This was the primary reason that SB-251 was passed by the 2010 Legislature. This law mandates that employers use the free Department of Homeland Security E-Verify check. An E-Verify check by employers would have caught this guy several years ago.

The Utah Attorney General's Office reported in 2007 that over 50,000 SSNs of children in Utah had been stolen.

ID theft in Utah for any reason is a felony. It doesn't even matter if the person knows the person they are stealing the ID from or not. It doesn't even matter if the stolen Id is that of a dead person or not.

In addition this person committed another felony when filling out the I-9 form. It says right on it that using false information is a felony.

AS this article states ID theft hurts real people.

The state tax commission better get involved too and press charges for tax fraud by the companies and the individual. And these illegal foreign nationals wonder why they are disliked and getting the prejudices they deserve.

This is just one of the very few cases where the illegal theft of SSNs has actually been caught and prosecuted.

The vast majority of illegals working in the US have probably committed some sort of identity theft fraud like this.

Just one more reason in a very long list of why we cannot tolerate illegals in the U.S., or grant them any form of amnesty.

The past is the greatest predictor of the future. Criminal illegal aliens will continue to be criminals

This is a story that could be repeated many thousands of times over. Crooks involved in producing fraudulant documents have sold (and continue to sell) fake Social Security cards to Illegal Aliens using numbers the government had not yet issued.

Well, now those children have been born and their Social Security numbers have been compromised by Illegals. If you have a child born in the past 10 years or so, it is likely that an Illegal Alien is using their number fraudulantly.

The Social Security Administration is well aware of this illegal practice since employers are required to report quarterly wages paid under these Social Security numbers.

There are situations where dozens of illegals are using the same Social Security Number.
It would be very interesting indeed, if the Deseret News would contact the Social Security Administration to find out how many Illegal Aliens are working under bogus and stolen Social Security numbers. The Attorney General's office would have access to this information also. How about it?

Might've stolen the SSN number? I'd say you can count on it. This is just one of the crimes illegal aliens commit. To say that they are like "jaywalkers" is misleading and not truthful. I wonder how long this person would have used this stolen identity if the mother had not gone to workforce services?
