    Lincoln once said a house divided against itself cannot stand.

    I guess since Lincoln was a republican, harry and schumer think they are OK to ignore his wisdom when they incite class warfare, purely for political gain. BO brags about being a class warfarer - nothing like dividing a house against itself.

    People with money KNOW about money. A 5.6% surcharge on incomes over $1MM will further dampen the economy. If I have $985,000 in income and know that investing additional resources will bring my income up to $1,006,000, I will not make that additional investment because the 5.6% surcharge will reduce my income back down to $950,000; I lose $35,000 in the process. Too bad that the additional investment would have created 3 more jobs. Could I survive on $950,000 rather than $985,000? Sure, but why should I?

    Congress once imposed a luxury tax on cars over a certain price and motor homes over a certain price - the motor home and luxury car markets tanked, putting thousands of people out of work, But the demogague party was able to tell their dependent underclass that they had soaked the rich.

    Raising tax rates on High earners places a glass ceiling on the middle class. It makes it much more difficult to attain the American dream. Reid is confident his constituants are slackers or not very intelligent. Unfortunatly he is mostly correct, as the poll shows.

    Why not, that's what republicans have been doing in their class warfare of the past 15+ years.

    Reply: Well, that's some common sense, comeing from Phranc, that means Phranc does not contain any form of malware, including spyware, viruses, trojans and backdoors, as well as "Uncle Phranc" Ringtone to your Cell - My mom says she loves me but i know it's not yes yes yes she does cause she doesn't treat me like you treat someone you love, you love But i can choose my Own family...

    You kinda hit the nail on its head.

    @chris B
    they control 85% of the wealth Chris but then again the truth has never really been your friend has it? If you take more out of the system you should put more back I m sorry if that offends you but I really don't think we can expect that the bottom 40% of population that only earns 4% of the income is really going to pay the taxes necessary to get us out of this hole.

    This is a great political move by the Dems. They can campaign on this an given the make of their Party have a good chance to convince people that what they are selling is the truth. After all, I support raising revenue to pay for government as long as it is not on me. Get that other guy!!!

    For those who think rich people should be paying more, please let me know next time you are going shopping.

    I'm going to come with you and make my monthly purhcases. I'll then tell the cashier you are going to pay for the majority of what I buy because you make more than me.

    Such is the logic presented by the liberals.

    Shouldnt we each pay for what we USE?

    The richest 10% of Americans pay 70% of all income tax.

    Who cares if they control 70% of the wealth?

    Again - if you make 50% more than me does that mean I can send you 50% of my grocery bill and you will reimburse me?

    The rich are already paying for what they use.

    And what you use.
