well if they were getting blown out then I would worry about the losses but since they only won by 7, Af could definetly beat them. Everyone has bad games LP lost to viewmont!! LP is defiently a good team and a tough one to beat but I really think AF could beat them, They just need a little confidence, and the right plays.

@ AF FAN - Is it the 10 straight losses to LP that gives you confidence in beating them? Just curious.

This was very similar to the first game they played against each other. AF just seems to Choke in the third/fourth quarter. AF needs to keep Waddoups guarding Nick Emery. He only scored 4 points off of waddoups 2 of which were fowl shots, its when he was being guarded by someone else that he got all his points. Davis did all the scoring for AF the other AF players need to step there game up as well. Both teams have alot of talent, I am confident AF will beat LP if they meat up again.

Really........( Weber Cat ) LP during the time period from 2000-09 has 4 state championships ( 3 in 5A and 1 in 4A ) and played in 6 state championship games, all this from a school with closed enrollment. Bingham is the best in the state at football, I'll give you that. How many do they win if they were a HS with closed enrollment? It should be a good state tournament with at least 4 of the top teams having a real shot to take the title.

Weird, because last I checked Bingham has won 3 rings as of late, and LP has also won 3 in basketball. If you're counting losing to Alta twice in the final, I guess I could see where you're coming from.

Lone Peak is 156-31 since Quincy Lewis took over. By far the best mark over those eight years in 3A-5A, not even the dynasties in 1A and 2A are better, but South Sevier is close. Not only that, in 8 seasons LP has won 6 region championships and 3 state championships (could be 4 this year).

So your little Bingham reference doesn't actually hold any water.

The other difference, Bingham football doesn't just dominate in the regular season, they win championships. :)

In dominant nature, yes LP basketball is on par with Bingham football. The glaring difference is that you have to live in LP boundaries to play at LP. They are the only closed enrollment 4A or 5A school, so Bingham, unlike LP can have kids from all over the state play football, regardless of whether they actually live in Bingham's boundary.

They obviously can be beat, Viewmont showed that, but haven't been beaten in 17 straight games at this point. AF cut the lead to 5, but it was quickly pushed back to 10. After the 19-0 run, that game was never in doubt.

If LP and AF square off in the finals, look for Lone Peak who hasn't lost to American Fork in 10, yes that's TEN, straight contests to win once again.

Both teams have a lot ahead of them to get there. AF will most likely play Davis is the 1st round, and will have a Wednesday morning 2nd round showdown with Bingham. Lone Peak will have to dispatch of West Jordan in round 2 and Fremont somewhere in there. I would recommend not getting your hopes up for an LP-AF rematch.

I have watch LP play four times. I am very impressed with the talent, but after last nights game I can see they can be beat. They can hit you so fast with quick runs and they play great team defense I have seen it in the four games I have watched. But last night was the first time I watched them panic a bit and not take care of the ball once they got the big lead. They are young and hope they learn from last nights game. They could be a dominating team for the next three years with their youth and talent. I, like satch liked AF and won't be surprised if these two teams face off again for the State Title

Congrats to LP. Some great effort on both teams. It was a good crowd.

Is it me or is Haws and Hamilton steadily getting better every game? Both of these guys have improved so much. Nick Emery plays with great effort, but took some bad shots. I like the way Haws (like his brother) gets his teammates involved with his hustle and assists, and plays smart tough defense. LP's defense plays great team defense.

I would not be surprised in the least to see AF in the finals. They play great team ball. That Marcel Davis kid is a fantastic team player and scorer. If LP can find a way to get there too, it would be anybody's game.
