Zamok 2:54 p.m. Dec. 9, 2011: "All of these guys dreamed of playing BYU football"

Sorry, not true. Probably only Putnam dreamed of playing at BYU. The other guys are either not LDS or, like Heaps, actually preferred another school before choosing BYU.

"Shown the door" implies BYU asked them to leave. Putnam had grade problems to work out as did Phillips and Bryson. Fabuluje and Heaps (and soon Gaines) all requested to leave.

The only guy remotely "shown the door" was Chambers and you'll see him play next year.

The players on the team are given EVERY opportunity to succeed in school at BYU, with so much more assistance and guidance than your average student. Mendenhall holds them accountable for their academic performance, as does Rose with his team.

Did Rose show Mike Loyd the door 2 years ago? Did he show Michael Boswell the door this year?

Interesting picture...yet another posterized picture of Jimmer against the tUn. How many has it been in a row...10. There are players who were freshman at the U that have never beaten BYU in basketball. Must be sad for local family members to experience that type of futility.

Where have you guys been? Wayne makes a legit point! Lets see who was shown the door just this past year? Ok Fabuluje, Chambers, Heaps, Bryson, Phillips and we almost lost Putnam and Gaines. There may have been others too.

All these guys dreamed of playing BYU football. Most of the issues (including a couple academic) could have been worked through with some guidance.

Point is, Rose is much better at handling talent and flat out knows how to develop highly touted players. Good luck to Jimmer!

There are thousands of seats available for tomorrow's game at Utah. I can't wait to see a BYU home game at the Huntsman Center. Let's fill it up with blue.

Good luck to Jimmer. Looking forward to how he develops during his first pro year. Seems that the Kings' offensive style might be just the ticket for his talent.

Rogers is a pure shooter. Know how you can tell? He can hit from ALL normal shooting distances.

Most players who think they're pure shooters are only consistent from their favorite distances, or even certain spots on the floor. Rogers is consistent from anywhere on the floor, except Jimmer range. No one has that except for Jimmer. That's what made Jimmer Jimmer, not just his high scoring average.

Glad to have Rogers on the team. He's certainly met the expectations we had from hearing about his shooting ability when he first came here.

Now, with Nate Austin blooming, and Carlino soon to join the team's lineup, this BYU team is set to make some noise in the NCAA again. Could be a fun year!

The BYU athletic department should use Jimmer as the model for every athlete that comes into BYU. They should show them, in detail, Jimmer's work schedule and ethic, his strength and conditioning routine, his ability to get along with teammates, his humility (no prima donna) and his willingness to live the standards. Every athlete should understand that is what is required to become a true Cougar. I hope the administration is wise enough to see the value of Jimmer long-term.

Back to the subject at hand....we love the way this basketball team is performing. Lots of great talent. They are exciting to watch. Thanks to Jimmer for helping his former teammates get better. We're excited to see how the team performs at the Huntsman Center this Saturday.

    Go Cougars!

So, Wayne, who on the football team was "shown the door?"

It's a good thing that Jimmer did not play football...he'd have been shown the door after the first year. I wonder of Coach Rose could take over the football program as well?
