    @big j

Well keep claiming it enough and maybe someone will believe it. I doubt it though. Have fun "driving" to el paso. LOL!

It is interesting how an article on the Utah kicker turned into a juvenile battle over which fans would support their teams better and how many offers Whitt actually got. Here are the realities.

Petersen missed three field goals that he usually has made. I give him a pass because Utah should have been scoring touchdowns instead. That game was one of the few times Whitt has not had his team ready to play.

Coach Whitt is nationally well respected and has received offers and solicitations from other more nationally prominent programs than Utah. He likes it here. He is making very good âcoinâ. He could leave one day but I doubt it is going to happen. If it does, I wish him the best!

I will be at the Sun Bowl in spite of Utah wrecking my reservations in Eugene. Three buddies and I are driving down and back. It will be a great road trip.

There is no comparison between the Sun Bowl and the Armed Forces Bowl. The Sun Bowl has more prestige, better opponents and a bigger payout.

The Pac-12 conference is the ideal conference for Utah to be in and the envy of the BYU Lil nation. The national exposure and television revenue will far exceed anything BYU has with ESPN. Utah games have meaning
    Ducky, get a life!
    GO UTES!

No they generally claim there are potentially that many BYU fans since that is how many Mormons there are. I know a lot of BYU fans that never attended BYU, never had a family member attend BYU, and really don't have any connection at all to BYU other than being Mormon.

But of course not all Mormons are BYU fans but it is only a small minority of Mormons that are BYU haters. A very small minority. Unfortunately those Mormon BYU haters make up a very large portion of the utah "fan"base.

That said do you want to make a wager on which of the two schools will have more of their fans at their bowl game?

"Personally I don't care if you go to the sun bowl or not, I'm just pointing out that you are pretty much like all of the other utah "fans" and are not going to the sun bowl."

Of course, some BYU "fans" claim there are 13 million Y fans worldwide. Which means that stadium in Fort Worth better be ready for 13 million folks decending on...oh wait. Probably not.

Personally I don't care if you go to the sun bowl or not, I'm just pointing out that you are pretty much like all of the other utah "fans" and are not going to the sun bowl. I'm sure all of you have your reasons for not going but the point is pretty much none of you are going. So much for the prestige and the great destination ute "fans" have been claiming. If that was true I'm sure some of you would change your plans and actually go.

Also when you have to declare victory like you did above it pretty much means you have lost. When you truly win everyone else knows it and you don't have to try to claim it.

    1. And I'm sorry, I went a little far in my claim. I reread the article about Florida, a mountain west connection article, and what happened was the AD there had spoken with Whittingham and planned an interview with him and potentially Peterson and there was speculation that he was going to be offered the job afterwards.
You see, I'm willing to admit my mistakes and not be petty about it. But here's a lesson in writing: when you ignore a point an opponent's made, you give them that point. Here's the one's you've given this board so far:
    1. That without our starting QB, we still earned our bowl more than you guys.
    2. That espn handed BYU their bowl, regardless of your final record.
    3. That Whit chose the Utes over Tennesse and your beloved BYU.
    4. That Whittingham has a large amount of "real interest" among universities.

Also, you've shown that you've extensively researched Utah's bowl game (the transportation requirements, GT's ranking vs Tulsa's, etc..). Hmm, you sure you aren't truly a Ute at heart and just fighting it? I mean, facing denial is important. come on, just say it once. Go Utes!

    Dec. 12, 2011 3:11 p.m.

Haha, very nice, glad to see that you manage to retain your class when responding. For the fun of it, I think I'll answer your comments in reverse order

    3. No I won't be at the game. I would, but I made plans to return home and spend new years eve with my family months before the bowl game was ever determined. Are you seriously going to mock me for not abandoning a prior engagement and instead watching the bowl on tv with my loved ones?

    2. Congratulations on the ticket sales, I'm actually glad to see that BYU's getting some fans at their game, but you then killed the point by talking about tulsa. No offense to them, but they're a CUSA team that's lost to every FBS team they've played. Two of GT's losses are to 13 Georgia and 10Virginia Tech and they beat #5 Clemson. Plus, they're freaking third in the country in rushing offense, so don't pull out rankings unless there are actually statistics to back up that ranking.

There is not one single report of Florida offering whittingham their coaching job. Not one. You are the only one that has ever claimed that they have. Please tell us how you know this so that you can retain your credibility. I'll be waiting patiently. It would seem to me that whittingham has received enough real interest that utah "fans" wouldn't have to just make stuff up to make it seem as if he is something more than he really is.

As far as tickets for the Armed Forces Bowl are concerned, well they are going quite well and there will be a lot of BYU fans at it. I would ventrue a guess that BYU fans at the Armed forces Bowl will outnumber utah "fans" at the sun bowl by a minimum of 5 times, probably much more. Also BYU's opponent, Tulsa, is higher ranked than utah's opponent GT but thanks for asking.

Oh and of course just like all the other utah "fans" on here you're not going to the sun bowl now are you. You know you aren't and I know you aren't. Basicly no utah "fans" are.

    News flash!

Dr. Hill and Coach Witt jet agreed to a $2M a year contract!

Its like signing our own Declaration to the PAC12, the Utes are serious!

Hows that Declaration of IndyPendence doing that Holmoe wrote up?

Ducky, it's good to see you back. I was actually thinking that your obsession of the Utes was subsiding a little bit. I guess we can only hope for a poor soul like you. Let me ask you you follow the Utes more or the Cougs? Are you a Utah hater or Y fan? I'm going with a hater. Go Ducky!!

    Dec. 11, 2011 11:00 p.m.

    @ Duckhunter

By some interest, do you mean the reported 3 to 4 million dollar contract Tennessee offered him. Also, the gators offered him and Boise State's coach the job after Meyer left Florida, but Whit and Peterson refused, happy to stay where they were. Kinda like how he chose coaching the Utes over the cougars after Meyer left Utah.

And normally, I try to be as moderate as possible, but it seems you bring out the best in me, so here goes: Speaking on ticket sales, how's it going for BYU? Wow, that surely is gonna be a FUN bowl to watch out there in Fort Worth. I mean, Tulsa, wow, you guys really have a challenge there, they're much tougher than the third best rushing offense in the country. What's next year, is ESPN going to give you guys a bowl again? I hope that next year you guys actually try and earn your bowl game instead of using FCS teams as stepping stones. I mean, without our starting QB, we still managed a 7-5 season, with your two best QB's and an easy schedule, you only managed 2 more wins. Now that says quality football.

Whittinghams wife is a BYU grad, a former cheerleader actually. LOL!

Whittingham had "several offers by SEC schools"? Really? We know Tennesse showed some interest but who are the rest of the "several" and what were the "offers" they made to him? Funny how you know this but it has never been reported in the press nor has anyone but you ever heard about all of these other "offers".

So ticket sales must be going very briskly for the lucrative and prestigious sun bowl in the glamorous and desirable destination of el paso, texas. I mean why else would whittingham and bergstrom be dispatched to beg the litterally hundreds of utah "fans" at the hc yesterday to buy them? I'm sure if they tell them there are no direct flights to el paso from SLC but they can all charter a bus in Albuqurque to take them the last several hours they might get one or two more "fans" to attend. I suppose they can always give the tickets away at the Gateway. They can tell "fans" that if they'll accept 2 basketball tickets for free then they can have 2 bowl tickets as well.

    @ ThomasHefferson

Coach Whit was made several offers by SEC schools a few years ago before all of his success. If he turned all of their big budgets down for the U, what makes you think he'd go to Penn State or ASU? Plus, thehailstorm has a point. I see whit staying for a long time.

How many offers has Bronco had in his tenure at BYU? Where I would hate to see Whitt leave, it is good to know that you have a coach that is wanted. Must say something good about him.

Maybe you haven't read his interviews. He likes it here, his wife is a U grad, his satellite family lives in he area, and as Coach Kyle put it " I'm where I want to be , doing what I want to do ".
I don't think he'll be leaving for the $$ elsewhere because some things a coaches wife can't buy elsewhere--her home.
I look for him to have many successful years on the hill. Much to the dismay of the blew bloods.

    "Utes football: Petersen just kicking"

That was the problem against the Buffs: He was "just kicking" when he should have tried "making."
