    @ Aggie lover

I've got one for you and his name is Ed Lamb of Southern Utah University. That man knows what football is about and he brings it out of his players. I've never seen a coach get more fired up than him.

Good luck to Utah State the rest of the season. I am pulling for you to win the WAC, which is very possible.

Better go back to those religion classes at BYU. Maybe you missed:

"when ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me"

So now that I have noticed this, I must call you unto repentance for treating my Savior in this manner.

Sorry but the better team comes up with the win. LHS might win. If they do then good for them. SUU would beat USU now and I would be willing to put money on it. The better team wins. I respect SkyView but they are not the better team. USU is never the better team. Sorry Sports Nutz but we couldn't disagree more.

    @Ted H

Ted I'll choose to turn the other cheek. Although I am surprised that the DNEWS allows such hate filled comments onto the board there are times when it behooves us to take the loss and the comments and move on. As an outsider to the state and the LDS church I have been surprised more than once by the level of hatred spewed by BYU fans toward Utah and Utah State fans. I realize that goes both ways but when I read a post like yours I do have to cringe at what and who you represent, with that said I don't hate you.

As for the Aggies and its fan base it is not time to turn back now. As many posters have commented this program is close, very close to being great. We just need to step it up and move on to the next game, tough as that may be, move on, onward and upward. In this case the good news is we cannot go down but this team has the potential to go way up, so suck it up, one last time.

    Go Ags.

I live in Idaho now and have stayed away from the football games for years. I grew up in a time when the Aggies were very good. I moved away at the time the Aggies started downhill. I am now a season ticket holder and will start to donate $ to the athletic department once again. This team is more fun to watch than I can ever remember. The corner is just around the bend. I think the coaches are learning more about football at USU than the players are. Hopefully, they will learn when to be conservative and when to open the gates. Currently, there is no downfield play in the passing department. It really shows how good the running game is when the opponents know the 5 plays the Aggies have and can still put up the yardage they do. One of these days the Aggies will get their special teams to play and then watch out!
Will be there to see the Aggies route the Cowboys. Come on Aggie Nation. Fill up the stadium and start the chant "I believe that we will WIN" when the team comes out.

" I love that this game is the biggest for many Aggies. I love that this lucky win is a devastating blow. I love that your hatred for Byu consumes you."

BYU fans stormed the field after the game...against a team that is 1-3. What does that say about BYU fans? They must also consider this a big game. Trust me, this is only going to get bigger. Classy BYU fans will be thankful for the win and realize their team could very easily be 0-5 right now.

Now keep in mind that I for one am grateful they didn't, but you have to wonder why Turbin didn't get more carries. The man is a horse! I would have ran him at least 25 times that game. Utah State lost this one due to poor offensive play calling. Had they sustained that last drive, and ran out the clock, game over and win. Fortunately for the Y, they choked at the end. BYU and Utah State have much in common this year.

I challenge anyone to name a more qualified or passionate coach than Gary Anderson is for the Aggies at this time. We are lucky to have him and should count our blessings. There are too many nay Sayers and second guessers and armchair coaches. Let these guys do what they do best. They are on the rise and are exciting to watch and be a part of. I know the close losses are harder to take than the blow out losses in years past, but they show me improvement and excellence and a desire to get better. Great coach! Freshman of the year quarterback candidate! Best running backs in the state. A rising program that is getting and deserving the attention they are receiving. I predict filling Romney Stadium. I predict more wins left than losses. I know the losses hurt, but we need to stay behind them. They are our team.

There is too much of hatred. I think there are fewer fans who hate than those who love the battle and support their team or two. The haters just express themselves more, I suppose. What a great effort by two teams on the rise. What a great effort by a young man who knows how to compete and battle and win! Congrats Riley and BYU. Aggies would be crazy to not stay behind this team and this coach and these players. Please let's fill up Romney Stadium next week! Instead of getting down and discouraged, I am thrilled with the effort and the competition and the entertainment. I know it is all about winning, and I am a competitor too, but show me three more exciting games to the wire. They could have gone either way, and success is coming our way. I know this team won't quit. I hope all the Aggie fans and soon to be fans will stay behind them. It seems to me that people would almost be happier and more sympathetic if we were getting blown away in these games. We need to learn how to enjoy the journey a little more. .

Well I am certainly glad that Ted H does not represent the majority of BYU fans here such as BYU Joe. It the Ted H's of the world that give so many people reason to detest anything BYU. When BYU fans cheer because of an opposing player gets hurt like last night - that is disgusting and shows how classless so many BYU fans really are. The unfortunate fact is that Utah State outplayed BYU for nearly 55 minutes of this game. The Aggies have to play to win rather than playing not to lose. Congrats to BYU on not quitting - it was a great game to watch.

As an Aggie Alum, this hurts. However, I can sense a BIG change happening up in Logan. This feels similar to the change that came when Utah was starting to come out of mediocrity.

There is no arguing that BYU earned this win. They didn't give up and USU isn't the same doormat of past years. Robert Turbin is THE MAN. He is my favorite player in college football. But driving 96 yards in 2 minutes is a pretty fantastic feat.

If we can hang onto Gary Anderson for the long term (and I am hoping beyond hope we do) this rivalry will be restored and be fantastic. I am no less an Aggie fan this morning as I was before game time last night. In fact, I love them more than ever. And they are going to be great!

    Sports Nutz,

I'm happy you also hate all things BYU. I love it. I love that even a 54-10 beatdown wasn't enough for you guys. The fact that BYU pulled this game out of nowhere and got a lucky win makes you almost as mad as if byu had beat utah. I'm so happy it frustrates you so.

Utah State Aggies are by far the finest 1-3 team in the nation. Hope they win out and go to a bowl. Amazing progress in two short seasons.

Ted H, You are the typical byu fan that makes so many other fan bases hate you guys. It's not the byu teams they hate but fans like you. I hope you feel great going to your church meetings when putting down people the way you do.

Stang, Being a Mountain Crest you will see how a beat down feels once Logan thumps you. Sky View had you guys beat and was clearly the better team and they just got beat by 60 points. As for SUU they are a very good team for the league they are in.

Very impressive running game Aggies. There's been a losing mind set at Utah State for so takes time to turn that around. But, it's coming. This team is fun to watch. They move the ball, and what's more impressive, they play hard and don't give up. I'm not so sure that if they had a couple more minutes last night that the game may have turned out differently.I've become a fan, I'd like to see them play again. Good luck, stay focused, good things are happening in Logan.

Well don't know what to say. But here i go. First you have one of the top backs in the country. 3 carries in the 1st half come on. 2nd Anderson as a defense u play not to lose. Soft zone what do u think is going to happen when Nelson comes in the game get a spy technique person on him. He can't throw very well so he is going to run it.I know its hard but as a coaching staff u have to teach how to finish games not hope to. Good luck the rest of the way. Go all in state teams.

As an Aggie alum and fan, I may not be jaded enough not to recognize progress, but I'm pretty jaded nonetheless. I knew how the game would end during Heap's last series: Riley Nelson would come in, lead BYU to victory and not look back, and USU would continue being the Aggie football team I've come to know so well.

So is Rock saying the rivalry is only close when BYU is having down years?

    Oct. 1, 2011 8:47 a.m.

I will admit that over the years I have been "arrogant" about playing Utah State. We have everything to lose and nothing to win. However, last night felt different.

I appreciated the fact that I respected this Aggie Team. I was excited about the game and knew it would be good. They played Auburn to the last second and lost on a bad bounce of the ball. Coming in they should have been 3-0. But fate had it in for them. But I knew they were still good. Very Good.

I felt for their loss that day and I feel again for them this morning. They deserve better because they are better. So to our friends in Logan I say "good luck" in future games because we all know that you don't need hard work and skill anymore - you have that.

You may not have gotten any breaks but you have made your way to becoming a very good team. You have my appreciation and respect (not that I matter).

Go and win your conference, win your bowl game and make us all proud. You certainly are good enough to do it.

    Hey Rock.

Chuck Stobart coached the Utes, not the Aggies. Get your facts straight. You need an editor!

Have they ever known how to finish games? Based on all games but WSU this year I think the answer is no.

Well, this was one of those 'magic happens' moments. What can you say?

It was a tough game, the Aggies have a great team, their QB was solid and the running game is amazing. I wish I could watch more of them on tv.

Good luck in the rest of your season. There should be several wins down the road.

For years I incorrectly and naively thought Byu fans and Aggie fans generally cheered for each other. I cheered for Aggie basketball and football all growing up. Now that I understand better the pure bitterness and hatred that Aggies have for all things Byu it is really main these epic meltdowns hilarious. You should be 4 and 0 and ranked by now. Instead you likely have the worst set of three chokes for one season in college football history. Turbin is fantastic. Kenton is great. Byu is admittedly not very good. I love that this game is the biggest for many Aggies. I love that this lucky win is a devastating blow. I love that your hatred for Byu consumes you. And its awesome that none other than riley nelson is the reason Byu won. It almost brings tears to my eyes knowing how painful this must be. Nightmare scenario of riley capping amazing comeback win after game should have been over: reality. I could not have scripted it any better. Thanks Aggie fans. You bring me great joy tonight. I will probably forget tomorrow as we go onto bigger and better things like san jose state.
