Utah lost to USC who barely beat Minnesota who lost to New Mexico State. (not New Mexico) Montana state did win to knock UC Davis to 0-2.

BYU lost by 1 to Texas who beat Rice who beat Purdue. Ole Miss also won their 2nd game.

Good news for Utah. They have a chance to win the south division. (Because USC can't and the division is weak) Bad news, they will have to play Oregon or Stanford if they do.

Should be a close game on Saturday. Is the Vegas line out yet?

Let's consider chances of going to a BCS bowl:

    1 loss already
    no conference wants you
bcs bowls think you are a joke
    preseason national championship

chances of BCS bowl: 0%, same as every year.

    Pac 12 tournament of champions
    Don't play Oregon
    Don't play Stanford
USC can't go to Pac 12 championship game
1 of 2 best teams in Division

Chances of BCS Rose Bowl: 40%. Oregon 60%

Oh it's good to be a ute.

Good luck on your "quest" next season cougars

    We'll have already had THREE!

I watched both games as we had Y fan in the midst and USC looked way better than Texas. Texas lost at home to Iowa State last year and that say's it all about their prowess lately. Texas is a mere shell of its former shelf with young talent and not much else. But I have to agree with Balan in that best QB in the Utah at the moment resides in Logan. Heaps is still hypes until he proves otherwise and Wynn can't seem to win in any big game. Chuckie is the only one that seems to be able to find the endzone much at the moment and I think hell be a very good one before his career is over at Moo U. Utah State needed something good to happen so I am happy for them.

Texas won 2 home games last year. They are no better this year.
They played 18 freshman and yet byu still couldn't beat them.

Texas is ranked #24/#21 this week

    USC is unranked

Only in the crimson-colored glasses wearing world of Utedom is USC a better team than Texas

Minnesota, the team the Trojans struggled to beat just a week ago (19-17), LOST to New Mexico State yesterday (28-21).

No, that's not a typo. New Mexico State beat the Gophers in Minnesota, worse than USC beat them in the Colliseum.

Heaps is not as good as advertised. If he were as good as he thinks he is it would be a runaway win for BYU. However, I look for it to be close and ultimately BYU's defense against a suspect Wynn will be the difference.

The best quarterback in the state, by far, is playing at USU this year.

I agree with train34. I think USC would woop Texas and for sure BYU.

TJ texas played with 3 qb's and 18 true freshman while USC has one of the better quarterbacks in the country and one of the best defensive coordinators in ALL of football. USC is loaded with talent there is a reason the were picked to win the south and they will win the south no question. Texas was the furthest thing from a top 25 team. The longhorns aren't the same. Get real

It feels wrong playing Utah this week. It makes it less real. So in this new alternative universe let this Cougar fan declare:

It is time for a little repentance.

Utah still remains that school I love to "hate" but now that it is just a game in September I will only "hate" them on the field. The rest of the time I will try to either say only good things about my neighbor or say nothing at all.

Remember we can welcome off the field with the hopes of victory on the field.

So welcome back to Prove Ute fans. Good Luck in all your adventures and may you find success in your new league. I am grateful that our years of opposition have made our school stronger and worthy of the national attention we receive. And as you go your way and we go ours I hope that we both find huge success.

And when we both have the clout, lets get this game back to November and we can renew our proper dislike of one another.

This way the victories will be much sweeter.

( Proof? Do either of us care when we beat Utah State?)

Not likely. BYU lost by one point to a much better team than USC. Next Saturday it will be BYU who gets back on the right track.

I'd have to put my money on Utah. BYU doesn't have an offensive coordinator and the team doesn't have the killer instinct. The only way the Cougars can win is if they bore the Utes to death with their predictability on both sides of the ball. Time for Bronco to make TY Detmer an offer that is to good to refuse!

Rivalry week already? Thanksgiving must be just around the corner.

I like having this game early in the season. It will prove how superior we are to that other team. (whose name I won't even mention). And then we can rub their noses in it for the rest of the season. This is going to be sweet!

    Go Team!
