Paige has been on the BYU bandwagon for weeks- watch Around the Horn and you will find him all over BYU in support espcailly of the Honor Code issue but much earlier than that as well- I have watched him for years and he is never really been anti Utah- he has his fun but then why not we are a state and a culture that can be easy to poke a little fun at

Woody Paige? The guy who wrote a column about the SL Winter Olympics and the LDS Church that was a complete pack of lies, then claimed he was trying to be funny? That Woody Paige? I'm feeling faint.

You can make an argument Collinsworth was playing better than Hartsock.

It's a fact Collinsworth is more athletic and plays inside a lot more than Hartsock. Personally I think losing Collinsworth hurts every bit as much as Davies it just doesn't get the publicity because it happened earlier in the season and was an injury not the honor code.

If you take the two of the three best big men off most teams in the nation there is no way they win 30 something games and make it to the sweet sixteen. Jimmer and the rest of this team have done amazing things despite two really talented players on the bench unable to play.

They are not down their two best big men.

They are down two great big men.

(It would not be accurate to say that Collinsworth was playing better than Noah Hartsock.)

"The main reason it appears BYU is getting so much more media attention than the Utes did back in the late 90s is the internet, social media, and 24-7 sports coverage."

    Yeah, that's the ticket.

    Why the denial?

The reason that Jimmer get's so much media attention is not just what he does, but how he does it.

It has nothing, zero, zilch to do with Utah!!! Stop whining.

You don't hear other colleges whining, and everybody now lives in the information age. Where is their Jimmermania?

Just the whining from the hill.

If Jimmer played the same way for any other team, he would still be Jimmer.

All the great players that came through Utah, not one of them had the swagger, yet humility as Fredette.

    Just enjoy the ride.

@tooth...Completly agree with your social media comment. Social media has certainly added to Jimmer's and BYU's popularity. We are an immediate information driven society today. Not to take anything away from what's happening on the court though. This team is something very special, even if they don't win another game.

    Well done men.

The main reason it appears BYU is getting so much more media attention than the Utes did back in the late 90s is the internet, social media, and 24-7 sports coverage was not the same back then as it is now. So many more sources of constant information these days.

Agreed that Utah had some pretty good teams and almost won the NC one year. It was a big deal in Utah and they even got some national attention. However; it was nothing like the Cougars and Jimmer are receiving now. Utah's accomplishments were greater that what BYU has done so far in some ways but the recognition and national attention Utah got can't hold a candle to what BYU is getting, deserved or not. If BYU wins one more game and Jimmer makes a good showing, Jimmer will have POY served to him on a platter(probably will anyway), and this team will go down in history as one of the best ever out of the state of Utah. The adverstiy just adds to the legend. They are without their two best big men. last night was a great team effort. Everyone who played contributed to this win.

The mere fact that Woody Paige actually wrote something positive about anything from Utah speaks volumes on the impact of this team and the Jimmer. Just seeing his name on the by-line led me to read it just to see if he could spin this one with his usual negative attitude toward all things Utah or LDS.

Nice line about the Osmonds, but I would bet some Ute fans will disagree. They had a pretty impressive team in 1998.

I don't think there has ever been a time when BYU, Utah, or the LDS church received so much National media attention (perhaps during the 2002 Olympics). It has been well deserved. Great team effort led by The Jimmer--if the same team shows up next week we could see the Cougs in the Final Four for the first time ever. Go Cougs!
