i wouldn't say we "positioned ourselves to win the supporters shield". in fact, by playing our B team against colorado and dropping 2 points at home 2 weeks ago, we basically lost it.

we've got 2 tough road matches at NY and CO(though CO just lost at home to DC) as well as a tough dallas home match. with as poorly as we've played the last few games we'll be lucky to pick up more than 4 points in our last 3 games.

the galaxy has a 2 point lead on us and seems to be rediscovering its form. LA might tie dallas but is unlikely to drop points vs philly or CO.

I know that RSL would love to have the supporters shield just because they want to show all the doubters from last year that their cup wasn't a fluke. They have the toughest road to get there out of the other teams competing for the shield.
The Dallas and Colorado vs. LA and RSL are going to decide it. I personally think that LA loses both of those games. The question is can we get enough points out of them to pass LA?
I agree with astroboy that having tension and excitement over winning the supporters shield is much better than hoping we get a playoff spot.
The articles I have read lately have made the team sound like they are a pretty confident bunch right now. In the words of your grandfather "don't get a big head!"

RSL is in a great spot, but could easily walk away with zero hardware. I say that only to illustrate that in my opinion, zero trophies can not take away what this team has accomplished in such a dramatic turnaround in such a short period of time.

The emotions of them barely making the playoffs last year are still fresh. Competing for trophies like this is much more enjoyable :)

It's been a great season. It will be difficult to take the top spot. The other issue is who RSL will fact in the first round.

What RSL has done so far this season has been simply remarkable. An unmatched level of success in the history of MLS, when all things (travel, etc) have been considered.

Now they need to cement the legacy by adding more silverware to the cupboard! Personally, I don't think anyone will mind missing out on the Supporter's Shield if we win the MLS Cup again. But how amazing would both be?

Thank you, thank you, Jason Kreis, Garth Lagerway, Dave Checketts, and all the rest of the RSL organization.

How do you like your daily meal of crow, haters??
