I don't miss McBride in the least. he was a mediocre coach at best, and NEVER could/would have taken the U program to the level its at now. Glad he's gone. thanks Chris Hill and Urban Meyer.

I will be the first to admit that BYU is probably better than their 6-5 record suggests. They have looked great the last four weeks, and they will give Utah all they want. I think Utah will win by more than 3 but by less than 10. I expect Heaps will have a good game, and Wynn should as well.

Utah will definitely compete in the PAC 12 in most years, and for BYU fans to say anything less only suggests that the cougars would fail as well. Deny it if you want, but these two programs are on the same level of talent and potential. If BYU is eventually invited to join a BCS conference, I am certain they would be competitive year in and year out.

Enjoy the last rivalry game as conference mates. Let's hope its one to remember.

This is the last time we will meet as conference rivals in November. Think of it. Think of all the history. Remember the great moments. They were great. Next year it all changes.

For those lamenting the McBride-Edwards relationship, you might as well wish the world had not changed in 20 years, including college sports.

The internet has altered everything, as has the BCS, and the stakes are higher than ever. No wonder Bronco and Whit fight it hard to "lighten up", as some suggest. If you watched "Red Blood/Blue Blood" on KUED-7 last night, you heard Lavell and Ron admit it themselves: They would not enjoy being in the place of these coaches in these times.

For these coaches to take it less seriously, college sports in general will need to become less serious. I for one wish that could happen, but don't expect it.

But I love my Cougars, and I'm super-happy that Whit took the U job, because I love our coach.

This week makes me miss Edwards and McBride. They seemed to enjoy the rivalry and the fans. Our coaches today seem to be annoyed by it all. Lighten up, Kyle and Bronc, it's a game. The fans are your neighbors. You're both going bowling and neither have a chance for the MWC championship. So RELAX and have fun with it!!!!

Well, as they say, what a difference a year makes.
I'm sure that most Ute & Cougar fans expected to be feeling alot better about their seasons at this point.
But feel free to send either of your coaches down to my sundevils...please!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Utes would have kicked our tails if we played them during the first six weeks of the season. But I think both teams are playing at a comparable level in November. I think it's going to be a nail biter just like last year. Final score will be within a touchdown.

Utes may win, but if I was a gambler I'd take the Coogs because I don't think Utes will cover the 10 point spread.

I do think a BYU win against Utah and a Notre Dame loss to USC will put them in the Las Vegas bowl against each other.

    Go Cougs!

Bronco should for ever be in debt to Kyle, if it was not for him turning the job down Bronco would never have gotten that job.

I'm not asking anything of you.

BYU fans are trying to set the scene that they are some kind of major underdog in this game and that a loss for Utah will be humiliating, which is weird because these same BYU fans throughout the year have done their best to disrespect Utah and paint them as a cupcake.

If BYU wins the game it won't be a humiliation to me. I have too much respect for them than that. I understand that with you and many others who post comments on this board, that respect is not mutual. And that's fine. That's your deal, not mine. Again, I ask nothing from you. Good luck Saturday. May the best team win.

To UtahManDan. I think there are lots of Cougar fans who respect Utah very much on and off the field as messages on this post board bear out. Same with Utah fans that respect BYU. There are a few others that are less than professional and some are down right ridiculous.

While it is entertaining to watch this rivalry unfold and the game played, it is dissapointing to see the ridiculous coming from so called fans.

I hope this game reaches epic proportions like the top 10 list given earlier this week. There have been some real barn burners in this series and some heart attack moments for both teams and their fans.

    Go Cougars.

BYU by a touchdown. Utah is unsteady and tuff. BYU is climbing and hungry. Look for a cold, hard fought, close game of kids that played together in high school. California fans a waiting to raise our colors high in the blue for our cougars of BYU!

I wish Mendenhall and Whittingham would get into it a bit more. The fan base could use it. Lavell Edwards and Ron McBride really had some good times in the rivalry - I really miss that.

How either fan base now can disrespect the other is not logical now. If Utah is overrated because they beat a bunch of easy teams, then BYU's resurgence is overrated. If Utah is good because of this, then so is BYU as they both essentially beat the same teams by approximately the same margins.

If trends are any indication then this will be close. However, when Utah has been favored recently, they have had an easy time beating BYU such as in 2008 and 2004. When BYU has been favored, they barely beat Utah. As such, I predict a convincing win for Utah, but not necessarily a blowout.

    Utah 27, BYU 13

    Go UTES!

btw...byu has had 5 soon to be 6 "rebuilding" years in the past 10 when they have lost six or more games in a season. 2000...6, 2002...7, 2003...8, 2004...6, 2005...6 and 2010...7?

    Utah has had 2. 2000...7, 2002...6

    Just say'n

Go Utes! Look forward to this game as always. Will be fun.

Are you really comparing BYU to ND in history? Not even close. You meant to comare byu to Navy, right?

You know well that you can throw records out the window when in comes to the rivalry game. So it is a "rebuilding" year for the soon to be 6-6 cougs? I thought the cougs just "reloaded"?

I wouldn't say I'm scared to death of BYU but I will say that they are a good team. While most BYU fans that post comments have shown Utah no respect at all for their 9-2 record, I completely respect BYU as an opponent and I expect them to make a very good showing this weekend.

  • SportsFan Orem, UT
    Nov. 24, 2010 9:11 a.m.

wwookie talks big, but in reality, he and every other Utah fan is scared to death of a rebuilding 6-5 team led by a true freshman QB.

Utah is expected to win, easily, especially at home with an experienced 9-2 team, so anything less than a 10-point win would be considered an upset, and a not too improbable loss, would be considered humiliating.

A Wynn meltdown against BYU is every Utah fan's worst nightmare.

Professional? Maybe. These two coaches impress me more as boring and with no sense of humor. I miss the days of Ron McBride.

UofU - will only be average in the PAC for years to come
BYU - as an independent, the Y will evolve into a "once great" football program, just like Notre Dame

The utes will take this one by 2 1/2 touchdowns.

The rivalry will exist atleast until the current generation of fans is in a geriatric ward.

Utah gets more pleasure in defeating the arrogant team down south than most other victories (of course the win over a very good Alabama team in ยด08 was the most gratifying win for the utah program).

    Go UTES!
