reasoning and logic used by Ute fans) who has bragging rights, and who
needs to bring game in November? Why play for "bragging rights"? Why even play
the game?Oh, and can anybody tell me the significance of spelling
Bronco "BronKo"? And how is 11-2 not as good as 10-2?I understand
why Kyle went to coach at Utah. He was taking over "Urbans Team", and look how
well he's done. Kyld did not want to "rebuild". Bronco did a fine
job rebuilding, and BYU is "blessed" Kyle made the choice he did. Otherwise I
think BYU would be 0-3 against Utah over the past three years.
Yes, the Utah president and head football coach are BYU grads, but they came to
the U to begin the repentance process BY THEIR OWN CHOICE! Not
quite the same circumstance as your current president, who is a Utah Man, and
only went there because he was ASSIGNED by Pres. Hinckley (oh, another standout
Utah alum, by the way...)The University of Utah, aka School of the
"Fluke" or the beginning of a "Trend".
Probably got it from the same place that BronKo did: URBAN MEYER and the
UNIVERSITY OF UTAH! That's right, Urban changed the Utes Helmets and what was
the first thing BronKo did?As for one year: I guess these past two
years were just so-so for byU? 11-2 and 11-2 is not as good as 10-2 and 12-0.
Plus, Utah has more bowl appearances and more bowl VICTORIES over the last 15
years than byU does. Looks like the Utes are right there with byU in the
It is good to see Robert Johnson with his helmet back...after Harvy Unga knocked
it off while going into touchdown last year. Man what a great

up with something like that. You may wonder why he did not give a return to
tradition speech. Well that is because Utah does not have a tradition, they have
a year. 1 year. 1 year. 1 year. But hey that sea of red did look good in the
Fiesta Bowl, that 1 year, 1 year, 1 year, 1 year. PS Alex and Urban

What yooterville fan was complaining that there were no stories to be written

Coaching Staff's favorite cookie recipes.
Johnson did not prognosticate. He did not offer a forecast or prediction. He
stated a goal, to go undefeated. It appears to be the same one BYU has called
its quest for perfection.(Note to journalists. Please be aware of
the meaning of words before using them.)I support both teams goals
until their final regular season game. I hope they enter that game with perfect
records. I hope BYU wins that game, and wins a BCS bowl.I support
ending the BCS hegemony. Utah did its part. Now it's time for BYU to do the

Wittingham is following the same pattern of Crowton. There teams are terrible
and they cant coach but they are hip and up to date on their uniforms.
Utah fans, need to begin preps for the trip to the BIG HOUSE, and Michigan, just

And last year, when BYU won conference, yoots said it was the out of conference
games that were important, not a conference championship, but this year it is

is the BYU game, and for the past two years, they have come up lacking.UNLV, AFA, BYU, tied for third in the MWC.One guy (Phil Steele)
thinks the Utes will do well, in all the other preseason polls, they don't even
have Utah on the Radar.Let's just hope BJ doesn't get injured again.
Max Hall can play through it, but BJ is like a little fragile glass doll.It will be fun watching BJ light up BYU's weak secondary, at least for
the few possessions they get, because BYU will own the ball for most the
games.Just protect the sidelines on 4th and 18, and put a defender
in the North Endzone this time. BYU doesn't need another "Fluke" win because
Utah can't provide coverage.Ohhhhh, the deafening Sound of Silence
(yooterville fans know what I'm talking about. North Endzone, Harline???).Quiet Yoots are fun.
Enough with getting upset at one another for posting on the other team's
articles, especially now when there is generally only one or the other on a
particular day.Just a reminder, pre-'60s football didn't have the
forward pass, so it wasn't at all like the football we know today. It was lining
up on the line of scrimmage and all you can do is run the ball. It was more like
an American style of rugby than what football is today. By the time
the end of August comes all of the same ol' same ol' trash talk is going to get
old, so can we please go easy on the trash talk at least until the teams get out
practicing in the fall.
It was ROBERT Johnson (Jr. CB from Los Angeles) who stated the goal of going
undefeated, not BRIAN Johnson (Sr. QB from Baytown, TX). The DesNews reported
it wrong. It's not unheard of for the Deseret News to not employ
fact-checkers; neither is it unheard of for TDS fans to jump all over inaccurate
information, then blow it out of proportion. It's one thing for a team to say
their GOAL is to go undefeated (Utah). It is another issue for a team to say
[THEY] SHOULD GO undefeated (TDS).It's also extremely common
for TDS faithful to refer to Utes as "yewtards" while simultaneously making a
stupid uninformed comment. Glad I'm not a coug.GO UTES!!!
BYU's classic look. But I don't mind the Yewts' new jerseys. Anyone seen
UNLV's new uniforms? Now that's an awful uniform. (And I'm a UNLV grad.)
it was Robert Johnson that made that comment, not Brian Johnson like so many
ignorant, uptight byu fans think, BJ wouldnt say something stupid like that,
although he's gonna light up byUs weak secondary come november
HA! I don't see any Cougar fans getting bent out of shape at B.J.'s bold
statement that they should go undefeated unlike the yewtard faithful did when
Curtis said the same thing a couple years ago. We all know why.

SIZE!!! You're only more proof that zoobies are utterly ignorant of statistics.
Someone is going to be seriously injured when they get "grilled" by those thigh
people dont need to judge a school based on the uniforms, seriously, you have
enough time to say 'hey lets bash on Utah's new uni's just because we think that
they look bad, to some people they might. i personally like them better than
our old uni's.........both byU and Utah fans are idiots for bashing on each
other's schools when in fact they can do NOTHING ABOUT IT (myself
inlcuded).....that being said, November 22 is going to be one Heck of a Football
game, regardless of who wins, what uniforms they are wearing, and how bad or
good each team plays. I just hope they U can come away with a win cause we know
that byU is tough.GO UTES!!!!
Gotta love the all white uniforms! Better than those awful BYU uniforms during
the Crowton era and the Aggie Blue of today's TDS. BYU fans love
stats but the overall series record speaks for itself. That is the only stat
that matters. Not the ones that BYU fans quote like "Do you know BYU holds an
edge overall against Utah in games that were played during a leap year and also
occurred during a lunar eclipse" or "BYU holds an overall series record against
Utah when cougar concession stands sellout of root beer by the end of the first
half".It's going to be a long disappointing season for BYU.
I like the look, bet the Red needs to look darker... It is dangerously close to
"pink-red" in some of those pictures. Why the lightening of the Red?
you are a big fat nerd who has to much time on his hands.
Hey "Silly Kewgar fans", please refresh my memory - what is Utah's record
against BYU the last two years in both football and basketball?I
know, you ALMOST beat us in football, so there has to be a "moral victory" there
somewhere. Or would you rather talk about Utah's record against BYU
from 1900 - 1960. That has got to make you feel pretty good. Win a
time or two and maybe you have something to yap about. In the
meantime, focus on women's basketball or gymnastics at the U. I understand they
are pretty good.
Andy Reid, yes, that's right. Another former BYU player who doesn't want to
coach at BYU!!
Repeatedly pointing out errors by Ute fans in grammar, spelling, and math while
ignoring the FACT that there are just as many, if not more, errors made by the
byU faithful. Oh well, after byU "looses"(as byU fans think it is
spelled) to Washington, UCLA, New Mexico, TCU, and Utah, all of the kewgar fans
will be able to look forward to basketball season . . . . . oops, my bad. byU
isn't going to be very good on the hardwood either. November 22:
Utah 34 byU 23 and the Utes will sweep the basketball series this year.
Uh...I believe the Eagles Head Coach is Andy Reid, correct? And which
University did he attend? Oh yeah, BYU. Just checking. Correct me if I'm
Johnson looks like a twig in that picture!! How do the Utes expect to compete
with the Cougars with players that are skin and bone?!
Are we actually fighting over statistics here? Ok, here are some statistics
for you:1) BYU has gone undefeated in conference play for 2 years in a
row, the only MWC team to do that in the history of the MWC (that includes
Utah!)2) Max Hall had the highest passer rating last year in the MWC and
among all sophomore quarterbacks in the nation! (And higher than Brian Johnson
from Utah)3) Harvey Unga had more rushing yards last season that Mack from
Utah (And Mack looks ugly in the new uniform! Definitely a dud!)4) BYU
has never lost to Utah in Salt Lake City under head coach Bronco Mendenhall.
(We are 1 for 1!)Any arguments with those statistics? PS: Yes, BYU offers the class Stat 221, and I passed it!
I know a few GAs children, and you're partially right about admission. I can't
remember if it is anyone who works for the Church or just anyone who works for
BYU, but they do get reduced admission. THis is much like those who work for the
U., get their kids 50% off U. tuition.I'm sure a great many GAs
children go to the Y., but I met president samuelson's daughter-in-law a year or
two ago in Arizona, and she told me the reason why her husband chose not to go
to BYU had nothing to do with the quality of education, but got sick and tired
of others telling him he was only there because of who his parents were, so he
went to Arizona State so he could say he earned his education.... while I hate the utes and these unis are worse than they were, the all-red is
a great idea... the all-white, not so much
..And Utah football is known in North Carolina for Steve Smith. What's your
point? I think the most recent impression Philly fans have of BYU is Reno
"Fumble Fingers" Mahe.BYU is recognized because of the LDS church,
and not because of athletics. Ask almost anyone to say one thing about BYU and
they will say "Mormon" and not "football" or "basketball" That's as it should
be. Anyone who argues otherwise has their priorities mixed up. Yet another
reason BYU needs to drop athletics. More people know about BYU athletics
because of the LDS church and not the other way around. I actually have seen
more damage to character and missionary efforts because of athletics (see

@Mark 5:51 Who cares about the "children of the prophets"? That is a
completely irrelevant question! Last I checked the "children of the prophets"
weren't any different than any other church member. Anyway, children of GAs

some sort of board for BYU. It's a good education, why not go there? By the

or are you just making a self-serving assumption? There have been
apostles and prophets who have graduated from all three of Utah's major
universities (Utah, Utah State, BYU) and this trend will undoubtedly continue.

Utes can win a road opener)... also Darell Mack>>>>Harvey Unga...GO UTES!!!

Utes simply overlooked them.#3 Obviously a fan from the T.D.S.
wanted to lash back because someone brought up the fact that they switched to
the colors of Utah State's uniforms because there old sky blue color was too
Here's the important part of the article:"They're tighter and
lighter," said Johnson, "so I can run faster."Let's hope that's
true. Here's the best case scenario for November 22: BYU and Utah
undefeated, and Michigan with a single loss (to UofU) going into undefeated Ohio
State. Rivalry Week indeed. ESPN GameDay producers pull their hair out, and
the Dish Network satellites spontaneously explode out of pure envy.1972-1984-1996-2008
@Choose the Right. You wrote "President Hinckley and President Monson graduated
from Utah, what does that say about your perfect little world?"Actually, Pres. Monson graduated from both schools, getting his advanced
degree from BYU. And a more relevant question for today is "Where did the
children of the prophets go to school?"
BYU did change their shade of blue, but at least they don't still claim to have
the old shade. The Utes have not worn crimson for like 20 years. The shade of
red they have now is not even close to crimson. And yet, the genius Utah fans
keep touting their "crimson" and bashing on BYU's colors. Educate yourselves.By the way, you're all right about the black. They'd look great, and it
would complete Utah's hijacking of the colors of their big brothers at Southern
Utah University. Bring out the black!

This is Kyle Whittingham. I'd like to announce that we will no longer allow
stoners inside the stadium to watch our football games. We don't want the new
unis to stink like our fans. I realize this might cut our attendance down to
below 100, but we feel that protecting our exciting investment in Under Armour
uniforms is more important than having fans at our games. Besides, it's not like
we get many fans out anyway.Sincerely,Coach Whittingham

does not a trend make. Take a class in statistics for crying out loud. Do they

Re: Fact | 2:18Here are some more facts for ya1.NOBODY
from xenophobic Utah County knows ANYTHING about what people outside of
Provostan thinkeven if about BYU.2.Just because you know a bunch of
backwater bumpkins from Nebraska, who dont know much about the Univ. of Utah,
doesnt mean you now have your finger on the pulse of the college football scene
or what people nationwide think. Dont folks from your (red)neck of the woods
still believe Obama is a Muslim, and Huckabee was Gods choice for President?
Why dont you ask them how legitimate they think your 84 NC trophy was?3.BYU is known as that Mormon school, not that NCAA football juggernaut. Utah
is KNOWN for its basketball program, and, due to their 04 season, as the
ORIGINAL BCS buster. Boise St. and Hawaii are ALSO KNOWN as BCS busters. BYU
is not known for busting the BCS (nor are they known for breaking down any doors
to enable the other 3 to do so).4.Cougar fans are KNOWN to be
ridiculous whenever they talk about college football. GO
This comming from a Boise State Fan. I like the new Uniforms. They look
tight. Way to go. By the way You guys were great to me and my family when
we played there last time. Thanks for the hospitality. Kick cougar tail...
Am I really reading what I think I'm reading? You byU fans are really so
pathetic that you have to come and diss on utah's new jerseys? Are you really
that bitter. Are you really that upset that the last 2 years the byU Utah game
has really not been "dominated" as all you zoobies think? I know why you do
it..... It's because you all are scared of losing to the U!
New uniforms same obnoxious fans dreaming of college supremacy against big
brother. Also maybe now that Utah fans and Kyle are so very excited about the
new uni's they can get more than 30,000 fans to the game other than when they
are playing the TDS! I cant wait to hear what the excuses will be this year
after the cougars make it three strait with another last second miracle win.
I am a Y fan and I don't know what all this talk about restoring order is about.
The only thing that matters is the here and now. I hope BYU and Utah are
undefeated when they meet. That will make for a great game."The
harder you work for something the harder it is to surrender." Coach Vince
Lombardi. One team is just as good as the other in this rivalry. It
will be a great game no matter what.
I swear that Utah is the mecca of immaturity when it comes to rivalry posts. To the men and women with way too much time on your hands (from both
sides), stop copying and pasting statistics from Wikipedia. Please, keep it to
yourselves. Your statistics are as about as credible as me trying to convince
you all that I'm Bronco Mendenhall.
I find it funny that many of the BYU posters love to say that U fans post on
their articles, proving that U fans are obsessed with BYU. You are posting on
an article about Ute UNIFORMS! That is pathetic. Who is obsessed?
Fine, comparing the absolutely best case scenario for Utah vs BYU in the last
half century (it's obvious why you picked exactly 15 years, instead of 10 or 20
years):1993-2007BYU is 120-67-0 (64%) overall, 6-9 vs
Utah, 7 conference championships, 9 bowls, 5 top 25 finishes.Utah is
117-61-0 (66%) overall, 9-6 vs BYU, 4 conference championships, 10 bowls, 3 top
25 finishes.A slight advantage for Utah head-to-head vs much better
in championships and top 25 finishes for BYU.
President Monson has season tickets to BYU? Why would he have season
tickets...he owns the stadium doesn't he? LOL
I guess only the most righteous could attend BYU in the early days then? And if
Monson holds BYU season tickets I'd better get in line? Pony Mendenhall went to
Oregon State and Rose Pedals went to Houston. Why does it matter that Whitt or
Young went to BYU? They chose to be a part of the University of Utah. The
point that was being made earlier was that it really doesn't matter what school
somebody went to, it is who they are affiliated with now. Obviously Hinckley,
Monson, Pony, and Rose are assosiated with BYU and Whitt and Young are with
Utah. Why not bring up LDS leaders? That's the problem with BYU fans:
they want to separate the church and the sports when it is convenient for them,
yet at the same time use it for a "missionary tool". Either shape up reconcile
your fanhood with your religion, or choose one or the other.Oops...
I think I just heard a self-righteous bubble pop.
Did they change the helmet color again... Thats the one thing that got better
for them the last few years...?????Tyler
They will show the footprints much better as the Utes become the conference
doormat this season!
Well, I hope it's going to help you guys, but we are still going to beat the
heck out of you......LOL!!
"to provide the numbers that you want"you're too funny!Selective history is selecting the last 15 years, but not the last 3.
Selecting recent head-to-head matchups, but ignoring the recent overall and
conference records. Looking at recent individual games only.Counting
recent success, but discounting recent failure.Except for three
calamitous Crowton years and two marvelous Meyer years, the balance of power has
been trending in BYU's favor since the inception of the WAC in 1962.How many top 25 finishes has Utah had, EVER?How many conference
championships (in the last half century)? How many bowl appearances? How many national awards?Princeton, Yale and Harvard ALL have won
more national championships in college football than Notre Dame or USC. Which
schools have the best football programs TODAY?Comparing overall
records is interesting, but is completely useless in comparing the recent trends
of the BYU and Utah football programs.
Hey maybe....those bib unis the cougs used to dawn have to go down as the worse
in college history. Also, USU called and they want their colors back.
I would like to thank you for confirming, in your final paragraph, something I
have claimed all along. BYU fans DON'T TRAVEL AS WELL AS THEY
CLAIM.You said that a lot of the BYU fans were wearing Oklahoma
State gear. That just proves that the large number of BYU fans at road games
are just the LDS members living near by that came to see the church school.
THEY ARE NOT REALLY BYU FANS, and THEY DEFINITELY DIDN'T TRAVEL FROM PROVO
UTAH.As for the Utes new uniforms, I think they look great! They
will look even better when the team is celebrating the MWC championship in
The yewts stole their fight song from Walt Disney. It sounds a lot like the
Mickey Mouse March.
I would like to know the percentage of byu fans that are fashion design
majors...that's really great - I'm sure your boyfriends are quite pleased. I however don't care if our helmets match or not - I just like to watch
football.Maybe all of you should watch ice skating - they usually
have fun matching costumes that I'm sure you will all enjoy.
To the person who posted "FACT". Crawl out of your hole. And think again. There
are a ton of well known UTES in Football. Your skewed view is ridiculous. Besides what are you doing posting on a Utes related article on a Utah
paper? Doesn't that also defy your stance?
Leading for most of the games? Last year you didn't lead until 1:34 to go in the
whole game! In 2006 you didn't take the lead until almost half way through the
3rd. You were lucky to be close in either of those games!
Since 1993, BYU has had SIX(6) seasons where they finished .500 or worse. Utah
has only had TWO(2) during that same time. Utah has more bowl appearances
during that time, more bowl VICTORIES during that time, and more head to head
wins during that time. Aside from a couple of conference championships, Utah
has been every bit as good as BYU(if not better) over the last 15 seasons. If you are having to go all the way back to the '70s and '80s to prove
that your program is better, are they really better? Most likely not.
haha. Led for MOST of the game(s)? What games were you watching?
Maybe these will get Utah off SI's top 10 worst college football uniform list.
No wonder the players are excited.
they would look sick in black - bring them out against the team from down south
They really do look nice. Everybody will say, "at least they went down in
If Johnson stays healthy Utah might be the best team in the MWC this year. BYU
will be good on offense but defense is a question mark. BYU needs to be bigger
on the D-line this year and more physical. If Utah beats Michigan in the opener
look for a great season ahead. IF BYU can get both Washington and UCLA expect
BYU to go undefeated the rest of the way.
I have been ashamed for several years now as I have watched man and boy after
man and boy files into Cougar Stadium and then LES wearing every color in the
rainbow - except blue. Some do wear it. I do not understand the
mental condition you must be suffering from when you wake up in the morning to
attend a BYU football game (assuming you are a BYU fan) and you put a pink or
orange shirt.I just do not get it and it needs to stop.I
believe it was Poppinga who coined the term "the stands look like a pack of
Skittles" in 2006.
zoobs proving once again to be obsessed with anything to do with THE University
Utah has nice looking uniforms - period. BYU also looks classy with their
traditional design restored. Who is the better team in 08? Won't know the answer
to that till about end of September so no use speculating.
"Our goal is to go undefeated. We want to be in a Jan. 1 bowl game."FINALLY, someone from Utah who is willing to set a goal that includes more
than beating BYU and winning a bowl game reserved for an also-ran in the MWC.
Yep, I'm pretty sure that almost no one attended BYU in the 1920s and 30s. It
was an Academy for the first 35 years of its existence, then a tiny University
(think Westminster) until after WWII. It wasn't even accredited outside of the
West until 1946, so very, VERY few people from that generation attended BYU.
Total enrollment in 1945 was barely 1,000 students. Since someone
was dumb enough to bring up the leaders of the LDS Church, however, it's
interesting to note that Pres. Monson is a BYU MBA, and he also holds season
tickets to BYU Basketball (not Ute Bball, sorry). Oops... I think
I just heard a self-righteous bubble pop.
I am a big times Cougar fan and can testify that BYU fans are possibly the worst
fans in the country at wearing their teams colors - last year we sadly had to
have commercials that featured BYU players and coaches requesting BYU fans to
please wear the team colors to the games. NO OTHER SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY HAS TO
DO THAT. Not even lowely Utah State. It was better last year but
there were way too many dudes cheering for BYU in pink and green polo shirts.
The new uni's look good. Under Armor's good quality. Also, to all the
childish little posters from BYU, grow up. "FrUtes?" What are you in grade
school? Do you realize how embarrassing it must be for the BYU program to have
you representing their fans? BYU has a good program... But it's only
been that way since Lavell; then wasn't again; and now for the last 2 years it
is again. If you want to live off past glory, for like 70 years Utah
was the dominant of the 2 programs, with dozens of conference championships.
And again it wasn't that long ago that you were in your Crowten
years. Don't get too proud of yourselves. Besides you only barely squeaked out a
win against us the last 2 years, after we led you for most of the game(s). Save your Trash talk for November. Because if you haven't figured it out
yet. Its better for both schools to be respected programs. Of course that may
not have sunk in with some of you, especially the BYU poster making fun of Coach
Whit's speach (a BYU grad).
Sorry Utah did not have anyone approaching Hall Collie, or Unga on the whole
team last year. Don't flatter yourself.
I am a HUGE BYU fan (been to every BYU home game and many of the away games
since 1987) but the sad and shaming fact remains:If I see one more BYU fan
(MAN FAN) show up to a game with a pink polo shirt with the color popped up I
will have to tear it off his girlyness.I cannot understand why BYU
fans wear all colors (including the old 1980's and 1990's blue) but will not
wear BYU BLUE to a game. Last year was MUCH better - but I still saw
several BYU (man fans) wearing pink at the BYU-UCLA game. The shame
was great - I think it is why we lost that game.Interestingly the next
week at Tulsa the BYU fans were all wearing Oklahoma State gear but at least to
their credit it wasn't PINK
i like to read some of the pathetic stuff BYU fans come up with on this board
from time to time, but "DUDS!! at 2:06 pm" has to be the best one
ever...claiming that BYU is better because they get more people on the DesNews
message boards is absolutely hilarious...also, you can find game
tickets to LES on ebay as well when the game is played there...i would know, i
bought some...but Utah is not anymore spotted with blue on gameday as BYU is
spotted with red...LES just holds more people...on that same point,
the number of people that write on the message boards and attend the game do not
make the football team a good team...while it can be a cool feeling to see that
many people watching you, getting cheered by 30,000 or getting boo'd by 65,000
makes no difference on how you play...it will get you excited either
way...ultimately it comes down the players, and we can't do anything about it as
fans...good luck to both teams...i would say watch what you say, but
we know BYU fans are too prideful to eat crow...dont tell that to their bishops
byu gets lucky 2 years in a row and all of a sudden they've "dominated the past
30 years" hahahah good one
Typical case of selective history to provide the numbers that you want. I don't
think football started in the 1960's, so I bet that the totals they were
referring to involve ALL of history, not just the part you like to remember. How bout this for a trend? The "magic", miracles, gifted ref calls, or
whatever dumb luck that has handed BYU last second desperation W's the last 2
years will run out. You've used up all your luck for a lifetime the last 2
years when you should have won by a lot more (not nearly lost both). Now that
we are pretty evenly matched and you have no hope.
The Candy Apple Red helmets with sparkles are cool--not sure if that qualifies
as Crimson, but what the hey. The new uni's are better than the "Coke Classic"
uni's.---------Now that they've addressed the uni's,
it's time that Utah got rid of the lamest and most sexist college fight song
lyrics EVER. Get with it Utah; move into the 21st century."Utah MAN"
I am a Utah Man, sir, and I live across the green, Our gang it
is the jolliest that you have ever seen. Our coeds are the fairest and
each one's a shining star, Our yell, you'll hear it ringing through the
mountains near and far! Who am I, sir, A Utah Man am I! A Utah
Man, sir, Will be 'til I die. Ki-yi! We're up to snuff, we
never bluff, we're game for any fuss. No other gang of college men dare
meet us in a muss. So fill your lungs and sing it out and shout it to the
sky, We'll fight for dear old crimson for a Utah Man am I! Ki-yi!
Wow... Nowhere did I insinuate that the 2007 UNLV game had anything to do with
the 2004 Utah season. How you leapt to that conclusion we may never know. The
first paragraph of my comment was refuting the nonsensical dismissal of BYU's
National Championship in 1984 given by "To the ladies of byu." The second
paragraph was clearly alluded to the equally inane premise that BYU will lose at
Washington. While they might, the entire argument of "To the ladies of BYU" was
that Utah is great based on the past, but we'll assume that BYU will lose in the
future. I took the logic back to the past (albeit the RECENT past) to draw some
corollaries...Speaking of corollaries, did Utah lose to North
Carolina in 2005? Just wondering... I'm not exactly sure how losses the year
after a team is great matter, but since a Ute fan brought it up, I thought a Ute
fan might know...
Take out Hall, Unga and Collie to injury and see how well you do against even
We should all just read his post at 2:12 and sit quietly and deeply and
thoughtfully consider how superior BYU is.Thank you for your time
HAHA Sea of Blue! When BYU shows up there'a all sorts of colors! Going to BYU
game is like jumping into a bag of Skittles!
Kewgar fans are going to lecture Utah about uniform colors?!?!Need I
remind you of the debacle that was the BIB-UNIFORMS, not to mention the
introduction of copper or gold or rust or whatever that was supposed to be as a
NEW school color!Kewgar fans have no room to talk uniform smack
until they give the Aggies back their blue.
You can say that again! Just look at the hogs down at byU!!
They look just as bad and red as the last ones!
Like it or not BYU has won the last two games in football - that is the fact.
Who cares who won in 1996 or 2004. The team who won last is all that matters.
And BYU won the last game.If Utah win this year then that changes. Another fact: Nation-wide NO ONE cares about the U's football team -
they are not mentioned. I live in Nebraska and people don't know the difference
between Utah and Utah State. But everyone knows who BYU is. Everyone. Utah had a
couple of good years (a few years ago). BYU has had overall sustained success
since College football became nationally relevant (outside Southbend Indiana and
Anne Arbor). 90% of college football fans nationwide culd not tell you more than
two players who have ever played football for Utah. That is not the case with
BYU - and if you think otherwise you are an idiot. This just needs to
be accepted and we can all move on.
I like the New Uni's. Under Armor makes some pretty cool gear. I hate to wish the summer away but, I can't wait for the season to start. I'm
way excited to see how the team does this year. It looks to be a great year!

Order, and BYU, has been restored.
I hope they keep the same color of helmets that they have used the past 3 years.
The old red color is so ugly it makes me puke!
As mentioned before - it is nice that the helmet color actualy matches the
uniform color now.I am not a Utah fan but if the Utes did a Red
jersey with black pants that would be pretty awesome. Even better looking than
To "Resore Order!!!" 12:43...I believe President Hinckley and President Monson
graduated from Utah, what does that say about your perfect little world?"Putting them to good use" you sound like a 10 year old bully. Your
arguement is weak. Can you back up your claim that "a long time ago" BYU used
navy? Maybe...maybe as an accent color, but I've always known Aggie Blue
belonging to the Aggies. Why are there so many Y fans commenting on
this story anyway? And so negatively? Aren't you all supposed to be above
this, living "the right way"? BYU needs to drop its sports program for the sake
of the members of the LDS church. They say it does missionary work, but all I
ever see in that aspect is hate and venom. It turns otherwise good people into
monsters. It is a source of unrighteous pride.
Even when the u of u tries to look good, they look bad. It is nice that the
three or four u of u fans are prolific posters so that it looks like they are
legion. Once again, I would like to thank the u of u fans that sell their home
game tickets on ebay so that BYU fans can have a SEA of BLUE at the ute game on
Utah actually needs to decide on a color! Your helmets have never matched your
uniforms. Which is it, Crimson or Candy Apple Red? Do you want cute little
sparkles with that?
lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig!
Your stats are correct (I think). However, your conclusion is in
error.Utah did dominate the first 40 years of the series. BYU then
dominated the next 30 years (not 45 as you stated). The last 15 years
have not been dominated by either team even though Utah has the head to head
edge and BYU has the conference championship edge. Things have been pretty even
You are looking at a Utah/UNLV game in 2007 to somehow determine the legitimacy
of the 2004 team? That's quite a stretch.If I recall correctly, BYU
was beaten by UTEP (yes UTEP) the year after their 1984 championship team. That
is pretty embarassing. However, the bottom line is that 1985 BYU/UTEP
game had nothing to do with the 1984 team. And, the 2007 Utah/UNLV game had
nothing to do with the 2004 Utah team.
I'm not a Utah fan, but I like the uniforms. I think both Utah and
BYU will have a great 2008. Stop throwing around stats and trash talk. Let's
just play some football. The game scores will speak for themselves.
Hey Y fans, why are u commenting on a UTAH article? Do you really love the U
that much? That's kinda sad... same goes for the U fans that post on byU
articles. Oh and Coogs you're right- uniforms don't help you beat your rival.
Look at byU's year in 05. You know what helps byU win against Utah? Prayers and
Miracles. Not skill.
Remember Cougar fans (term used lightly)The overall series BYU VS Utah has been
dominated by Utah the past 30 years does not a series make. Utah has more
conference championships in football. Has more wins against BYU and the trend
will continue order will be restored.
Speaking of team color changes.... Does it look like they have moved back to the
cherry red helmet, and away from the darker helmet they where so hip on a few
Unfortunately for Utah, the Skyline Conference and Utah's football dominance
over BYU disappeared into the sunset with the dawning of the new Western
Athletic Conference in 1962. And, a new sheriff came to town. Utah had their last hurrah in the 1964 Liberty Bowl, then disappeared
from the bowl scene for the next 3 decades. Before 1962Utah--310-173-27 (61%); 31-2-4 vs BYU; 20 conference championships; 1 bowl; 0

To all of you stupid ute fans, new uniforms will not help you from getting
crushed against BYU this year. You guys are just jealous that you were not
accepted into BYU in the first place, so you had to settle for less! P.S.
Congrats on finally having you helmets the same color as the rest of your butt
ugly uniforms!Go Cougars!!
All you aggie fans can shut yer pie holes about BYu's colors and be grateful
someone is putting them to good use instead of associating them with "team that
can't win". Besides, a long time ago that color was BYu's then they went to
royal blue and then back to navy again.
It's true, BYU's National Championship was clinched against a perennially
powerful Michigan team that was 6-5. Utah, on the other hand, obviously
deserved to be National Champions after beating a perennially mediocre that
accidentally earned a BCS berth (Big East) and ended up 9-4. But
yes, after BYU loses to Washington, BYU fans will hang their heads in shame...
The Utes, on the other hand, will attempt to score against UNLV this year. 27-7
is a little more respectable than getting blanked by the Conference doormat.
When I saw the headline I thought it was going to be an article about their new
recruits (new duds)...
I love the classy photo shoot they had in front of a chain link fence on the
side of the road. Did gymnastics have their press room scheduled?
Hey cougirls, at least we know what our colors are. you guys have a little
identity crisis. are you royal and white, aggie and gold, or aggie blue and
white? What's in store the NEXT ten years?
Interesting... "Restore Order!!!" accidentally noted that since 2006 BYU is 2-0
vs. Utah in football and 4-0 vs. Utah in basketball. But if you eliminate all
of the games that BYU won and assume that Utah won every game played in the
history of the rivalry, then BYU is a bunch of losers and Utah is AMAZING!!! In
fact, Utah is so AMAZING that their President is a BYU grad, their Head Football
Coach is a BYU grad, and their only perfect football season was immediately
followed by the Head Coach heading South. Oops...
We have alternate black uni's. They are on NCAA Football '09. All black ones.
congrats yewts your helmets finally match the jerseys
Red on red again? Come on! Let's try something new that doesn't look dumb.
How bout white pants? Or heck, lets try some alternate black uni's for a
All these little BYU fans like to pick when to pull statistics from, why not he
entrie history of the series? In football, Utah 54, BYU 33. In basketball, Utah
124, BYU 121. Don't worry, I will give you credit for you NC against a 6-5
Michigan that was won in the last four minutes. Let me ask a question of you
all, after you lose to washington, do we get to change the fight song to rise
and shout the cougars have choked at the beginning of the season again...?
30 year history? That seems to be an interesting time frame. By the way since
1978, BYU 19, Utah 11. OK you win. What is the record between the
two in the last 15? That seems like relevant history. Utah 9, BYU 6.History restored....... I can't wait for this year. You fans in
blue have set your self up for a huge let down. It is going to be quite fun to
see the sad faces on Sunday. You have a few more weeks to crow but
the reality will soon start to set in.
You summed it up nicely. Can't wait for Aug. 30.
Since '93 Utah is 9-6 against byU in football. And is 24-14 against byU in
basketball. Take away the past two years and the kewgs record is pretty
pathetic. (9-4 and 24-10)
Not bad. MAJOR improvement over that lame "trendy" Univ. of Miami "Coke-can"
look we've been using since Meyer left. Nevertheless, I still liked the unis
worn by our players back in the Fassell/McBride era much better.GO
I'm so excited for football I actually read this no-news article. Who cares?
Just start the kick off!
"...U to unveil new duds..."DN strikes again!
I think a uniform patterned after Hello kitty would suit them better. After all
we all know they are the little sister to UTAH!!! p.s. wouldn't cosmo look
cute? Go Utes!!!!
At least the new uni's won't have a white bib on the front of the jersey. Like
the color thieves from down south.
Can't wait to see a sea of Crimson again this year at a BCS bowl. Cougar fans
can relate, there is a sea of BYU Aggie Blue every year at the Las Vegas Bowl.
What do you mean order will be restored to the universe with Utah beating BYU?
Since when has Utah had a constistently beat BYU in both Football and
Basketball? Other than a small period, it hasn't happened during the past 30
years. There is no need to restore order, it was already done with the hirings
of Mendenhall and Rose. Go Cougars!
When will the Frutes realize simply changing uniforms will not better their
chances against BYU. Order has been restored to the universe and
conference with BYU dominating, check your thirty year history.
Why did ByU steal the colors from Utah State?
Best post ever!
Hey byU fans, how about you give the Aggies back their colors now?Utah WILL beat byU this year in both Football and Basketball. Order will be
restored to the Universe and byU fans will be left to ponder how come they
aren't living right.Go Utes!!!
Some possible synonyms for Coach Whittingham to add to the vocabulary in the
"I think we're exited that we're excited because of all this excitement we
really have become excited. Really, if you think about all the excitment you
will realize that this is all very exciting. I am certianly excited and the
players are excited to."
icing on the cake!
Do you think Coach Whittingham could possibly say Under Armor or excited a few
Obsessed with Utah football.
New, old, nice, or ugly, the uniforms won't help Utah beat BYU this year! Here
is my prediction: BYU beats Utah, and Utah takes off their uniforms after the
game and begins burning the uniforms on the field because they believe the new
uni's jinxed them against BYU, and Utah drops their Under Armour sponsor!
that the Utah Players are excited about their new uniforms. I'm glad that coach
Whittingham is of the opinion that "that is what it is all about".
An appropriately titled article when talking about the U of U football team.
