RSL will be out of season while all the other leagues will be finishing their seasons. Columbus will obviously be out of season also giving us a much better chance at a qtr final win. Also serving as a qtr final warmup and maybe giving the winner some momentum.

I know that it isn't going to be popular to play the Crew in such a big tournament, but it was really the best thing that could happen. Both of these teams will need something to get them in some kind of game shape before they play the mexican squads.
This isn't country against country in this tournament, it is everyone for themselves. We needed this draw if we were going to make it farther than the quarters.

It would be nice to see two MLS advance in the later rounds, but it will make at least put us on level ground with another team in the same preseason form.

I like the draw because it gives us a better chance to advance, period. The CONCACAF title is just as if not more important to me than the MLS Cup.

The system is not favored for any match-ups. One side of the bracket is nothing but Mexico squads. The good thing for the MLS is that hopefully one of the MLS squads will make it to the final. Having all Mexican finals every year gets old after a while, and I didn't even watch the final last year.
This will be a fun match up, especially since many RSL fans have grown a hatred for Columbus the last couple of years. I consider it our Eastern Conference rival.

I think that although its an easier opponent for RSL than an in-season Mexican League team would be, its a lame draw. MLS teams already get plenty of chances to play other MLS teams. The exciting part of CCL is to play Mexican league teams and tap into the Mexico-US soccer rivalry and play more-challenging opponents. Additionally, instead of two CCL quarterfinal matchups I would be interested in as an MLS fan, now there's only one.

I don't think, however, that the system should be set up so this should never happen. But the system should definitely not be set up to favor MLS vs. MLS matchups in the CCL.

    Great draw for RSL!

MLS teams are normally at a disadvantage during this phase of the CCL because they haven't played a meaningful match in months.

If we advance to the next round we will play either Saprissa (Costa Rica) or Olimpia (Honduras).

I'd say RSL has a very good chance of advancing to the CCL finals next spring.
