News analysis: 30 years of deficit talk, but little to show for it

    All this talk by Republicans. The annual budget was in the black in thy Clinton years, and the Republicans couldn't wait to spend like crazy when they took power again. Remember, Vice President Cheney saying deficits don't matter? So the GOP makes a mess of things, and now are screaming for a fix. By the way, cutting alone won't do it. A tax increase will be necessary. Amazing how the tax cut for the rich has actually hurt the economy and the budget. But Republicans are more interested in serving special corporate interests than the common good.

    brave politicians take on the elderly but fear the biggest spender which is the military.

    Let's see...voters want everything they can get without paying for any of it. That's not exactly the best recipe for fighting deficits. It's not the politicians fault. It's the people's fault.
