Keep trying to bash on a coach, who has states titles and is who he is and doesnt change him self for anyone, He knows what to say, and has been aroudn girls high school basketball longer then you have been alive probably, so why would you not interview the guy when all he says is things that are making his team better. What is your problem??

Its about THE TEAM! not anyone else, if you go to there practices u would see a whole new world, he plays so many girls, he has people wanting to have there daughters go play for him, so what do you have against aritcles choosing who to write about?

His team is 10-0 right? YES so who else they suppose to write about?

Syracuse is an amazing team, and rand has said nothing but that. no one is comparing Bingham to Syracuse, becuase ya there out of everyone elses league. But there has to be at least 3 4 teams who are up to challenge them, and Bingham could be.

HighSchoolSportsLover - No bashing here. Just wondering why, over the years, RR gets more press than other girls BB program. Some coaches have been known to have a way to get the media to their games for the coverage and exposure they so covet. I'm sure RR is an interesting interview for sports writers. It is interesting to read articles on RR's teams and compare those articles about other teams (I would invite you to make the comparison). The Bingham articles mention the coaches name 2-3 times more than in articles about other teams. Now ask yourself, is it all about the girls (players) or the coach?

Insideview, Its not the coach that makes the chocie of who gets articles in the papers, He probably does like reading his name in the paper, but it's not his fault, the reports goto successful programs and write their articles, why bash on a coach or program for being successful and getting in the papers

HighSchoolSportsLover - Why get so defensive. I was just pointing out that "over the years" (not just this year) the Bingham coach gets more articles written about "Him" and his team than any other program in the State of Utah. It's a fact. Yes, he has a very successful program and yes, he is a good coach, but I also beleive he loves reading his name in the paper.

coach hines - That is for sure. My bet is that Bingham loses at least twice before even getting to Syracuse. Syracuse should be playing U of U and BYU in order to get some competition.

Bingham coach will need to keep his 'watchful eye' out for syracuse-they are the best girls team in the state!

the guy has 4 state titles in girls basketball, and been apart of the final four at state, how many times? I cant even count!

and he has numerous state baseball titles coaching at Waterford and Bingham!

this aritlce did not talk anything about the coach. Everyone is because you have to respect Rand.

all those girls knowing stay at Bingham and go to Bingham, why play at West Jordan, CH, Kearns, and get PT and lose alot! ha

hoops 24/7 - You bring up a good point. My guess that it is the better choice of 2 evils. Without any real size, Bingham tries to out-run/out condition teams. So to play at the speed, 5 players would have trouble. You are right about the rhythm, it is tough to get a great feel. By one other article that was done, the players seem to like it and by their comments, their main concern is that they win the game by whatever works. I find it refreshing that a program worries about winning and teamwork before individual stuff. My daughter played for an opponent of Bingham in the late 90's and it was the same then. Play for the team, not for yourself. They seem to find their rhythm in the 2nd half when the other team is tired. I have also heard from friends in that area that their practices are very competitive. You will practice hard when you know you are going to play. Can't argue with success.

Rand is a great coach...but, how can his players get in any kind of rythym?? ya play for a bit and start getting hot and then BAM...... Next 5 in ! That would my only complaint about playing that style of ball. He knows what he's doing, but still would be hard to play like that.

InsideView, What are you talking about, this is the first article they have written about the Bingham Girls Basketball Team. Are you jealous? does your team not make the papers? The newspapers write about good teams. Improve your program before you slam others.

Why does the Bingham High School girls basketball coach get more press than amy other girls program in the State?

It is an interesting way to run a team, with so many girls coming in and out. Not sure he will do this when they run into Lone Peak, Alta, Syracuse, etc. but you have to give credit for building depth in that program. After watching Bingham for many years at the state tournament, Rand has had many players that have been able to score a lot of points but somehow, they are always unselfish and share not only the ball but also the accolades that come along with winning. Lots of scholarship players, all-state players, and some titles as well. If you are a selfish player, not sure you could play for him. I certainly don't always agree with the way he does things for he gets on the ref's and is tough on his kids. But you have to give Rand and Bingham credit as well. They don't always win but they have been a consistent contender for many years so they must be doing something right. I work with one of his x-players and she loves him to death. Calls him her 2nd dad. That is a compliment.

When did Rand coach football at Bingham?

Hopefully Rand is getting the message to the girls that it the team that matters and not the 1 player. It looks like it. Summer Yack must be a good player who likes the team concept or else Rand wouldn't keep her in the games. So Far the Miners have had an easy go of it. Brighton and West Jordan (as ususl) are Horrible. When the Miners face a challenge it will be good to have players Like Summer who can score alot, and also pass the ball. When teams play together teams win. When one person tries to do it all, or hogs the ball, or playes for personal stats, that's when disaster strikes.
Unless your a Jimmer talent, which no one at Bingham is, you better play as a team. It's worked for Rands teams before, both in football and baseball.

Rand has had talented girls who can score, but he does not care. you do it his way and its the right way, share the ball, play hard defense while your in, and just buy into what he does as a coach. Every game he makes adjustments.

    Smart Coach....!

If only you knew that that one guard wants what's best for her team. Sounds like someone is a little jealous of the success that she has earned. She could easily score at least 20 a game but no, she is distributing the ball to her teammates so that they can be as successful as possible. Read the quote that her very own coach said about her in the article.

Nice to see balanced scoring from the Bingham girls team and not the one guard taking all the shots. This will help them throughout the year
