I doubt the Utes will get a sniff at the NC game if they end up undefeated, but they should get an at large to another BCS game.

Gotta laugh at the BYU fans, latching onto the Utah won't get a NC bid smack, is that all you have left? Guess you've given up on the last pipe dream, a victory over the Utes in November.

If I was a BYU fan, I'd be hoping not to finish the year with a 100+ ranking and the worst D1 QB rating in the nation!!

    Beat Colorado State

The Utes are playing well against bad teams, but unfortunately, they've pretty much peaked as far as how high in the polls they're going to climb. Having Michigan State pass them in the Coaches poll is not a good sign, and sitting at #9 with Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Stanford, Oklahoma State, and Missouri right on their heals, the Utes could find themselves dropping in the polls even if they continue to win.

Air Force losing to SDSU did not help. It was Utah's only chance to make a statement by beating a ranked team on the road.

Now the only statement games the Utes have are at Notre Dame(4-3) and home against #4 TCU.

By the time Utah plays TCU it'll be too late for the Utes to make a big enough splash to get into the NC discussion, although they might still be able to get into a BCS game if they go undefeated, although even that may be a stretch.

sammyg: not necessarily better programs in AQ conferences, just better press. As far as scheduling, Pitt was expected to be a much better team than they are, SJSU is also on 'Bama's schedule as well as Wisconsin's. Iowa State is still a Big12 AQ scholl as well. No one says anything nationally when Michigan plays Appalachian state or VA Tech plays James Madison, or LSU plays the SCLSU Mud Dogs but when Utah beats up on the same sort of competition, suddenly it's all about SOS. As far as conference opponents, Duke, Kentucky, Vandy, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miss State, Northwestern, Purdue, are regular powerhouses as well. South Carolina has 1 good win every year and chokes the rest of their season away. Notre Dame was great 50 years ago but, talk about overrated.

Ida_Ute is dead on. No doubt a winning season but better competition starts in two weeks for the Utes.

If the Utes run the table then it will be a game like last year's TCU / BSU...ouch, but not a NC. In the top 25 Utes are par. There are better programs in AQ schools and that's where the BCS loyalties lie. The Utes weak SOS is like an albatross.

Had your AD scheduled some stiffer OOC competition earlier in the season it might have been different.

Sorry NC, I have to disagree. No matter what happens Utah will not be selected to play for a National Title this year. We need to see the bigger picture, this years success is about future recruiting.

Coach Kyle is developing a reputation for putting defensive players into the NFL. BSC conference membership, a new Pac-12 TV deal, and Witt's steller, and deservered, reputation need to lead to some improved recruiting. Reggie Dunn was headed to U of A until July when they didn't have a scholarship for him because he took so long to get grades figured out. But we can't expect sub 4.4 guys to fall in our laps every year.

Looks like we will end up in the stronger, but recruiting rich, southern Pac-12 division. I hope we get off to great start in recruiting, by showing kids this is the place to be, for winning football.

    Great job Coach!

This team is on it's way to unprecedented heights.

As we've seen the SEC, big 12, big 10, and Pac 10 teams will all beat each other up during regular season.

It's likely the only undefeated teams as years end will be Boise and Utah. But after beating TCU in a close one(just like last time they came to Utah) there will be no way Utah doesn't jump them in the polls.

Both ESPN and Sports Illustrated have stated in recent weeks the NC is a very serious possibility for TCU or Utah with the carnage going on in the other conferences.

I've said it since week one and I'll say it again.

Utah WILL win the national championship this year.

P.S. "We" shouldnt sound silly by saying "WE need to focus on next week" because "WE" aren't on the team. "We" won't impact the game next Saturday even if "We" think about Colorado State 24/7 this coming week.
