Little Eddie, I wouldn't expect anything more/better than your comments from ankle biter BYU fan. I am sure you'll be back here next year when as part of the PAC 12 the Utes play in yet another bowl game. Here's a prediction Eddie that I think has a far greater probability of happening: You're beloved cougars don't ever get to BCS bowl. Whose prediction has actual historical data/records to back it up?

Really hoping for an Alabama-type outing for the Utes, but I don't think this team is the same calibre that beat 'bama. I'll be very surprised if BSU does't win by 5 touchdowns and lead 21-0 in the first 10 minutes. Sorry Utes - no confidence after sorrowful outings against TCU, ND, and BYU........

A pac 10 match up for Utah would have been more interesting with a less obvious outcome.
Boise is just looking to give a beat down to end the season and Utah just doesn't have the horses to keep up.
I'd like to have seen Utah against UofA or some lower ranked SEC team.
Anything to break the cycle of Utah, BYU, TCU BSU match ups where we virtually know the likely outcome.
And not that they wouldn't be great games, but a little variety would be nice.

Interesting that this article says both teams have a lot to play for, but only talks about the Utes motivations. Believe me, the Bronco's have a lot of interest in this game: they need to bounce back and show the nation that Nevada was a fluke, to set themselves up better for next year (preseason rankings matter...a lot) and this is their only chance to show that, despite Utah being invited to the PAC, they are actually the better football program. This is especially relevant since Utah canceled future games with them. And if all of that wasn't enough leading up to the game, Utah players have been running their mouths--it's best not to anger a team more polished than yourself.

Let's examine which team is more consistent through "rebuilding" years:

    Utah BYU
    2006 8-5 11-2
    2007 9-4 11-2
    2008 13-0 10-3
    2009 10-3 11-2
    2010 10-3 7-6

Hmm, seems like in the last five years, BYU's had the better record three times. You call 2009 "rebuilding" but it's actually one of the best years for Utah football in the last decade. I'm not saying Utah's not a good program, they clearly are, but enough with the baseless smack-talk.

Write it down....This will be the last bowl game for the mighty utes for at least 10 years. The will be in the middle of the pack and with all the changes to BCS and NCAA football, a 4th place and below team from any conference will not be playing. Unless they decide to add a bunch more bowl games which could happen.
I am looking forward to the beatdown tonite. Good luck utes, you will need that along with some early Christmas presents. Here's hoping for a bowl record defeat of the utes.

I'm glad to see the ankle biting BYU fans are out in full force again on story about Utah. You guys remind me of a little yappy dog (annoying bark, but not much else). Enjoy mid major irrelevance as at least Utah is playing a real team not a UTEP which was basically another Wyoming, CSU or UNLV. Glad to see your team barely eked out a winning seasons (3 wins less than Utah's "rebuilding season" in 2009 but hey it's a start.

You know what I am tired of, BYU fans thinking that they have never been over hyped before and getting blown out in big games. I can think of two recent years that (one including the quest for perfection) where byu has utterly let down with all of their hype. Oh yeah, we still won and had more total yards this last holy war.

Willary, your obsession with BYU is showing again. I would love to see a close game tonight with a last play of the game outcome but I am betting it is over in the 3rd quarter. I think BSU will win this one by at least 17.
Good luck to both teams. They are both fun to watch and have done some great things in the past few years.

I'll be watching this game, realizing Boise State has beaten Utah soundly in the past and has a more talented and veteran team this year. But crazy things happen in college football. Not one of the above posters would have predicted Utah to go up 21-0 against Bama in the first quarter. That's why they play the game. Don't get me wrong, I understand the Utes will need to play near perfect and BSU will need to hurt themselves for Utah to pull it off. I'm just saying it's possible.

    @ Laser

If you're tired of the hype, why do you keep reading the articles and posting. But aside from that, how bout this weather we're having here in IA.

    @ Tired.

I'm tired of the bogus statistics.

BYU edged Utah in first downs, pass yards and field position.

Utah beat BYU in rushing yards, total yards, turnover margin, return yards and FG blocked.

    And, uh, final score.

    @ USAlover

Then it's a good thing he's getting medical attention for that shoulder.

Come on Williary, give it up. A true fan would talk about his own team instead of the weak attempt at belittling the rival. The rival, by the way, has nothing to do with this article.

Poor Utah. It won't be a massive beat down but Boise has something to prove here, and matched against an overrated Utah team (has been all season) missing their quarterback is only pointing Utah to a bad loss. Sorry Utes, heck of a way to start off your future PAC12 mediocrity...

I am a bit bothered by a few of the Ute players' attitudes for this game. Cox guaranteeing a victory, and Christopher calling Boise St. "Girlse St". I doubt the rest of the team and coaching staff reflect this and Whittingham was not pleased, so that is good.

However, these guys need to realize that Boise St. was right up there with TCU for all the season until the last game. And TCU beat Utah by 40 points.

ANY lack of respect towards a team that has the potential to give Utah a two or three touchdown defeat is ridiculous.

Come on guys - show it on the field. Enough of the mouth.

@Tired of the Mess; Dude BYU beat Utah in first downs,
time of possession, number of FG kicked. Utah beat you in total yards, number of touch downs, FG BLOCKED, and total points scored.
Good Luck Utes!!! make us proud
    GO UTES!

Could you please share with the group what you consider to be the major statistical categories for a game?

Williary: I agree with your philosophy that players should be coached to reach for mediocrity or respectability...anything but perfection. I usually like to see Utah and its local student athletes do well but I think tonights defeat will be the first of many tough defeats for the big time Utes.

It looks like a knock out punch that Kwitt is giving Peterson! I'm pretty sure K Whitt could take Peterson every time.

Let's go Utes! I can see Shaky high stepping it to the end zone now.

Re: williary - what does BYU have to do with this? Besides, what's wrong with being on a quest for perfection? Were they going to wear shirts saying "Quest for Mediocrity"? Aim high. Even if you don't get there at least you tried. Arrogance is in the eye of the beholder.

Anyway, as much as I'd like the Utes to win this game, it won't happen. Sorry. Sure, they have a chance but it's pretty slim.

Dude, BSU has owned Utah for a decade, and the Ute's wont play them to make things different-only in a bowl game, ha ha ha Poor Ute supporters!Bit in essence ya all deserve it, so vocal, so everything, except the play on the field......You lost in all catagories to BYU for heavens sake,,,,,,and you expect to go out and beat a top program like BSU????????????Good luck with that one, ummmmmm, I can only recall the losses you had with BSU clear back when they were Big Sky (FCS) and should have stayed there----they would be a dynasty!!!!!! And even in FBS, still are but without worthy rivals!

How come Bronco's face isn't on the boxing clip above? Could have sworn I keep seeing these BYU shirts that say "Quest For Perfection?" Anyone arrogant enough to print that on a shirt must have done so after the fact, on their way to a BCS bowl game, right?

It's the perfect time and venue to trot our my favorite quote of all time--from "Iron" Mike Tyson:

"Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth."

I hope the Utes do the punching (figuratively, of course). I want to believe. But I just don't see it happening this year. The Utes are down and BSU has looked good all season. Good luck Utes. I'll be watching starting at 1 am London time--thank you ESPN America!
