How about this @LP fan. Tell me the last time Fremont's defense gave up more than 20 points in one game except to East High. Now tell me the last time LP gave up more than 20. Yes a very well-rounded team you have indeed.

    @ LP fan

All games are different, I hate when people do that.

Stop doing it yourself. You say Bingham has got us beat...that was last year, please stop doing that. I hate when people do that. Each game is different and Fremont can beat any of the so called big boys any day.

    @just fyi

Just an FYI for you...Fremont is 6-2. Get your facts straight before you post on here thinking you know everything.

your offense scored 21 against brighton, and you think your going to score more, you know them bingham boys play differently up at the U.

Stop comparing this years team to the last 2 years of Bingham, they were number #4 in the nation. You people have no idea, this is a new bingham team, and not the favorite, we found that out when we got demolished, hopefully they can get healthy and take it one game at time because, fremont alta lone peak all in a row to win it, so if they can pull it off hopefully people respect these boys. or any team that can go through that, such as fremont, but i dont think it will happen

    @LP Fan!
Bingham is riding the coat tales of what was, what used to be! Bingham of today could not compete with Bingham of yesterday. Also, Bingham wont play Fremont in the final, they would play in the second round in the upper bracket. I pick Bingham to beat Fremont in that round but thats where Binghams playoffs stop. Alta is playing on another level and SHOULD easily handle Bingham in the semi's.

Fremont looks good and a quick peak at the playoff bracket has Fremont in a one heck of a war to the finals. Having to got through Bingham then Alta only to then face Lone peak in the Finals would be something for the record books. I say best of luck! It will be a ride I wont wanna miss that's for sure. Sorry folks, Lone Peak wins 5A state this year over Alta in the final. Great conversation though.

All games are different, if Fremont makes it to the finals it wont be a game! Just because they had a good game agasint davis doesnt mean they will come november. I have when people do that. All teams are different and all games are different. BIngham has got you beat im sorry.

Fremont's TD against Davis was called back for PI on the other side of the field not because he was out of bounds. Also, all of LPs points against the Darts were earned by the offense. Fremont got one on defense off a pick and recovered a fumble deep in Davis' territory. Both Fremont and LP are good teams. Good luck the rest of the way.

    You sound scared.

Very much looking forward to the playoffs to see how this all shakes out. The "Pack" D is as good as any in the state. In the meantime Fremont will take one game at a time.

    Let's go Wolves!!

apex well said. I might add that Hill AFB is at the centroid of the Region 1 and is the acknowledged employment leader in the State and the economic engine that has sustained this region for years. It is an added benefit that Region 1 has been blessed with diversity in athletes due in part to the civilian & military workforce. Syracuse, Fremont, Weber, Davis, Layton etc all enjoy an enviable academic record as well as success in athletics.

The open enrollment "bug" has not invested Region 1 sports which further sets them apart from the others. I salute all the football programs going into their final regular games and wish everyone an injury free week.

just fyi: "And im sorry but how is 15 points supposed to win championships when a team like LP has scored more than 40 points in 6 out of their 8 wins." LP played Thursday night in the wet and I believe the score was 17-0 vs P-Grove?

Not trying to offend LP nation but the greater SLC metro area has perfected the art of ignoring Region 1 football. I enjoy watching LP play and I enjoy a good Miners game. Objectively Fremont has a very unique team this year and I would love to see 2 very well matched teams meet in the finals.

I know that in California & Texas they talk of no less then 10-15 top tier 5A schools when discussing the build up to the playoffs and we in Utah continue to talk about the same 5 schools over and over. It will be a boost to Utah football to expand the sphere of quality teams. We are a PAC12 State now and expanding our pool of homegrown talent lends more credibility to the State and to our great football programs....not football program.

@just fyi and lp fan. heres a fun fact for ya. lone peak beat davis 21-10. Fremont beat davis 21-7.

but lone peak only had a 3 point lead before 1 min left in the game. so that game could have gone either way.

Davis scored early in the 2nd quarter against fremont but fremont responded with a touchdown that got overturned wrongfully (he had feet in the end zone watched it on film.) fremont POWNED the whole game. davis only had one more drive after they scored where they even made it into the end zone. which ended in a fremont interception. so i think fremont and lone peak will be a good game. but fremonts D will control chase hansen and the LP offense just like they did last year only this time they will finish first not second in state.

I completely understand how critical finances are but I would think that the State Runner-up 5A football team would deserve some money for a play clock on the field. These kids deserve to play in an environment that is more closely aligned with how things are done in CA & TX & PA & OH etc. I know artificial turf is an investment but watching Syracuse and Fremont slog it out made wonder if the kids wouldn't be safer....just a thought.

I hope it is dry in Layton on Friday.

Jarrod, very nice article thank you. We greatly enjoyed watching the game. 2 impressive and well coached teams playing in terrible weather. I was worried someone would pop a knee of sort, and I said a prayer before every play and we are so blessed that no one was hurt. Sat next to a young man that was there scouting the game for the Arizona State University as they were in town to play the Utes, he would not comment on who they were looking at but nosey me saw that he was keeping notes on Fremont's Hollingsworth #31. its so exciting to see Utah kids get exposure outside the state! I hope Fremont & Syracuse have a super rest of the year.

"Wouldn't make much out of their losses to East and Jordan because they are both fantastic teams" i agree that they are both very skilled and talented teams, it is no seceret that Bingham, Alta, and, Lone Peak are more skilled and talented that both those teams.

ha so now you have to be invited. HA i cant wait for the day to see this teem get blown out by an amazing D and O form the Bingham Miners it will be a great day. I would of loved to see the Knights make to the final last year. And this is their year im not saying they are going to win. But they have alot better chance then the silverwolves. Bingham is amazing in all aspects of the game Fremont has a good D, so what BINGHAM, LONE PEAK>fremont, davis

Fremont is a great team that has only gotten better. I wouldn't make much out of their loss to Jordan or East both are fantastic teams but to win both teams had to grind it out the entire game and both wins came down to the wire, so give those Fremont boys some credit.

Fremont's 6 points was enough to beat Lone Peak last year and really they only need to win by one point to beat them again this year.

    Go Fremont!

Didn't know you had to be invited into these chats but my bad for interupting. So according to your logic of defence wins state rings, then PG is going all the way becasue they help LP to 17 points!! Who has fremont played to make their defence good? They played a legit Jordan team and lost. Lp is a better team than than any team Fremont has played, hands down.

binghamalum: We do not remember inviting you. You wander into discussions and incite fans by stirring the pot.....how your comments make it past the editor on duty (especially today) is beyond me.

binghamalum you have enough to worry about with your average team that you root for, let us enjoy a resurgent Fremont Squad that is flush with talent both on the field and in the classroom.

ha, Love fremont fans! Good win, you beat a team you should of beat, who is now on the bubble of just making the playoffs!! Good job!

Play someone that doesnt have a average of 16 points per game. like that whole region, no one has any offense.

Lone Peak, Bingham, Alta all have offenses.

Oh and I cant wait for you to play Brighton again!

They have a solid solid Defense, that is only better and better each week, you faced them for there first game technically becuase Davis game got cancelled after 2 quarters.

    Cant Wait for the playoffs!

On a wet and sodden field Fremont crushed Syracuse. Fremont's defense was stellar. Kudos to Jake Gallegos for a outstanding pick-6 and Luke Hollingsworth for a heroic 1st quarter and an outstanding game. Syracuse was beaten on the backs of the Fremont Defense period dot.

Shout out to O-Coord Mimnaugh (who I have been hyper-critical of this season) for keeping the ball on the ground and a massive use of QB keepers....brilliant! keep the ball on the ground and minimize exchanges. Folks this team will crush Lone Peak when the time comes. Defense wins championships!

On this miserable cold rainy night Fremont reigns as the Region 1 Champs and the team most likely to win State! You heard here first.

    Fremont deserves some astro turf.

Congrats Fremont Silver Wolves. Great team performance. Jake Gallegos scoring on defense was some good stuff. Luke Hollingsworth had a tremendous game and was key for the defensive line......I love this kid.

The Fremont Quarterback did a very very nice job in a terrible weather situation.

What a blistering performance from Fremont High Defense. Great interception by #81 Jake Gallegos. Awesome defensive play from #31 Luke Hollingsworth. Tremendous wet weather keep it on the ground game-plan. So glad no one was injured. Nothing can stop this team. Nick Vigil ran flawlessly!
