Jarka, Fair enough. Like I said, one of Utahs creampuffs went on to beat Texas so not sure if that's big. What you said about the sec holds some merit. However Tennesee is a SEC team that got beat by Wyoming in their own stadium. Based on that I'd say a win over the bottom of the sec isn't anything to hang your hat on. After all Wyoming was the bottom of our conference that year (and Utah spanked Alabama that year). Never said a loss to USC is a positive. I agree that there are certain members of the U fan base that give us all a bad name. Likewise there are those on the Y fanbase that are much the same (Is Ducky still MIA). I still stand by what I said though. Until your team is as good as the one you're ripping a little humility. 9-4 compared to 7-6 54-10 etc.

Thanks hawk, true I am Bingham and BYU til the end. The LP game should be fun. Good luck to Alta as well at Rio Tinto. As to your other comments, As far as I can tell by the way the SEC is looked at as THE premier conf. in the nation, a win in SEC country on the road is a good win no matter who you are playing. So downplay that win all you want, but then why is a loss to USC a positive? Because of legacy? please. That's the Ute logic I don't get? then in that case a loss to Texas with all their legacy isn't all that bad. Like I said, last year the Ute fan base was talking the same talk, NC and BCS all the way after beating nothing but cream puffs, then TCU came to town. We'll see how good USC is this weekend and until the likes of Chris B and many many others take some humility lessons and show that mutual respect you mentioned, I'll keep on talking.

Hoops talk already can't be good for BYU football.

To Jake, the running game won't help you keep your hands on the ball, you didn't even look like you were at the game. It sad when I can figure out your next play, Doman needs to get off the sideline and in the booth, stop running the same play over and over and over . . . snooze, seriously I expected a heck of a lot more than what I'm seeing now. Enough said!

Jarka is as blue and white as they come. Bingham high and BYU. I'm Black red and white through and through Alta and Utah. I wouldn't rip USC too much though. At least they have a legacy. How is Ole Miss doing Jak? From what I recall they were the bottom of the SEC last year and just got slapped in the face by a very sub par team. Kinda puts things into perspective a little bit. When you rip on the Utes "creampuffs" then "blowouts" just remember one of those blowouts ended up beating mighty Texas shortly after and that was one of the big "marquis" teams BYU played (and lost to) this year. You've admitted BYU is no good thus far so I can't be too harsh but if you choose to place yourself with the Y show a little humility and less smack until your team is at least as good as the one you're tearing down. Utes have scoreboard this year and last year. A little mutual respect goes a long ways. BTW good luck to Bingham this week. Cant wait to see how the Bingham LP game plays out.

The Aggies should have finished off Auburn and it did burn for a few days. But seeing how this team has picked themselves up and are moving forward as opposed to blaming others, saying they are good while not playing like it and having Coach Andersen say there is no talent discrepancy between them and the team that beat them by 44 points makes me feel very comfortable going into the game on the 30th. Even though USU doesn't have near the fan base of byu I am sure the Aggies will show up.

Yes, BYwho is a powder puff. THanks for the admission! USC has top notch talent in Barkely and Woods. Now, since you have no leg to stand on, you use other team's performance against Utah as smack talk? HILARIOUS and desperate. I would expect nothing less from a Yner.

I had a good laugh watching the "fans" run to their cars after the 3rd quarter last Saturday night.

I'm fine with admitting BYU is bad this year, they haven't shown much otherwise, but doesn't change the facts about the Utes either. thanks for your input. I still feel bad your Aggies couldn't finish in Auburn, must still burn. But we'll see what happens on the 30th.

So jarka it is nice that you admit that byu is a powder puff. About time you came around. Trying to rip on Ute fans about how bad the Utes are, when they just thrashed your team makes you look foolish to say the least. GO AGGIES!

  • jarka-rus Layton, Utah

    Counter Intelligence
You assume Chris B had any credibility to start with, that is a very big assumption if ya asked me. Well BYU got thrashed at home and brought up a lot of questions about the coaching staff and heart of the players, well just like the Utes last year after they were riding high, TCU blasted them at home and they went in to the tank, so that's sports all you can do is get back out on the field.

Oh and Chris B? didn't your high powered Utes only muster 14 points against a mediocre USC team? seems to me they can't beat worthy opponents either, JUST like last year's team, they beat the powder puffs and got blown away by real teams. So keep on predicting, we'll all be sure to mark it down.

I want to know what happened to our offensive line. They were supposed to be the anchor in our offense. With no O-line, there will be no running game and defenses can key in on the passing game and Heaps (and he's showing he doesn't like to be targeted by defenses). I'm not sure, but it looked like we traded O-lines with Provo High School last week. The Utes made mincemeat out of them. I've been following BYU football since the late 70's and this is the worst defeat in my memory. I was embarrassed for the team. The one thing I'm not surprised about is there are more Ute trolls on another BYU article than there are BYU fans. The worst part is having to live in Houston with a former Ute Tight End living across the street from me and having to face him after a loss like last weekend.

i know i'm a utah guy, but i do have an interest in how byu does and i can't figure out why the coaches allow certain players to talk to the media. even the cougar faithful are getting tired of hearing heaps and corby eason isn't someone who should be talking about shutting down anybody. i want to hear from guys like kyle van noy and daniel sorensen and eathyn manumaleuna. note to ucf qb godfrey: it's okay to throw at eason. he's not going to intercept it.

good luck cougars, i know you are better than last saturday

Yards are going to be at a premium.

My guess is that UCF wins this one by ten, im thinking 20-10, with a defensive score for BYU and another turnover getting them within field goal range. Heaps has proven he can't sustain drives. I don't think it will improve against a defense like UCF's.

BTW, Florida International is hardly an "embarassing" loss; Florida International is receiving votes to be ranked and is a very good team.

Talk all spring and in the fall practices can't build confidence. Confidence shou;d have been built in off season lifting weights and conditioning. The coaches recognized that hadn't happened, hence the called off practice and the traditional run to the Y. It is not surprising that the team can only last 1 and a half quarters. The lines are definitely out of shape, look at them. The linebackers are not even close to past groups. Get ready for a big loss tomorrow.

Where oh where is the running game? Backs not very physically big this year; Bronco probably saw this coming. Gotta stick with Heaps as neither Nelson nor Lark would be much of an improvement; sorry guys. Houston newspaper reports that Texas would nix Houston, SMU and TCU as B-12 replacements due cutting into UT's recruiting base and IMPROVING football programs. So what does that say about the rumors that BYU might be a B-12 replacement? Still...GO BLUE!

BYU basketball starts in just over a month! Now that's something to be excited about. Cougar basketball has loads of credibility with lots of potential.

"You look at the potential of our team and it's just really frustrating to be where we're at right now," Heaps said. "We have such a great opportunity to have an explosive offense and we just haven't shown that yet."

    POTENTIAL doesn't win ball games.

Hey Jake - for the time being, the less said out of you, the better. Friday is going to tell a lot about you and the Cougars. A big win is EXPECTED. And IF (a BIG IF) it turns out to be a big win, I suggest you not gloat too much about it. We (the fans) do not want to see a bunch of high fivers in the end zone - we just want to see the scoreboard change, and often. Just win, baby. That's all that matters.

BYU really MUST win the rest of their games including TCU and OSU. The Utah loss was devastating but with the BIG 12 possibly hunting for another member or two it behooves the Y to finish strong.

  • Monk Pleasant Grove, UT
    Sept. 22, 2011 12:33 p.m.

There is only one way to get credibility. Go win. Period. The back half of this schedule should be simple but, with each passing week, it is looking more difficult.

  • Y Ask Y Provo, UT
    Sept. 22, 2011 12:09 p.m.

The time to show what you are made of is past. It was against Utah. You blew it. BYU credibility was completely demolished, especially the credibility of Bronco, Heaps and Doman. Even if you blow out several games, everyone knows it will be against lesser teams, and there is no bowl game that is impressive enough to redeem this season.

D'Anconia, love the name. Makes me think of copper mines and high style living.

Ha ha. Jake had a career night alright.

I think BYU does have potential. They haven't done anything with it because of LEADERSHIP. Jake is a terrible leader, and the coaches are still learning it as well. People get tired of coach speak sometimes and you have to speak frankly. BYU football may be about to implode this season.

Unfortunately, BYU has a long way to go as far as rebuilding credibility for this year. They don't have many opportunities to prove themselves. They have choked on the real competition on the schedule.
They are projecting the right attitude to the media (prove it on the field, not with talk). We will see if the team actually believes this.

1 touchdown on offense per game

    1-2 start to season.

    Soon to be 1-4

    Can't play with athletic teams.

Athletic teams from Florida especially have spelled trouble

Defense was exposed this past Saturday

    Can't run.

    Can't throw

    Can't defend athletes

UCF has one of best defenses in the nation
byu has one of the worst offenses in the nation

    Congratulations UCF on your win.

    UCF 31

Heaps said, "We've done enough talking," he said. "It's time to show what we're capable of, and what kind of football team we have."

Good Jake. I think most of your fans would agree. It's time to put up and shut up. Go ahead and realize that "explosive potential" you keep talking about. I am still waiting to see it against a worthy opponent.

  • Papa Smurf UTE Herriman, UT
    Sept. 22, 2011 11:19 a.m.

We've done enough talking Heaps said. Actually, YOU have done enough talking for the whole team. We GAVE the game to the UTES. We will get to the BCS, win a BCS game, & play for a NC while I am here. Blah, Blah, Blah. Heaps and the HC are the only ones talking, and they are not making any sense. You didn't give the game away, the UTES took it from you, and made you give up. We need to hold onto the the ball like it's the Band of Brother's, and not let it go. All talk, no show. 1 TD a game is not very good. If the Y is to win this game on Friday night, they are going to have to be a ton better than their first 3 games. UCF has a great team D, with a ton of speed. Speed is what has killed the Y in the past, and IF (like Riverton Coug likes to say) things do not change, I dont see a different outcome this Fri night against the fast UCF team. Here's to IF the Y scores more points, IF they hold onto the ball, & IF they score TD's.
