"We've got a lot of things to work on for this next game," said center Zane Taylor. "We want to keep doing well so we can win the Mountain West Conference."

I love this statement. It says that they have a goal of winning the MWC but at the same time it says that in order to do that they know they need to focus on the next game and winning it. I am a believer is having big goals but also setting goals as stepping stones along the way to reach those goals. It seems that Utah really understands that. Focused on the next game but that only is a step towards their goal of winning the MWC.

Hmm, three turnovers and we still win 30-6? Not bad! I've seen a consistent pattern of improvement on the shaky parts of the game, starting with special teams after week one, and coach Whitt really emphasized ball security on runs after the new mexico game. Passing accuracy will receive the same kind of scrutiny this week and we'll see a very cleaned up, efficient passing attack this week.

We can catch our stride again when the Rams come to SLC.

    Go Utes!

Thanks sammyg, we Ute fans really appreciate a BYU fan setting us straight since you know it all. Maybe you can share some of your profound wisdom with your team as they really seem to need it more that Utah.

Lets remember that Wyoming has played us for quite awhile they know the plays we run and how to stop them so some games might be a little decieving

    Do you mean 1-6?

Some of you Ute fans crack me up, especially 'I whine because I bleed crimson'.

My earlier comment is a nice tongue in cheek remark acknowledging BYU's difficulties and likening them to the 1st qtr Ute efforts. Several Ute fans agreed that the Utes had some problems, EVEN YOU! Cowpokes moved the ball on you guys in that first quarter. Geesh, you call that smack???

Go tell the DNews boys I'm a biased BYU fan would you? And please tell them I'm bitter and jealous too! Smack meter is at least 10 to 2 in favor of Ute comments on BYU stories and I simply comment on the obvious.

No hype, just nice 'cupcake' comments that do not spew hate, just facts or opinions based upon facts and general common sense. Never intended to offend but hope to generate logical thought and discussion with a little entertainment factor.

By the way I'm not a Ute hater. It's just a few of you fans that are a little over the top in your comments.

I don't recall disappearing AND I'm an original, why would there be a need for another? Want a clone?

Jeeez guys this isn't Jake Heaps we're talking about, although Wynn's two pick in the endzone were prety Heapesque!

He should have thrown both of them away, my guess with a little splainin from his coach he understands that clearly now.

sammyg and striker are these weeks iteration of the Cougar smack runners. They always come in pairs and repeat the same mantra in every thread. They eventually dissapear only to be replace by the next set. I dunno maybe it's just the same dude with a lot of aliases.

We do have to remember that Jordan is still very young. Wynn has now played in 11 games, the savior Heaps has now played in 7 games. At least Jordan can move the team up and down the field, while Jake is still throwing incompletions. And further....Wynn has never held a press conference at a bar, which to this day I will never understand how that was not an honor code violation.

Striker: Nothing new. We heard all of that hate talk two years ago too and you were all wrong then. By the way, we Ute fans don't mock the Vegas Bowl, we are 2-0 there with a win over a Pete Carol led USC team. We mock a team with a coach who has never gone to any other bowl besides the Vegas Bowl and is only 3-2 there to boot!

Will be a fun stretch! We have done it before and can do it again. Right now we are only .011 percentage point out of 8th in the BCS with LSU - Auburn playing each other this weekend. We will be at least 8th or higher next week with five games to go. Looking good.

It is nice to know that, after we go through the "gauntlet", we will still have one cupcake left to finish out the year!

    Go Utes!! Onward and Upward!!

I'm not too concerned about Wynn. He had a rough day, everyone does. Looking at his history, Saturday's game at Wyoming was clearly an anomaly and not a trend. Utes crush CSU this week!

Yeah, "off" game with -3 turnovers and we still cover the 21 point spread. Maybe this really is the best Utah offense in school history, like they were saying in the summer. Greatest part about the schedule setup is the cupcakes that get the engine humming then the 4 game gauntlet to prepare for life as a BCS team (week to week grind) and also shoot up the computer and human rankings and respect at just the right time.

I love it when an "off" game by the Utes is a 24-point victory. Remember the "off" game in 2008? It was a victory of only 3 points against New Mexico and that team ended up undefeated and winning the Sugar Bowl.

We were due for a little let down. Happens to the best of teams (LSU - McNeese St, OK - USU, etc). Don't know whether that was because we were playing at War Memorial Stadium, which has been traditionally hard to play at, or because Whitt is best friends with the WYO coach or what. The important thing is that we learn from it. Have a bad game and still win by 24. Still not bad, but has to get better.

    Go Utes!! go Crimson!!

BD says go WYO against their "cupcake" this week!!

Don't worry, Utah will end up in Vegas, the same place Utah fans have been mocking for years. No way they make it through their gauntlet unharmed. Playing instant-made store-bought cupcakes doesn't prepare you for 4-5 massive games coming up.

Didn't see the same fire and intensity like we did at ISU. Maybe it was playing the cowboys and maybe it was the altitude in Laramie. Let's hope that this WAS the off game of the year and we start winding up the motor for the main events. Air Force, TCU and Notre Dame. If they beat TCU and destroy Notre Dame on national television they may just put pressure on the voters with Boise State having done really nothing for weeks. Utes leap frog and become the national discussion. Especially since they are step brothers to a BCS conference this year.

  • Remember when Saint George, Utah

If Utah needed to have a down week, playing Wyoming wasn't a bad choice. After last year, it seemed like they would have been better this year.

The Utes "cupcake" schedule is only such because they are currently members of the the unanointed MWC. It won't matter as much next year when they are in the PAC-12.

I'm afraid though, that even if Utah wins the rest of their games, the BCS will have them playing another "Pittsburg" (2004) or try to match them up with Boise State. (like TCU). For now, they still live "on the wrong side of the tracks."

Maybe next year they'll receive some respect.

    I agree with SammyG.
All but the last 3 minutes of the first half looked like it was BYU playing up in Wyoming.

Come on utes, dont play down to the level of your competition. This is probably the most talented team any university from the state of utah has ever assembled. Everyone work together and get the steam roller going again.

Well need momentum in our favor when we face TCU.

Good to see Whit and the boys recognize this area for improvement. In addition to the offense's need to reduce turnovers, the defense needs to force a few more of them.

Note to Jordan, when in doubt check down or throw it away.
