I could tell from watching that Highland was anticipating the dive to Rigby. Kuresa should have faked the dive and ran for the corner of the end zone. He would have walked in.

It was a great game, one of the best ever played. Certainly better than the Bingham Freemont debacle.

I didn't think Highland would have gotten to the championship game, but they played hard and deserved it. Too bad for Mtn. Crest. They played hard and should have won it.

    Congrats to both teams.

Great game! We had a lot of suport on MySportsGuys and streaming from Deseret News. People watching from all over the world with Utah ties! What a game and very fun to watch. Love the call to go for two. That was the right call and you just have to hand it to the Rams for blowing the play open on great effort.

I picked Highland to win the 4A Championship after they beat Pine View and Timpview got knocked out. That was probably one of the best high school football games I've ever watched.

There was some pretty bad officiating...talking about the robbing of the td of Highland. Regardless the best football game I have seen this season any where!!! WAY TO GO RAMS!!!

Hooray for Highland! So glad neither of the teams who took a game off in the regular season won the state title.

The call to go for two at that time of the game was not the issue; in fact, it was the right call. What was bad about it was the play selection. You can't ride #7 for 3 straight years and almost 13,000 yards just to pull it away from him when you needed it most. They have to put the ball in Kuresa's hands there. You put the kid in the shot-gun and let him finish it with the option to throw or run. Rigby had some success up the middle but with the state title on the line..I let Kuresa win or lose it. I'm sure he wouldn't have turned the opportunity down. Hats off to Highland! It was a great game and both teams left it on the field!

I have no problem with MC giving the ball to Rigby on that play.

He was probably the toughest and most gutsy kid on that field last night. I just wish they would have pitched the ball to him and let him get to the corner.

With Highland's line being so physically dominate, I would have liked to see Rigby beat the Rams to the pilon with his speed, rather than put the pressure on our small line.

Kuresa could have told his coach to give him the ball on that final play, or changed the play at the line. I know plenty of players who tell their coaches that if they give them the ball they will make the play. So not necessarily is this the coach's fault.

I must admit, I was rooting for Highland and when I saw that MC was going for two I said "oh no, here is a play action roll out right and Kuresa will dump it if there is someone open or run it in if not, one or the other will be open!" Imagine my shock and joy when he handed it off! Both teams played great and fought hard and should be commended. Congratulations Highland!

It was a good call but you have to keep the ball in Kuresa hands to win or lose ... your playmakers will make the play. If Kuresa has the ball MC wins! Too Bad. Great game.

What a great game. However I don't think it was a gutsy call to go for 2 as much as it was necessary because the kicker struggled so bad in the game. Also the game never should have gone into overtime anyway because Nate was clearly in bounds on the TD catch. The Mt Crest sidelines seemed to be calling the game not the refs which is unfortunate. Nate showed why he is D1 ready as he dominated on both sides of the ball. There is a huge difference between being a great high school athlete and being a D1 capable athlete and Nate showed that.

What a game!!!!! We have no ties to either team and were glued to the tv. Fantastic football. It's to bad either team had to lose because both played their hearts out. Made a football fan out of me for one night.
    Congrats to all involved!!

I spoke to the Highland Coaches after the game and they were thinking the same thing everyone else in the stands was thinking. Kuresa is going to rollout on a Run/Pass play. Boy were we wrong

If you watched the whole game you will notice that dive play worked really well. So I can see the coaches thinking he could do it. Rigby went like 11 yards untouched up the middle for a TD with that play. However Highland was in a 3 man line and not in their goal line package. They had success running the ball mostly because highland was set up so pass heavy.

I agree with the decision to go for 2. The difference is this.

If highland needed the same 2 pt conversion what are the chances Fakafahua gets the ball? 100% 150%?

You have to try to get the ball in your playmakers hands.

Congrats to Coach Wooden on making the right decision to go for the win. I'm sure he will regret not rolling Kuresa out and giving him a run/pass option.

That was not a good play to run. All the defense was stacked right in the middle. To bad, I really hoped Kuresa would have gotten a state title. It was a good game.

I agree, hats off to both teams. Great game. MC I liked the call to go for the win. Would like to see that more often, not only in sports, but life. Get sick of everyone playing it safe waiting for the other guy to make a mistake. Nice to see when you have your fate in your own hands you have the guts to go for it. Nothing wrong with failure, I know it hurts to lose, but if more people were willing to take risk instead of always playing it safe our world would be a better place. Thanks both teams for a great game.

Watched it on t.v.and what a great game it was. Both teams looked great. Half time they had nba basketball with malone and stockton. I really wanted to watch the high school half time activity but still was a great game. Both teams are champs in my view.

Kuresa finished his career with 12,917 yards of total offense and 10,951 passing yards. He tossed 101 touchdowns and was responsible for 130 touchdowns which is tied for the most in state history.

Hats off to guts, hats off to an amazingly talented team.
