I am so excited that this will be the last time I have to watch a Ute football game on the Mountain

SLCWatch hit it right on, the x-factor in this game will be how the BYU defense plays against Wynn and the Utah Offense. If they can put pressure on Wynn and take away his first and second options, they have a great chance of upsetting the Utes.

However, consistent with DickĀ“s quasi prediction of a Utah win (i.e. two of his points are that they have to force multiple turnovers to have a chance in this one and accomplishing other highly unlikely feats), Utah has a better all-around team. They should have a huge edge on special teams and they will stuff the run game. Heaps will throw nearly 60 times today with 3 or 4 INTs and a 50-60% completion percentage.

    Utah by 17

    Go UTES!!!

I wish the best to both teams today but GO COUGARS! Lets cap off the turn around with a win over the Utes.

I'm not worried. Based on past rivalry games (recent), I see BYU getting ahead early, squandering a lead and winning in the end.

Based on recent BYU games, I saw the same pattern vs SDSU, WYO, and then the last three, but without the squander part.

Based on recent Utah games, I see giving up the lead and the momentum early and rolling over, and against SDSU most recently, playing with grit and coming back.

There were reasons to under-rate BYU against SDSU, WYO, and CSU. There were reasons to over-rate Utah against ND and SDSU.

The result? Absolutely no way to predict, but...

    I'm not worried!

Thanks Dick for giving the Utes credit that they do have the edge in this game.

That said, as always, the rivalry game really can go either way. Today it's not going to be about talent but about which ever team gets up for this game and wants it the most.

BYU is a good enough team to win today, but, I'm hoping the Utes can regain their "swagger" in time to come out on top.

    Go Utes!

    Nov. 27, 2010 9:00 a.m.

    The Runnin' Utes: 38
    Cougs: 3
The Ute's will unleash its full power today just to show how deep their program really is...in preparation for the PAC-12.

The rest will be history and all of us Ute Fans will be looking in our rear view mirrors for years to come watching the y get smaller and smaller and insignificant, right where they belong.

Oh, how I love fall football...

Looking forward to the game...hopefully it will be a close game that all can enjoy. Pulling for the Cougars but I am worried, the Yewts are better than we think.

Placing my faith in the team...Go Cougars, beat utah.

    Better dead than red!

I am amazed that no one is talking about the game changer here. People talk about stopping Heaps and stopping the BYU running attack. But there has been little on the BYU defense. They have been leading the nation since Bronco took over and that included SDSU and TCU. It may not be Heaps that gets shocked today. Wynn may just find himself running for his life worse than he did against TCU and Notre Dame. If there is a change of fortunes in this game that the prognosticators have given to Utah it will come not from great BYU offensive performance but from an overlooked defense.

This 6-5 BYU team will beat utah.

I don't think BYU's run game will win the game. Utah has been good at stopping the run game against TCU and Notre Dame. BYU will have the chance to win because of Utah's secondary.

Utah will win by several touchdowns, or if it is close, BYU will win in the last seconds of the game.

Can today's game eclipse some of the Ute season highlites? Let's review...

Fan base predicting BCS NC bid
The self-destruction of a Hostess Twinkie champion... 8-0 and then TCU
    7-47 (JumboJet) loss to TCU
    Death of NC Utes 2010
    Silence of the Trolls
    3-28 loss to Notre Dame
Silence of the Trolls, Fetal Position Redux
Breaking the sound barrier while falling off a cliff... #5 (fake) to #23

Well, it's been a season hasn't it? I would like to think that next year I might rise above the ruckus and become a Ute fan but I know that is just too much to ask too soon. As they say "better dead than Red"!

BYU by 2 TDs and just maybe by 2012 the 'bitterness and jealously' might wear off!

By the way how's that basketball team doing locally??? Will NC Utes 2010 cheer the gymnastics team this year?

If Dick Harmon, the BYU beat writer, doesn't even predict BYU to win, things really must be bad down south. But ESPN has BYU as 9 pt dogs, so I guess he is at least calling for BYU to beat the spread.

There's no logical reason to pick BYU to win this one. They have played virtually similar schedules (Florida State on the road is better than Pitt at Utah, but Utah won and BYU got destroyed, and Washington @ BYU is waaay worse than Utah @ Notre Dame, but Utah got crunched and BYU pulled out a tight one...so pretty even).

That said, Utah averages more points (37-21), gives up less (20-21), has a better rush defense by (10th vs. 77th) and more experience. Unless Heaps, a true Freshman, can come in and play out of his mind, and Wynn has a poor showing (either of which are possible, but not probable), then Utah wins this game, probably by 7-12 pts. My guess...Utah 34, BYU 28.

Utah wins even if they play at home no worse than the Pitt game.

BYU wins only if they have another miracle up the sleeve.

Can BYU win, sure but Utah has to play bad.

If the Y has to have 3 or 4 turn overs to win.... I think BYU is toast.
